Couldn't you tell by the bracelet he was wearing? (Or was that just some grass stuck in his talons?)

On-topic: I WAS going to watch this again to frame-by-frame the distortions for clues, but now I'm too scared. Someone else be brave for me and post your results! I feel like this "new" kind of distortion means something.

I feel like EVERY entry has a new distortion...

Not exactly. Some of the "tricks" used to create the editing seem to be the same. The "visual tearing" where the frame splits between two different points is created using the same effect. I know it's kinds of an OOG way to look at at it, but still... Usually it's either sound distortion or a bit of image distortion but this super-contrasted distortion is much like TTA entries (as has been previously mentioned I'm sure) and it seems more like the video has been "eaten" away in places by heat moreso than any kind of "psychic" intervention. Now, because this is all shot digitally that makes no sense but in reel-type movies heat eats through the film and melts and distorts it in a fashion much like that.

Also, did anyone else notice the extreme lack of focus during the whole thing? Cameras kept going in and out of focus. I don't recall this being such an issue in previous entries. Maybe happenstance, maybe purposeful.

In my opinion, there hasn't been a pattern to distortion. I welcome anyone who has proof otherwise, but that's always been in my mind. Even when the first few entries had the same "split", in later entries this is lost in favor of not visual tearing, but static, discoloring, and even something similar to what we saw in this Entry before he enters the forest.

Also, the audio varies. We hear all sorts of different sounds ranging from static, distorted speech, beeping, buzzing, crackling, hissing, etc...

The focus thing? It happened once when one character came into view, I think. I remember it before, just can't recall it now.

Well when The Operator has been fairly active he produces that wildly colored distortion. The visual tear to me signifies teleportation and nothing else...as to the static I think that maybe they started that as a slendy influenced distortion(ie Jessica and Tim and TTA) as basically a lesser form of it.
The sounds I have no clue on...occasionally The Operator seems to roar but that might just be distortion but there really isn't much consistency.

So yeah honestly I think it might just be the creators changing things up even if it doesn't mesh up with last season oh so well..

Yeah, that's what I've been thinking. Just experimenting with new sounds, new ways to distort them.
Shame, I kind of wish there was some pattern to the visual tearing or the sounds.

Like, static when someone is saying something influenced by the Operator's will... or visual tearing when he teleports... Discoloring when he's close by...

Hell, the Operator's even been known to MOCK the cast by echoing their own words back (at a lower pitch, of course). Remember the "Hello?"

I don't think there's a pattern TO the distortion, just to the distortion effects used. You only have so many filters to work with. Again, this is sort of an OOG way to look at it.

Also, what was going on with Alex and the quick pan down to his knee after he enters the more open point of the woods. He moves some sticks out of the way, yes, but he like -- itches his knee or something. I thought it sort of a silly thing to do given the circumstances, especially when on the direct pan up there was no Slendy to make it make sense.

I also think in some ways this video makes Slendy less scary to me -- he's too visible for too long and you see him too many times directly, face on. He's scarier when you THINK you see him -- like I THINK I do when J is looking across the driver's seat of the car toward Alex, before Alex goes to knock on the door.

(Also, hello -- why would he knock on the door of an apartment he was living in? Shouldn't he have keys? I don't think he lives with Amy and Jessica.)

I suppose it's more important WHEN distortion is used, not what kind it is, as well...
But why a random hole? Why would that cause distortion?

Also, I agree. The visual on the Operator was kind of... surprising. I wished they would have had the camera freak out a tiny bit more and have him move forward. *shrugs* But maybe they wanted to show off their new prop/costume~.
I agree. Playing Where's Waldo with Slendy is more fun.

Also, last time he was there, he jumped out a window and his memory blacked out. I doubt he would have his keys with him...

He doesn't have his keys with him because he jumped out the window, but he can still call Amy's roommate Jessica, who also lives at the house, without it being any big deal? I'm more inclined to believe that he just doesn't live there at all, but hung out there often enough to have started leaving things around in Amy's bedroom/closet/what-have-you.

Also, as far as the knee-brushing-or-alternatively-itching action, I'm not sure what to think of it. It seems like a pretty casual movement - too casual for a I-am-going-into-the-woods-to-meet-a-supernatural-creature-from-realms-beyond-human-imagining...thing, but it might mean nothing. Maybe when he stooped over a twig poked him in the knee? Maybe he just didn't want his pants to get dirty?

Why isn't Jay controlled?

maybe jay wasn't an original target of sorts. notice in the video with tim acting and slenderman in the window, that jay seems to be the most unaffected by that time. everyone else was possibly kinda with alex in their own worlds, just alex was the only one filming (thanks!)

juss sayin'.

jay actually says he's freezing in the house, but alex feels fine

Very good point. Razz
Hmm... wouldn't his house key be on the ring with his car keys?
Or is it just Amy and Jessica's house? Hm... But he was sort of living there... ugh. Good question...

Well he is seemingly getting less evil and evil by the minute...yeah it is scary that he is there but he's gotten too obvious. I mean Entry 29 and 40 are good direct approaches but one of the things that I loved about Slender Man was how subtle he was. It's not only that he is terrifying and can destroy all your dreams IT'S THAT YOU DON'T KNOW HE IS THERE WHEN HE IS DOING IT!(ie Entry 11)

I mean it could be because The Operator is trying to see through his proxies more so that he can't be focused on moving(he seemed to move pretty good when going after J rather than focusing weird energies on Alex) as much...but it just takes the horror out of it and seems more jump! im scared.

My current theory is that Alex's apartment is a tiny place that he probably shares with some roomates or is too tiny, too messy, too whatever to bring a girl over to. Lots of guys have this issue. Amy lives in a nice divided house with her friend Jessica and it's bright and large and clean there. It would not be unthinkable that though Alex pays rent somewhere else, he more or less lives with his beloved girlfriend in her much nicer abode. He keeps the majority of his stuff at his place, but has clothes, his laptop, and whatever else at Amy's.

At night, he watches you sleep, you know.
Just bends right over the bed... gazing down at you...
sometimes, he strokes your face lightly with a tentacle.

You know that moment when you wake up in the middle of the night for no reason?
That's him. He slinks back into the corner and waits for you to fall back asleep.

Well after reading this thread he's going to have one HELL of a wait.

Everyone seems to think that this video proves that Alex is a slenderminion. He might be, but I have some other theories.

1.) Alex doesn't want to tell Jay where he lives. While this could be because Alex is a minion and needs to be able to hide from Jay, it could just as easily be the opposite: Alex suspects (or knows) that Jay is a (probably part-time unwitting) minion and doesn't want Jay to be able to find him while he's under Slendy's control. This is supported largely by the huge gaps in Jay's memory: These could easily represent times he's been under Slendy's control. This doesn't mean that Alex wasn't (or isn't now) under Slendy's control.

2.) Alex seemed to know where he was going. I think he did know, or at least he had some idea and was intentionally trying to find the Slender Man. I don't think it's because he's a minion. Through the video, Alex is somber and frankly, I think he's getting to the end of his rope. I think in his desperation he decided it was time to confront Slendy.

3.) Slendy doesn't attack Alex directly/Alex gets up and walks towards Slendy. I have no explanation for Slendy not physically attacking Alex other than that he didn't need to. It seems that everyone thinks that when Alex got up and walked towards Slendy, it was slow and deliberate, "zombielike". I attribute the pace and deliberate movement to Alex's need to will himself to keep moving towards Slendy in the face of his apparent psychological/physiological attack.

Just my $.02.

^This. I already posted something similar. I'm in the same sort of boat with you. Alex isn't necessarily a minion at this point -- he may be after this video but I really feel like he was trying to DO something, rather than run around trying to find things out by skirting the issue -- Slenderman. He chose (stupidly perhaps) to face it head-on.

I also agree with this. He seemed quick comfortable on that couch and Amy did say WE when talking about the camera.
