I'm hoping that "going back to our roots" means that either Jay (in the present) finds and explores Alex's house, or he finds some long lost footage of Marble Hornets. Also, I'd be happy with the original cast members returning. Especially Brian.

Maybe by "going back to our roots", they mean that Slender Man will go back in lurking mode being in the background and doing nothing as it used to be in the early entries.

I'm wondering if going back to their roots involves Jay discovering a bunch of Marble Hornets footage that Alex had digitised and put onto the external hard drive. (I am assuming, for the moment, that the external hard drive originally belonged to Alex, on the basis that the digital chest-cam seems to belong to Alex - or at least, he's been using one a lot like it - and that footage includes stuff that Alex filmed himself without Jay's involvement.

If that's true, it raises the delicious question of how come Jay has possession of the hard drive in the first place. If I had to guess, my bet would be that at some point in the seven months Jay discovers that Alex has been keeping important information from him (like "I'm a Slendy-puppet who wanders off to cuddle with my faceless overlord when you're not looking"). As a consequence, Jay broke away from Alex - though not before grabbing the external hard drive and the chest-camera in the hopes that there'd be useful information on them.

Perhaps Entry 29 comes at some point after this, when Jay's reviewed the footage and come to the realisation that Alex wasn't working for the Operator of his own free will, and is trying to track down Alex again - only to find that he's met some horrible fate?

Worth noting that he didn't really say "we're going back to our roots", just that it felt that way as he reviewed the finished product, that it was a "feeling" of going back to their roots. We may not even get the same impression.

Hahaha. I love the Unforum community's ability to overthink every fuckin' thing. I know we're desperate for some answers and a new upload, but sweet jesus ^this is all a little ridiculous.

I'm sure it doesn't mean anything -- not anything as substantial as you're trying to make it mean at least. He's getting back to his roots as a filmmaker. It probably means the entry will feel more like a more polished entry from season 1, rather than season 2. That's all.
