 E-mails etiquette in games

Hello all, I'm rather new to the whole mythos, but I'm finding I quite enjoy it. Anyways I started commenting on several blogs, and after spending some time developing my character I finally started my own blog. When I started up my blog I also changed my account so that people could e-mail me, hopeing for the ocasional cross over request after I got furthur into the games. Instead I was quite suprised by two diffrent people E-mailing me almost immediatlly, in-character no less. This superised me, I was used to posting in character on other people's blogs, but over E-mail seemed much closer to real life, and at first I was almost concerned that these people were delusional (neither had offically made first contact, so I thought that perhapes they were taking the mythos as fact). I'm wondering what the policies for contacting people over E-mail is, and weather it should be in character or out of character, and if it is possible to change between the two after the first e-mail/set of e-mails? Any advice would be apreciated.

It depends on the person, really. I, as someone who doesn't care much about maintaining immersion, tend to send all my emails OOC. Others that I know prefer to keep up the characterization even during private communication, unless necessity forces them to speak out of character.
Sometimes, in character email can work out for some minor things. However, if you're working on a highly detailed crossover, you may wan tto talk out of character if you want the plot of the crossover to make any sense. It's generally a good idea to mark any emails you're sending that aren't in character as OOC (out of character) or OOG (out of game).

I have to say, the reason Jcarlson has an e-mail address (other than I needed one to set up the blog) is because it's his e-mail address. If someone e-mails him and gets a reply it's going to be the character replying.

My main two e-mail addresses hav the same beginning part, but the @yahoo.ca is my personal address, and my @gmail.com is 100% in game.

I'm PMing right now (not slender), and I've made a separate in-character email, so I'd say that it's the best strategy. Keeps the lines clean, you know?

It honestly depends. For the characters in Stopping Lights, I don't give a shit, so I sent that to my personal Email. Though, it's only Chase, Michi has her own email and Lon doesn't have one XD;

For my secret blogs, the three of them all have their own email addresses so they'd respond in character. But, if for whatever reason, someone needed to get in contact with me, I'd give them my OOG email :3

Often times, I try to keep it as IG as possible. Unfortunately, there are times that this ends up not being the case. I'd say keep it IG unless you have to, and when you can't anymore, [OOG: Include the rest of your message in tags like this or something]. That's what I do.

Thank you, everyone, for your quick replies. I guess I'll keep everything in game in my corraspondances from here on out. If I have to post out of game I'll just follow some of these guidlines.

Now everyone come check out my blog, I won't provide you a link or tell you how to get there or which one it is, but that shouldn't stop you Wink .
