Hey brostates, I liked Slendy before he was cool. I liked Slendy before he was even a photoshop save file, I'm saaaaaaaah indie like that. I do not accept anything post-Victor Surge as canon because that is DETRACTING FROM HIS PURE AND GODLY INTENT; to make a picture on a message board that I dunno it was kinda scary I guess.

I liked slenderman before the 4th page of Create Paranormal Images on the Something Awful forums.

I'm not saying something as small as a red tie completely tunes me out from a series, not at all. I've still subscribed to and really enjoyed the vlogs that have done this. It's just a minor distraction to me. I feel like it just makes him out to simply be a weird guy in a suit, rather than some horrific monstrosity beyond human comprehension. If there is an actual purpose behind him wearing it (from what I understand, this may be the case in MLAndersen) then by all means, go ahead. If it's adding something to the mythos/your story, it can be a Winnie the Pooh tie for all I care. But if it's just "eh, he wears a red tie because that's what was in my closet" then that comes off as lazy to me.

As someone said a few posts back though, a detail as insignificant as tie color is no reason to completely disregard a series and I completely agree with that. I hope my earlier post wasn't misinterpreted as such.

Maybe Red-Tie Slendy is just trying to distract you with his brightly-colored tie long enough to grab the can of Crisco off the counter.
