Also, I feel like I should say something about this again (because it's in the link above). Please, PLEASE do not link anything from someone's personal blog without their consent. I do understand that you guys are fans/creators/friends and are buddy-buddy with other fans/creators, but it infuriates me to see people here just link things without thinking about immersion/personal business/etc. It's just more of a courtesy to ask before you go head first into posting things.

I have feeling this has something to do with me.

There is a topic I made for this and you don't have to read if you don't want your immersion ruined.

Quaint. Yet conveniently the little point about 'personal business' is left entirely untouched.

I have read through this thread a few times now and I am still confused about the nature of the supposed problem. Are people posting links to blogs or extracting information from them that is intended to malign the blog author personally? Is there some sort of abuse going on there? This, I would likely frown upon.

However, it seems like the real complaint is that users are referring to information posted to author blogs that might "ruin the immersion" of a particular campaign, perhaps by revealing in-game knowledge that the author would prefer to make known through the game at a later date. This is the author's problem, not ours.

Remember that Unfiction is always out-of-game. Meta information is perfectly acceptable to gather, catalog, and discuss. If you, as a campaign author, do not want particular information to be available or discussed, it is your job to protect it. Posting it to publicly accessible internet spaces is not the way to go about that.

No one needs your permission to link to a public web page you have created, nor to discuss its contents.

I am flabbergasted that anyone would try to come here and demand the right to "approve" what other users can and can't post.

@Phenom: It's not just you, it's happened in the past, too.

I admit, I am not a fan of the OOG topic. Never have been, don't think that I ever will be. I understand that you mean well, bro, I just don't think that it would have been needed here. most people just talked about it amongst themselves off of the forums.

But, well, it's just that I feel that that sort of thing might have been better if it was cleared with the mods and the people that have had their personal accounts linked. I feel that it's a bit different when I link my account because it's mine and I can do as I please with my personal accounts. But when someone links something of mine without my consent, I get a bit agitated.

Take it from another Slenderverse creator. Not everything that relates to their blogs/vlogs needs to be shared. I feel that there is more respect in talking about OOG news off of the forums rather than on the forums. But that's just my opinion, do don't take it too personally.

And pardon if it sounds a little over the top/rude/what have you as I am a bit terrible with words X.x;

Edit: @Bass: I know, though I personally don't care that much about immersion. I'm more so worried that if someone links to someone's personal blog, the person behind that blog that was linked might have something that they don't want out or might not have wanted linked.

I know that, even though people have open/public sites, some may not know how to go about making a private site so they resort to using tumblr/livejournal/deviantart/etc. to blog on. I would just like someone to ask the author before they post things, is all

I am in no way telling anyone to stop and if it did come off that way, I deeply apologize.

I respect your opinion, Chase, but I personally can't agree with it. Especially the part where you say that OOG info is regularly discussed off the boards, I've never encountered such. And, I think, many others don't, getting the majority of their Slender-Fix from this board. And for those who do, an OOG thread is an excellent way to get the behind the scenes info we do in fact desire.
The point I'm trying to work towards here is that your experience is clearly quite different from others', and your complaint that the board doesn't cater to that experience therefore feels dismissive and disrespectful towards others'.

(I'd also argue that posting private matters in a public space like your blog constitutes an oxymoron, anyone posting such does so because others can read it and thus spread the information around, but that's a larger argument for another day)

@Gaems: there are places like Skype and Angora (less so there) where I've heard that people talk about the OOG news. Some of the fans have talked amonst themselves either as a group chat or one on one chats about the OOG topics. That and, considering the Creators Chat on Skype, we pretty much come up with ideas with each other (amongst the random chatter) share a lot of our OOG news and what have you with others. Some people like to post it on Tumblr to share with the fans/creators there but I know that there are a few that would like their privacy.

I don't mind my stuff being linked, I would just like to be asked before hand. I reserve the right to post links to my own blog/tumblr because it is mine and I can do as I please with it (and wow, that came off rude, but I dunno how to word it better X.x; ).

but I know that there are other forums and subforums/thread that have Slenders on it. The others that I can think of are Slendermation, Something Awful, and, if I recall, There are places on Livejournal, DeviantArt, and there was even a thread about Slenders on the Hanna Is Not A Boys Name forum. But I know that not everyone gets along, alas. So merging everyone into one place is pretty damned hard (and sorry about the slight off topic-ness).

And I hope this makes a little more sense X.x;

However, the Angora chat is not UF and UF is not Angora, nor is UF a Skype channel. There is no affiliation.

I personally don't approve of discussing people's OOG tumblrs or whatever publicly on UF - it makes me feel creepy - but SpaceBass's rules are his rules and he is correct that people putting information out there can expect it to be picked up.

Outside of UF - at Angora or wherever else - things and rules get fuzzier due to the people, including creators, that interact in a variety of spaces. But that has nothing to do with Unfiction, at all. That's something you'd need to bring up at Angora or wherever else there is the issue.

Yes, I know some people get a bit mad when I do it.

I am friends with Jeff from EMH and Tati(TJ) from TJA Projects on FB. Not once have they yelled at me for linking there OOG stuff on the thread.

The only time I was yelled by a Slendy-creator was Josh Rallus from Angel's Game. But that was about me (accidentally) finding Tati's blog. Here is her response to when it happened:

I just really don't like it when people start reviving up drama that happened in the past. (I'm not saying your doing it right now, but I don't like to have to keep proving myself.)

Yeah, I'm on the fence about my own opinion on posting direct links here, but, hell, we should have the capacity to know that what we put out there is for anyone to see. So link away.

Chase, thanks for the thought-provoker. Wrote a response to it on WYK. Hope to see you in the Cult-Chat soon. <3

Phenom controls the horizontal.

Phenom is canon.

So I'm not the only one.

I'm still unsure of whether I should laugh or cry. I'll settle for just sitting here slowly shaking my head like I've been doing for the past fifteen minutes.
