Arcade Tokens Im Thinking of doing a run, anyone interested? I dont know about anyone else but i own a few arcade machienes mhyself, and i am thinking of doing a run fo tokens, the problem is the setup charge, it is $195 per side, i was thinking of starting with a Flyns Arcade backed with home of tron. to keep these from being confused with the ARG ones i am thinking of going nickle plated brass 0.984 (35mm) these are the tokens that are basically quarter sized. would anyone be interested in going in on the die cost? the minimum order is 5000 tokens the total cost after adding the die would be $0.29 per token if enough people are interested we can do a bigger run and get them cheeper eg: if we can order 10000 (next price brake) they go to $0.20 per token. let me know if anyone is interested and how manny tokens you would want.

Re: Arcade Tokens Im Thinking of doing a run, anyone interested? cant say I'd really want to "chip in" on these with you as i have pretty much had my fill of arcade tokens between searching for FA SDCC 2009 tokens, and then dishing out FA SDCC 2010 & FA DCA tokens. however if you do make your own I'd be willing to buy some from you for my personal collection.

I would say that if it did not absolutly had to have "Home of Tron" on the back you could have just bought a boat load of the Flynn's Arcade tokens from the ElecTRONica event (they might have extended it as planned). That way you could get as many as you actually want at $.25/token rather than having to buy so many.

Wonder if the FA at electronica would sell rolls of tokens as opposed to getting them individually.

That they might not do, the only people working in the arcade are 2-3 (1 on the floor and 2 in the office, which might also be a control center for other stuff) and the one of the floor seems to have 2 duties, get out of order signs/refunds for machines that stop working and give a token for people who turn in the fastpass coupons.
Speaking of the extension, did they get rid of the preview for the movie now that it's out? Also, is the Troncore part for WOC gone? (I don't enter the parks after the first week of Dec because it's hell)

They still had the movie preview when I went after the Norelco screening. And did you just turn in any fast pass for a token (Im guess just a regular token, if not, I want)?

The way it works/worked is that on the days of the event the programs for the fastpass machines (at least DCA and possibly DL) are set up so that they randomly will spit out an extra card with the printing that says to take it to Flynn's and get a free token, it's just the same ones in the old 80's token dispensers from the hotel. So no worries, the most you're missing out on is a collection of printed vouchers for tokens.
Going by the prices noted, I almost wonder if Disney is turning a profit on the change dispensers alone? Clearly, people are buying tokens, but not cashing them all in. (either to collect or just get tired/bored and move on).

Agreed. So I just wrote the Director of ElecTRONica. He's pretty good about responding... we'll see what he says, but i doubt its possible for a regular guy (like us) to make such a purchase.

yeah, and the reason for such a run is i need 1-2k for my machiense in my collection, but the rates get much better if you order 5k+ if i do a 2k run they run about$0.50 per token...
and i know disney is sell thuring more of the tokens than they use, it appears that all the tokens are new or verry little use that come out of the machenes. pluss i know when i was there i got $40 worth of them to bring back to FL and saw several others doing the same....

I think they might be having to refresh the supplies or the reason they look so new and clean is that they really aren't used that much. If I recall the event runs 6 hours 3 days a week and the tokens are likely made to be durable, so they could barely used compared to other arcades.

i asked about this just now so we'll see if he lets us know...
In the meantime he gave me some amazing news:
Quote:
As far as the tokens, I spoke with Karen and she thinks we may need to be able to work something out. How many would you want?
So there you have it! Lets assume tokens are face value $.25 and shipping is on you via a Flat rate box ($5, $15, etc)how many would you want? Please email me at SoCalSteveMartinSPLAT Yahoo.com or text me (2133532) thats a 619 area code.
