when and how much is the D23 expo?

It's in august, no idea on how much. I know it's not terribly expensive though. If you have an AP with parking, I suggest you park in the pumba or whatever lot that is near the convention center (it's not on property) that way you won't have to take the trams/shuttles there.

Nope, looks like you just have to pay more for the tickets.

I am only going on Saturday to D23 (cash flow issues...) but would love to see some Tron/FL related action. The schedule is not up yet, I don't think, but I am thinking there will be a future movies panel in there somewhere that might present a good FL opportunity.

(In case some of you were wondering if a day there is "worth it", I went 2 years ago, only 1 day, and I felt like I was able to see pretty much everything in that time. There were some lines, though, and panels did get filled up, but generally it was a fun time.)

if i can round up the $125 I'll bring my sign from the SF event! Do we know if and when anything about Tron will be mentioned?

They are having events there as well, but your problem is that you don't have a convention center next door. Yes, I am holding you accountable for lack of said building project. Razz

*cough* They use the Wide World of Sports for events all the time *cough*

They have a convention center on property. The following is a quote from Disney's Coronado Springs website...
Quote:
With its distinctive Southwestern style, Disney's Coronado Springs Resort is one of the largest single-level convention hotels on the East Coast, offering more than 220,000 square feet of space, a 60,000-square-foot ballroom, 45 breakout rooms, an 86,000-square-foot exhibition hall, high-speed and wireless Internet connectivity, booth-controlled A/V and lighting, remote control lighting and projection, state-of-the-art sound systems, satellite up/down link capabilities and ceiling-recessed screens.

WDW has an entire website dedicated to large-scale events. (http://disneymeetings.disney.go.com/) Just convention space at the hotels is 600,000 square feet. And all told, between avalable meeting spaces at the parks and whatnot it's probably close to 4 or 5 million square feet.

Having been to a few conventions on the Disney property both Disney-orientated and not ... they're pretty darn cool. But again it's probably not cost effective enough to drag the official Disney Cooperate functions across country for a few day event.

The Anaheim Convention center's waiting area alone is a third of the hotel space alone Very Happy

I think they like having it in a physically removed building even though they have to pay to use it. I remember the time they held a disneyana convention at the DL Hotel it was a mass of people all over.

Great idea!!

I think a D23 Pulse is a great idea! I will be at the expo for all 3 days. Plus, I noticed that Alan Bradley aka Bruce Boxleitner will be there signing autographs (although it does sound like you have to pay to get one). Schedule details are still forthcoming, a few more recently came out -

"Saturday, August 20, 2011

11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

The Walt Disney Studios – A fascinating behind-the-scenes glimpse at the exciting roster of projects on the horizon at The Walt Disney Studios. From exclusive video clips and live performances to filmmaker discussions and star appearances, this session will be hosted by Rich Ross, Chairman, The Walt Disney Studios; Sean Bailey, President of Production, The Walt Disney Studios; John Lasseter, Chief Creative Officer, Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar Animation Studios; and Kevin Feige, President of Production, Marvel Studios."

That panel would probably be a good time to run an operation . . . .

Damn

I was planning on being at Disneyland on Saturday, possibly going to both D23 on Friday or Sunday (or both)!

If it wasn't for a prior engagement with a group of mine on Saturday, I would've bent over backwards to go on Saturday!

Who else is going to be at the expo? Will a D23 Pulse be possible? I think it would be really cool to do something!
