 Slender Clichés

I think that this might answer some questions as to what is cliched in the 'Verse:

I feel dumb, because I don't know any other mythos other than Marble Hornets, so there are many cliche's I'm ingnorant of. I was kind of assuming Marble Hornets started most of it, though...am I wrong? Also, expect most of my early comments to be incredably stupid because I've only ever posted in MH's forum section.

Also, I just recently began watching Tribe Twelve, and yeah, the cliches are very perceptible. However, I found myself enjoying them very much, and I didn't exactly view it as "an MH rip-off"...I like that over time, Slenderman was deveoped his own set of "traits" despite his lack of character. XD

Actually, when i first saw Tribe Twelve i immediately thought of MH. But after seeing other vlogs and blogs i realized it's part of the mythos.

Some dick with no concept of immersion who stumbles upon the game and says to everyone "THIS SHIT ISN'T REAL AND YOU'RE ALL MORONS FOR THINKING IT IS REAL!"

Bonus points if he accuses the creator of being a cruel troll playing a prank on all these poor people who believe his or her story (I think Dreams in Darkness had one of these).

1) I'd almost like to see someone try a slender vlog without the camera distortion. MH pretty much invented the distortion, and so it seems original and works well for them. But I'd like to see someone try it without it, so that Slender Man could be there not only without the character's awareness, but also without the viewer's awareness...until it's too late.

2) I'd also love to see a more aggressive take on Slender Man like in the original SA thread. As in, Slender Man sees you = you're gonna soon be dead, impaled in a tree with your internal organs removed and stuffed into plastic bags.

3) and I'd like to see someone play with the idea that Slender Man can change his shape and height. In some of those original photoshops, he's the 8 footish slendy we know and love from all the vlogs. But in some of them, you don't notice him at first until you look up and realize that that tree wasn't really a tree after all.

The only vlog that seems to have dealt with the hanging people from trees is doingJACKALL, which seems to be over now. Marble Hornets played around with the idea of a size-changing Slendy in Entry 10, but that idea seems to have fallen by the wayside.

I guess what I'm saying is that the current cliches don't bother me too much, but I feel like people are holding to the cliches to slavishly and so there's much less creativity going around now than there was in the beginning when people were more willing to make a Slender Man of their own and try new stuff.

In my recently ended series, at first I tried not using distortion but then it almost became unavoidable somehow. Also I used dead body possession, in which Slendy can take control over dead bodies and speak through them.
