Halo 4 was announced at this E3 there and they emphasize the bee.

It's almost as though they are trying to taunt participants in their old ARGs with this gum crap. Rolling Eyes

I'm coming out of creepy lurker mode to say that I think I know what that wasp-like insect is! ...and I'm honestly surprised that I'm the first to bring this up.

If any of you have seen the latest 5 Gum commercial (well, latest for us Canadians - I'm not sure if you're ahead of us on the ads or not) for the "cool mint" flavour (I believe it is called "Cobalt"), it contains a swarm of glowing insects that have a silhouette that matches that exactly, to my memory. In the commercial they lift a man up off a platform in a cooling swarm, putting frost on his skin when they land on him.

Unfortunately, I can't find said commercial online, so you'll have to take my word for it...next time it airs on TV, I'll try to take a camera shot of the screen... Embarassed

I remember seeing commercial.
It had a close-up of the wasp-bee hybrid.

Yep, I rememner seeing this ad yesterday, but I have a pretty bad reception here so I couldn't work out the details. I remember seeing a wasp close up, though.

I have to say, I just learned about this viral about 30 minutes ago. Very intriguing and yes, as many pointed out, very 42 esque. My doubts are on that this is gum based. For 42 to go for a viral for a food product, there must be either a massive pay involved or a major link to an external series/plot.

As I ponder what this may be related to, I have yet to create said badge everyone's been mentioning. I made an account on the site, logged in and took the test. I got to the end where it showed me my colored pentagonal graph, then I clicked the "Join the experiment etc. etc." button and it brought me back to home.

Help? I'm running Chrome btw, didn't know if that was the issue.

EDIT: Answered my own question, kept having to refresh due to multiple downloads happening at the same time as trying to load the page causing an abrupt stop during the video. Refreshing caused me to log out. Didn't finish it when I was logged in so I logged in again, took the test and am now making the badge.

Also, they are an ARG based company and all but I found this excerpt in their privacy policy for the site:

"We currently collect information on the website, www.testsubjectsneeded.com (the "Site" or "Sites"), as well as our immersive experiences and cross-platform entertainment, ("Games") collectively ("Services"):"

as well as:

We deal in alternate reality games and immersive cross-platform entertainment experiences. To help maintain the fictional world and mystery that is so important to our games, not all communication from us is labeled as such. We create entire fictional worlds including fictional characters and entities. You may receive email from these characters and entities if you participate in our Services. These communications may not have any reference to Test Subjects Needed. As part of our Services, all of these characters and entities comply with this privacy policy.

Confirming that there will in-fact be some sort of fictional characterization and plot building within the ARG. I'm really considering ruling out gum at this point. imho.

While I do believe there is going to be some fiction to this of some degree, there is no way it's not for 5 Gum unless some weird cross promotion is going on. That seems incredibly unlikely, though.

Has cross-promotion in an ARG ever happened? Like... where a certain product was advertised but wasn't the main part of the ARG?

I know 42E has the talent to make one but I just can't see an entire game based around gum.

Facebook ad
Test subjects needed

Alright, I just was sent to the site earlier in the night form a facebook ad that simply showed a trippy picture and said "Test Subjects needed". I found this forum after watching the video gettin a little creeped out and googling what just happened to me for info. Anyways, it seems noone else so far had been led to the site through facebook, and the ad showed absolutely nothing at all about wrigley, gum, or 5gum. Is this possibly a new venue they are using? something changing in the ARG?

Oh and next to the picture it says " do you know what euphoria looks like?" not sure if that could have any meaning
