I don't really follow MH, I'll be honest, but I'm told that there are coded messages, and that fan "discoveries" have driven the story in the past, at least in Season 1. There are probably several other blogs and vlogs being discussed here that are also not ARGs. EMH has the most ARGishness of the SM stuff.

My point is not to dissuade conversation about Fear Mythos Blogs, feel free. I'm just saying that it's not ready for a subforum.

I have said in the past about re-naming this sub-forum Creepypasta ARGs.

I love this blog. It's a collection of creepypasta about the Fears, and for the most part, they're pretty good.

Ontological is straight-up my favorite, so far.

I haven't read through Jordan Eats Normally Now (http://djay32-paperdimension.blogspot.com/, also has a trailhead in News & Rumors here), but the alternate history version of it where the rapture occurs on the 21st and Jordan has to deal with it absolutely hilarious and pretty well-written for a stream-of-consciousness type of style, and it helps to suspend your disbelief for when he updates while under attack or on the run. It could be found here: (http://blindrapture.tumblr.com).

See, now this here is a GREAT resource for someone thinking about starting a new Vlog, which will keep them from going down the Slenderman route. Slendy is great and all but look at all those options! Hell, I can think of a dozen potential stories for The Choir alone. Blurs are a super easy effect to pull off, after all. It's sad to see that the vlog list on the site is basically empty (the only one listed is about Slenderman. Wow, really?)

Or the Skintaker for that matter.
But eh, I guess it never intended to be exhaustive.

Also: Closest to the Sun and Quiet Cacophony are the best blogs. >_> <_<

The Skin Taker would be the antagonist of the nonexistent children's show "Candle Cove" - which is the subject of a story written as a bunch of forum posts. It became infamous as a prank to pull on some random forum: go into the off-topic section armed with a bunch of alt accounts, and start posting each segment of the story as though it's happening right there, scare the shit out of everyone, ???, profit.

You can find the original here: http://www.ichorfalls.com/2009/03/15/candle-cove/

Unlike Slenderman and other "creepypasta" type horror, Candle Cove never pretended to be real (it's specifically attributed to the author, Kris Straub), so it would have a tougher time existing in an ARG. But that doesn't mean it can't be done. You can find some amusing attempts at recreating episodes on Youtube, for instance, with comments by viewers who are playing along.

My heart sank at the end.

It really strings you along, doesn't it? I was always really impressed with the way he emulated a conversation thread so well, with bits and pieces of everyone's memories of the show coming together so organically.

All those children piecing together a shared memory of something that doesn't exist... It really got to me.

Because the fear mythos is an interesting idea.

Now do you want another dose of trolling?
