[SPEC] The name Operator I'm new on these forums. I've mostly just watched MH and discussed with people I know IRL, so I will probably be out of the loop on some common theories. Please merge or redirect me if there is a thread devoted to this topic already, but a quick forum search only turned up mentions of it in other threads.
What do you think the name the Operator means? I've got a few possible theories I've been mulling over.
1. He "operates" humans via mental influence- this isn't me, just one I've seen around which seems to have some support.
2. He's an "operator" of some sort of device. Perhaps his powers of spatial warping are not inherent, but the result of some sort of tool? If so, this tool may be the "ark" that totheark wants, though I somewhat doubt this.
3. He's an "operator" in the sense of a covert operator. My initial impressions of the Operator in Season 1 were of something similar to the Men in Black of conspiracy theory lore (inhuman, possibly alien, thing that wears a suit and tries to suppress information), but the series seems to have gone in a more mystical direction with his nature, if Alex's hints about the forest and criminals are really related to its origin.
4. He's an "operator" in the sense of a medical operation. He is doing something to the Marble Hornets cast in the time that they black out, possibly causing both their medical problems and the possible space distortions around him. If this is the case, what is the goal of his operations? I'd like if it were a slow process to make his victims into Operators themselves, or something of the sort.

Think will make people laugh. The word Oprator means user it referenced in the cross words operator four letters. Fact some computer are called Operator user Friendly now go ask if any could be Proxy Friendly or Masky Friendly people how about side character friendly. They also use the word based there because kind of brand name. The Slender Man is more catch all have the Operator to keep Marble Hornets copyrighted people.

...I think that's the most coherent that Tharol has ever been.

#4 is plausible, but not only in the sense of medical operations. The Operator seems to be linked to more than one type of "operator," including...
1. Medical Operator (like you mentioned; there was a burnt-down hospital in Entry #51)
2. Train Operator (Train tracks in Entry #51)
3. Phone Operator (Sidetone)
And maybe more that I've forgotten or never heard of.

It's obvious. The Operator is an evil timelord. When timelords become adults, they choose names for themselves, like "Doctor" or "Master." For those of you who have watched Doctor Who, you may remember that in the episode with the space ship with the french clowns on it, he used psychic powers to communicate with that one girl. The Operator does the same thing, and that's how Alex knows his name.
A timelord can disguise his TARDIS as anything, so as to blend in with his surroundings. The Doctor's is always a police box because he likes it that way. The Operator's could be anything at any time (I'm guessing usually a tree), allowing him to incarcerate anyone indefinitely. Also, a TARDIS would surely have enough technology to easily wipe someone's memories.
When The Operator is near, he uses his sonic screwdriver (or a similar device) to mess with the camera. This explains why there is no consistant pattern of distortion. He can choose how and when to distort the footage.
Motives? Perhaps he wants to open a gateway into another dimension or time stream. One in which his home planet of Gallifrey wasn't destroyed. For some reason I guess he requires Alex for this. Whatever.

"operator" has to be something that slendy puts into their head. here's why i think that:
both alex and totheark use the word operator, but alex uses it when he's first encountering slendy early on (entry 11 can't be that late in 2006). later on, when we see alex posessed in.. i believe 46? he writes operator on a piece of paper. we know for a fact slendy took over him at this point.
does this also indicate that tta is someone who was once taken over?
the only other explanation i can think of is that TTA was stalking alex and kept repeating the phrase to him somehow
i really wish the story were more complex then just slendy posessing someone to kill people for him, it's kind of meh

I have no intention to join the "let's-criticise-every-pravado-post" band, but it's almost impossible to not fall into this, if you keep taking theories for granted. The Operator posessing people to kill for him is one of the most plaussible theories arround, but it's still that: a theory. Now, if you are going to take it to the level of saying that Marble Hornets has a low complex story because of one theory, you sir are pissing the wrong tree, like they say in my country. There's a lot of things that theory does not cover, like Masky, TTA, and all others which I can't think of now.
Really pravado, I don't mean to be rude or anything, but if you don't like MH, or Slenderman, or whatever (judging for every other rage posts you make about all the others Slenderman Mythos' Vlogs) go watch midnight meat train or saw, those will have the "complex" story you are looking for.
EDIT: Or maybe you are the best and most skilled troll I have ever seen, since almost 2/3 of your posts causes people to go and criticise you while it drives them out of the discussion.
