Thanks, I do love me some Dante! I sure do still wish we had part two though to see if there's anything more on it.

Some other notes:
'eraweb' from the sender's email is 'beware' backwards.

'diritta' can also mean 'right-hand' and it's juxtaposition on top of 'diaboli' (which is latin for 'of the devil') makes 'right hand of the devil'. Though that could just be an amusing coincidence. Laughing

Edit: DOH! I would just like to note that I actually got this email. I didn't even check. *facepalm* I got part 6.

Also, truth be told, this so-called Enochian text looks more like the Scrin text from Command & Conquer 3 to me. Just sayin'.

Do you know if there's a Scrin alphabet we can look at? I'm garbage at most strat games, so I never got into C&C. The most I did was some occasional Starcraft with friends. (Never online. I'm so bad I would have been murdered, quite possibly IRL.)

I don't know if there's a website out there with a 1:1 correspondence of Scrin letters to Roman, but I do have a copy of the Scrin font file that was distributed with a promo kit for C&C3. I might be able to whip something up with it, though.

(Also, now that I've had a decent chance to look it over, most of id does look like Enochian - but I swear some of it looks like Scrin characters too. Might just be coincidence though.)

I got this as well, with #4.

Dante's Inferno, hmm? Should be interesting.

Nice find with the alphabet. Definitely Enochian. I got down the path of constructed languages, just not far enough apparently.

Anybody had any luck with this dam yet? I feel like I've researched the damn things more than I should have in a lifetime.

No luck so far with the dam, no. Part of me is wondering if maybe I was wrong about it being a dam. As much as it definitely does look like one, I do notice there doesn't appear to be any water on the side we see. Even the dry side of dams usually has some water on it. It's tough to tell if there's any water on the other side from the angle we're seeing it at. So if anyone thinks it might be something else, definitely let us know.

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who's thinking that. The staircase visible in some of the higher numbered pictures seems to go into where the water would flow, if that helps anyone

Well, sometimes dams have staircases like that for maintenance or something to be used when there's no water flow.

Just to see if anyone else has noticed this (I'm probably just crazy) but if you look at the staircase and then directly above it from the picture's perspective, what does that look like to you? I zoomed in a good bit, and I can't decide if it looks like natural rock or like water.

edit: Scratch the part about being water, I just noticed that even though the top middle portion is still missing, from the surrounding images you can tell that it's a fairly narrow dam (if a dam at all) and that's probably rock from the slope it's built into.

Hey guys, I was killing some time and I think I found your dam.

Devil's Gate Dam, Pasadena CA: http://www.kcet.org/updaily/socal_focus/devils-gate-dam-pasadena-2.jpg

Suppose there might be something useful to you in the text below picture, as well, regarding the dam's history.

I feel so stupid now. I've been looking for this thing for hours and I overlooked one called DEVIL'S GATE? Man. My brainmuscles are not what they used to be. Excellent find!

*bangs head against wall*

At least I can use the excuse of being rusty at this, right?

Nice find.

Great find, ADarkly! That is most definitely the right dam: http://www.flickr.com/photos/superjuanvi/4529723970

Perfect name too. Before Dante traveled through the circles, he entered through the Gate of Hell where the famous line was written "Abandon all hope, ye who enter here."

Lol, an interesting tidbit:
Quote:
In 1920 flood engineers from the Los Angeles County Flood Control District built Devil's Gate Dam ... Named for a rock outcropping which resembles the face of a devil in Devil's Gate gorge.

*grumbles about nothing like this ever being referenced in the South where I can actually have some points of reference*

Okay, so I've read a good bit about this now. All I'm seeing is the business about the fire and cleanup. All of the agencies look real and OOG. LA County plans for the cleanup, etc. Anybody seeing anything involved with this that could actually lead us somewhere?

edit: Also, not that its necessarily relevant, but glossing over the Wikipedia article on Enochian, two things popped out at me. The first is that Anton LaVey apparently used it in some form in the Satanic Bible. Also, the music to the Dante's Inferno video game was sung in Enochian. Again, sort of a toss up on whether that has anything to do with anything, but thought I'd mention it given we're at a bit of an impasse right now.
