 		A few theories ... VGER, Whales & Dogs ...
What if ... and maybe ...
Hi guys ... I'm a bit of a Sci-Fi nut and I've been reading (catchin up) on most of the posts here ... way too many lol ...

I have a few theories I'd like to share ...

1: The disappaearence of the dogs.

Initial encounters with ANY alien lifeform I would think would be based on the first thing the alien sees ... take some examples below ...

Remember Star Trek 1 & 4? ... the first thing the aliens see or communicates with are a probe called VGER (which was our VOYAGER probe) ... and then the Whales ... they were one of the first to send out communications to alien forms ... well alien lifeforms would know no different until they actually got to Earth ... So ...

Sending a Dog up into space will also be the first thing an Alien would encounter (back then) ... hence why I think this Super 8 alien reacts to the dogs and so probably thinks they are the intelligent species of our world ... the humans are kicking the sh!t out of it so it doesn't like them ... so I reckon there may be a connection there ...

2: The 3 White Dots (representing simple radiation symbols)

Reading the comic I see that the dots are already present all over the place on the retrieval ship and on the nuke heading for the Alien Craft ... but are not seen before this, during the discussion of the Operation Belt Trap mission ... So ...

I see the 3 dots representing the 3 Van-Allen belts 1,2,3 as written on the blackboard along with the 3 radiation symbols on the space map shown ...

Could be complete BS ... but it's my 2pence worth ... Wink ...



Changing the subject slightly ... and something that's racking my brain ...

What I don't get is that they are cutting up the alien craft to catch the alien and dump it in the cage ... so why is that part of the craft not turned into cubes??? ... did I miss something? ...

Refer to the editing room footage. "After subjecting the craft to a barrage of... {missing clip}, the craft defended itself by reconstituting into component cube parts." Whatever the "barrage of" was, it caused the breakdown into cubes. Apparently, cutting the craft doesn't cause this defense mechanism.

Small correction to the earlier part of your post - It was VGER not VEGA. Very Happy
And agreed, the aliens first seeing the dog in the spacecraft could easily lead them to believe that this is the intelligent species on the planet and that the humans are like red ants - annoying, grabby, and hurtful.
