As for videogame theories--what about Gears of War 3? I'm struggling to think of things that ice flies might be related to.

Really? Just so I have a frame of reference for prediciting when/if mine will arrive, when did you sign up and how long did the blinky thing take to arrive?

I know that Bungie did deny involvement in this, which doesn't debunk the Halo theory since Microsoft is now in full control over the property, however, that is a very very good catch about the bubble mailer being identical to Halsey's journal packaging.

Has anyone taken pics to compare the two yet? If not, I'll try to dig my journal up since I know I left it intact. I distinctly remember that the packaging was (at the time) very interesting to me, since I hadn't ever seen a bubble mailer like that before. But you're right--it has to be nearly identical to the Halsey package. I haven't touched my journal in a while, but that's a great thing to note.

Cortana in Reach was also captured in a jar that reminds me a lot of the Icefly tubes--so there are similarities there. But it may just be all coincidence and of the same sci-fi sort of thread.

I wouldn't say "most," more like a very vocal subgroup. Bungie has already gone on record for denying being involved with it (I think a lot of people saw "42e" and "icefly" and went "ilovebees!").

True. But someone made comparisons on the material of the package and the material used with Halsey's journal's packaging. Both were sent through the same website (which sounds more coincidental if anything).

I miss the older Bungie that would never confirm or deny anything until it was obvious one way or the other. They were more fun back then.

Found it. The original has working links as well.

Quote:

Okay, so I got a package in the mail today from the 'Human Preservation Project,' aka the Mission Icefly people.

Inside of this package (I have pictures that will be posted below) was a paper helicopter...thing, much like the ones seen in this video. It also came with a piece of paper that reads as follows:

We are both creatures of the senses, you and I -- we inhabit the same reality, simmering just below the perceivable world. The pulse is growing. Can you feel it?

I immediately scanned the Q-code (or whatever it's called) from the helicopter and it lead me to missionicefly.com .

But, as I looked at the three items together, I noticed something we haven't really focused on: the packaging itself. Now, it reminded me of two oddly similar things, both related to Bungie.

The first thing, was the protective package around Dr. Halsey's Journal, included with the Halo: Reach Limited/Legendary Edition. The two are an exact match; same color, texture, everything.

The second thing was a package sent to me from Bungie themselves. I recently bought a 'Japan Quake Relief 2011' wristband to support the disaster. The packaging, while white in color instead of black, is very similar to the kind I received today.

I also noticed (while possibly a coincidence), that both packages were sent "US Postage First Class," both using stamps.com. But as I said, this could be coincidence (though it may not be since it seems Bungie has sent both).

So there you have it. That's my finding's for the day. I think the Halsey journal/Human Preservation Project using the same package is pretty damn convincing, but tell me what you think. I'm pretty sure this isn't a 5 Gum campaign, but something to do directly with Bungie.

The original post in the Flood has pictures. Third post from the top.

(Although if this kind of bubble wrap is a common shipping wrap then this is irrelevant)

Signed up 6/21. So the package took under 2 weeks to get to me in Ohio.

Actually, that's an interesting point all in itself- Bungie used these materials, but Halo is no longer Bungie. So, getting my thoughts together...

Bungie used similar materials in non-ARG promotions. 42e uses these materials in their own ARG.

Hum... Now I'm thinking coincidence. This is driving me nuts, I wanna see some identifying material! DX

Yes. Bungie is working on a new project however. Starting off a new game with an ARG seems like it would be a pretty good idea. The only other evidence that makes it seem connected is that Mission Icefly started during Bungie's goodbye to Halo festivities.

Edit: Correcting myself here. Technically Icefly started a while back, but the original(?) countdown ended during the festivities.

Lol, I think it's just gum. In all of the 5 Gum commercials the people are TEST SUBJECTS. They even have the look and feel of the countdown website with the wasp, etc. Also, after looking at and reading the Wrigley website I can see that their language is all over this ARG. "We are committed to preserving our heritage and values...empowering people...saving the world for future generations...we believe in global innovation...building our company and spreading our message..etc.

I said this on Facebook but will repeat it here:

I'm taking the side of believing that 5 Gum is but a sponsor. It isn't denial, or hope for something greater, not for me. Simply the most believable conclusion in my mind. It's perfectly reasonable to believe they're only a sponsor for this, something on a much larger scale. You could believe that this is 100% a campaign for gum, but that's similar in my mind to saying that something like Coachella was built around making 5 gum money, or anything else they've sponsored for that matter (that was only meant to be a metaphor, and not a very good one. Lol). If this ends up being for gum alone, I'll be a bit disappointed, NOT because of the product itself (5 Gum is actually my favourite) but because that's been the immediate guess all along and I'd feel like this was a puzzle we all solved at square one. Honestly, tie ins to 5 Gum have been so painfully obvious from the very beginning, whereas the rest of the ARG has such an air of mystery to it. To encourage us to solve all of these mysteries, then drop us off at the beginning with a, "Yep. It was for gum." would be HIGHLY disappointing in my mind.

I hope I've made it clear how I feel about 5 Gum's association. Honestly if this ended up being for a new brand of pancake batter, I wouldn't even mind. Because at least it would be -unexpected- and that's all I -expect- from this. :3

It's kind of tiring to see a new gum tie-in "discovery" and watch as people flee the ARG all disgruntled, as if there hasn't already been enough tie-ins. I say expect more! Of course 5 Gum is involved. If you want, you can go to the store and buy a pack to chew and pass the time until the bigger picture of this ARG is revealed. This is all my opinion and I'll allow for the possibility of being wrong, naturally. But if I am, as I said on my blog, I'll have to start rethinking -everything- I was once certain about. Haha. WOAH big wall of text.

Hm. This is weird, but I believe this isn't that important. My alt account doesn't seem to have the log files, it only displays an image that says "Prelude".

I'm just stopping by to see if the Unforum managed to grab the Dallas Package? I can actually now tell you what i was used for. lol. Sorry for all the non trusting situation. What I was asked to do, since I was within distance and met certain "Requirements" I was chosen to drop the package off in Dallas. I mean they had to have people around the USA to drop the packages off to their required places. I was the one chosen for Dallas. Thats all I knew and thats all they told me. I know nothing else about whats going on now. I'm in the dark. I was just simply chosen to be a delivery boy. lol. Peace!

Dude. That is.... totally awesome! That's a pretty sweet chance to have had in this game, that's neat! Did they dictate the place, or did you have a little bit of leeway? How much instruction did they give you, if you don't mind me asking?

It's really hard to believe that they would ask a participant to do that since it would automatically disqualify you from partaking in the game.
