so, i got a little tired of reading theories at about page 17, but i just thought of something -

i'm assuming it's just a coincidence, but what color hoodie did the random dude listening to headphones in the woods have?

i forget which entry, and i know it's a far-fetched thingy. but it's just a fun thought

I want to say his hoodie was green or blue - some dark colour.

::goes back to check:: Yup. Blue-purpleish.

I don't think the hiker has any significance to the story. To me he was just put int to show Jay's paranoia.

oh i totally agree, i was just adding a fun little thing to think about. to mix it up from the repetition in theories. if the hiker was actually significant we'd have known it by now. i did like how he just froze in place though (if i recall correctly)

I thought we were going to see him do a little shake before zipping up as Jay walked over to him.

Okay, I'm going to pose a scenario regarding TTA that I believe connects the facts fairly comprehensively, but recall again that this is in no way definitive, nor do I fully support it, I simply like to connect the videos how I can.

Alex films a student film called Marble Hornets, with Jay as script supervisor, and Tim and Brian as actors (this sets up the cast as I'm going to discuss them, others will come up as I introduce them, any not mentioned are to be disregarded). During the process, the four become the subjects of the Operator's... whatever he does. Alex catches the worst of it, because he's been stalked since childhood (potentially), Tim gets it the second hardest, because he's taking anti-seizure meds that keep his mind aware during pronounced Operator contact, whereas others black out and forget. Brian gets it next-worst, because he has some sort of prolonged contact that seems to cause him to blend in and out of people's memory. Jay is barely affected.

Years later, Jay looks through the tapes he obtained from Alex, and starts to realize what was happening. Brian, sees the videos and finally pieces together what has been torturing him all of these years, and creates an account with which he can egg Jay toward clues that he sees Jay missing. Tim, shaken and slightly insane from his prolonged contact with the Operator, is interviewed by Jay, and realizes that maybe he needs to look into these happenings further. Seeing some of the transactions between TTA and Jay, realizes that if he shows up at the house, he can scare Jay away and hopefully stop him from rousing the Operator once more. Tim then shows up at Jay's house, realizing that the Operator has been roused whether Tim likes it or not, hoping that if he offers Jay up as a sacrifice, it can end early. Brian, hoping that through investigation, the whole thing can end, stays at the house to make sure that he can protect Jay, and indeed he does, saying that he's "found" Jay "forever," and will protect him.

Tim becomes infuriated with Brian, and slowly plans to take over both channels to send a warning, as well as following Jay to the house later to attack him. The Operator then gets Jay, transporting him to the "basement lair." After these events, Tim enacts his plan and sends a warning to both that their time is limited, and that he'll be changing the game for both of them. He has found Alex, and plants a camera in Alex's house, primed with footage from the end of the Marble Hornets filming, when Operator distortion was ruining footage so thoroughly that nothing made sense, and conditions became unworkable. The Operator arrives, and something terrifying happens, Amy is lost. Brian is so scared by the attack on Alex and his girlfriend that he stops posting, but continues to live up to his promise of "forever" and protects Jay, as well as facilitating his investigation.

Jay goes to find Alex, who sent him the tape hoping for help, from an address he believes is safe. Tim recovers the address, and lies in wait, hoping to kill Alex and end this, as he's cooked up a theory that it's all tied to Alex (perhaps after finding the tape that he later posts on Jay's channel as Enttry #37). Alex and Jay find each other at the house eventually, Tim ambushes them, and Alex, realizing that Tim set them up, attempts to kill Tim. Jay prevents this, but Tim is severely injured, and the two drive away, leaving the psychopath to wallow in his injury. Alex explains his situation to Jay, and leaves to follow a lead on Amy's location, telling Jay to wait for him to call. Jay waits, Alex calls, and the events of the recent entries come out. Brian saves the camera, etc. Alex and Jay go back to a Hotel, Alex explains things slightly better, and the two go for a hike the next day (or so), where Alex tries to explain as much as he knows about the Operator. Other things happen, which have not been seen.

Tim heals up, and plots to wipe Jay, leaving him with no memory and (kill, eliminate, separate Jay from?) Alex, not taking into account that somewhere in the mix they picked up a new friend, Jessica. He enacts this plan, causing Jay to start "season 2." After Tim realizes that Jessica is in the mix, he stops into the hotel, kills or kidnaps Jessica, and sends Jay running. Brian starts dropping hints to help Jay out again, in the form of his still cryptic videos, some if not most of which may refer more to content we haven't seen that he knows about from his time following our heroes. Later, Tim finds Jay at whatever location he was at, and puts him to sleep, posts Enttry #37, and takes him to the tower, hoping that that will deter Jay from... whatever he's afraid Jay will do (find Alex? find out what's really happening? Meh.) And Jay miraculously recovers his footing, investigating continually, leading us to present.

Again, it's a theory, and I hope it jives well with the evidence, but if I missed anything, feel free to gently correct me.

I'm... well... yeah. Count me in among those who believe this theory.

It explains the "we" in Entry #####.

It explains "Return," "Warning," and "Intermission," which I had almost thought irreconcilable with one another.

Now I wonder which of the other videos were sent by which TTA.

Don't know if this has been brought up in the topic as a theory or not, but I wonder if the videos on the hard drive were taken from Alex, or at least the chest cam's point of view.

They were. 42 was from the hard drive and was recorded while Alex was wearing the chestcam, remember?

Yes, but are all of the videos on the hard drive from the chest cam or just some?

That's the question I meant to ask. Sorry, rough day and lack of energy makes for stupid questions. ^_^'

But yeah, I'm wondering if we're going to be simultaneously seeing J and Alex's points of view at (nearly) the same time. Hopefully not for the more mundane bits, like when they're in the same hotel room talking, unless there's something important that happens from Alex's point of view that doesn't happen from J's, and vice-versa. I think it'd be interesting to see just what Alex was doing when he was by himself for the rest of the six months.

( There was no way for me to type that last sentence without sounding oddly perverted. So sorry. )

It sounds plausible.
I like the set up, however..

"Tim heals up, and plots to wipe Jay, leaving him with no memory and (kill, eliminate, separate Jay from?) This is definitely wrong.
You forgetting that Jessica had the last 7 months of her life wiped away too. Presumably, not as soon as Season 2 starts but sometime before.
However, we can simply alter your timetable to say the "disturbing noises" from Jessica's room late at night was Timasky altering Jessica's memories, should that not be the case.

You also forgot to note (in the most likely situation) that Brian plants his "Blasky" hoody in Alex's car, in an attempt to frame Alex as himself.

Sorry if this has been said before, but Blasky can't be Jessica. They haven't MET her at this point in the story.

Although I don't believe Blasky is Jessica, just because they haven't met her yet doesn't mean it can't be her. Nobody's met TTA yet, and he/she still exists. I hope that made sense Confused

Y'know, I see two really easy solutions for the whole "Where's Brian?" debate:
1. After Alex cancelled Marble Hornets the cast all moved on and went back to their own lives since they weren't so much Alex's friends as they were just assigned to him through casting at college. Except Jay obviously.
2. Brian's dead. Dead by gunshot. There ya go. TTA done popped a cap up Brian's ass.

There is far better evidence for this from an OOG perspective, especially since they technically haven't MET Hoody, either.

I don't believe that Jess is Hoody either, but let me paint a picture with the available data, yes? Perhaps Jess is connected with MH from the past (heck, she might be the mystery girl from #8, we have no idea) or at least some contact with the Operator, and knows that wearing a mask protects her. She's in the woods for some reason, at the same time as Jay. She sees all of the things that happen to Jay, and realizes that he's going to need that camera, so she gets her hoodied self over, picks it up, and takes it to the car, all while Jay is running madly through the woods in confusion. Later, she sees Jay again, in a non-Operator instance, and figures she can help out. She talks to the guys, agrees to travel with them, and stuff happens (that we haven't seen yet) leading to the memory wipe.

Jessica as Hoody IS plausible, but unlikely. Whoever was wearing that hoodie seems to have had a more masculine frame (although it is obscuring clothing and could disguise her gender fairly well).

Regarding WhyYouBawwing's theories on Brian: sure. Those easily could have happened. Brian could never be seen again. But it's just as plausible to say that we might see him again, and your constant abrasive antagonizing of anyone who doesn't hold the same theories as you is getting childish. Get over yourself. We're not trying to conveniently wipe players out by assuming that they're gone forever, we're trying to use the available data to build plausible theories and solve the puzzles, predict what comes next, etc.
