I don't disagree with your interpretation here, but it doesn't ease the problems I'm having with the scenario as a whole, and that's largely to do with the house event preceding it. Alex lying to Jay, totally okay with that, be it for altruistic or nefarious purposes. But then why involve Jay at all. Jay is clearly just hanging out in his hotel waiting for Alex to Do Things at this point. He doesn't leave his room until Alex calls, doesn't know where the house is, and doesn't appear to particularly know why they were going there. Heck he doesn't even get out of the car. The whole endeavour appears to be a completely wasted trip entirely prompted and led by Alex. So if Alex was just going to go into the forest alone at the end of it all, why did he involve Jay at any step in the process that day? I can only think something happened between the house footage and the forest footage, but Jay's deliberate merging of those two separate events - the first time I think he's ever done that - seems to deliberately be ruling out that possibility. I dunno if I'm articulating it well but the whole thing sits really wrong with me.

Entry 43 seems to be the day after Entry 42. Jay is situated in a hotel room, and Alex starts him out on the first step of "Chasing Amy" (apologies for the pun). Jay gets to see the house Alex and Amy tried to escape from, hears the details of what happened after the tape ended, and takes footage of the house as Alex tries the door. Alex was intending to have Jay film the day before, since he had asked Jay "where's the camera?" in Entry 42.

I think the intent of that first day trip was to film the exterior of the house. There are a few possible reasons why Alex would want Jay to do this:
1) Jay never scouted houses before going inside, and he was attacked/stalked every time, so Alex may have been trying to be overly-cautious to avoid problems. The outing may have been to collect footage so they could "diagnose" the house.
2) Everything Jay films is available for Masky/ToTheArk/etc to see (eg: Alex calls Jay to meet him at the park, and Forecast gets filmed). Alex could be using that footage to lure the interested party into that house so they can confront him/her soon.

The footage from Alex's chestcam does seem completely separate from Jay's footage. It does seem like Alex is trying to force an Operator-trance while wearing the chestcam to find out what happens - and where he goes. If it was an experiment, a second person would only interfere with the results.

Please don't kill me...but I'm in the teleporting camp. Personally I don't think that it matters all that much if it was or not, but it would make sense that the way to get to Slendy's Clubhouse would involve teleportation. Remember, teleportation does exist in the MH universe, e.g. Entry #24. OOG, they could have prepared us for that by mentioning how Alex went from Amy's roof to his apartment...but of course that could also just be explained by a slendertrance. I dunno.

Slenderman looks different because they're shooting in HD now and more details show up, so they changed him up a little bit. It's pretty clear that the original look in Season 1 was pretty adhoc but he is always so obscured that you can't get a handle on details. HD by its very nature is going to capture more detail, so they had to GIVE him more detail. Now he doesn't just look like a dude with long arms wearing a sock over his head.

It's on purpose, but meaningless.
But surely there is meaning to be discerned from which details they choose to add?

they didn't add anything... season 2 is all in HD, which is why you can see indents on slendys face that you couldn't see in season 1. they said during an interview this is why they won't recreate season 1 in HD

Sudden Thought:

Remember the key back in Entry #28? Thinking maybe it goes to the house.

Could have been picked up by Jay from Alex or Jessica (the latter going back to the Failsafe Exchange theory mentioned in the Jessica's Connection thread).

EDIT: wrong entry, corrected.

Are you referring to the forest? Because if so, you can pretty much clearly see the bottoms of the trees when Alex is about to go through the tunnel. It's not teleporting; it's just a shitton of overgrowth.

I know it's probably being generally disregarded as a silly theory, but if the Operator really is trying to absorb people's facial features it would explain all the masks. (Or has this been said already? I feel kind of like it has.)

^I like that. I originally thought the noticable facial features in #40 were a costume error, but now that it's been in there twice, it seems too deliberate. The SlenderBob TallPants incident showed us Troy doesn't take kindly to mistakes.

 Lighting contrast =/= teleportation
For reals.

People really need to learn how consumer camcorders work, specifically regarding how they react to vast changes in lighting conditions that occur in about half a second.

Dark -> bright = flash of light as the iris adjusts.

Bright -> Dark = pitch black as the iris adjusts.

Also, dark areas viewed from brighter areas appear much darker than they actually are. Everyone remember that optical illusion of the black and grey checkerboard with the shadow across it where it asked you to say which square was darker... AND THEY WERE BOTH THE SAME COLOR?!?!

omg magicks.

C'mon people, a camcorder's iris is very similar to our own irises in it's basic functionality. There was no teleportation in this episode. He walked through a freaking wall of vines.

tl;dr: Learn to forest, technology, and anatomy.

(post schooling edit)

Look back to how Jay teleported in season 1. There really wasn't anything out of the ordinary other than we were all like, "Huh, that's weird. It doesn't appear that he exited from the same room he just entered. Funny that. Wait, how'd he get in the closet? Hang on, what's this basement shit!" As far as I recall, there were no flashes of light or obvious super-imposes.

HEY LOOK ALL CAPS ARE REALLY REALLY FUN

No, I'm not buying any superimposition, because you can see the trees the instant Alex bends down, and you can tell that it's not a cave but a short tunnel that's right beneath the growth.

Slightly off topic, but with the sort-of talk with Slendy "growing" a face (but I think it's either an OOG mask issue or a branch), I think that he is turning into this.

Does that mean this ARG is all a fabricated realty created by machines?!

I second this.

Yeah I just remembered that key. It needs to fit in somewhere soon. I hope they didn't forget about it...

As for the Why did Alex bring Jay along? theories, I'll input mine. He said he needed Jay's help but maybe he doesn't trust Jay... or himself... Obviously it's okay to take Jay to Amy and Jessica's apartment so they can scope it out. Alex was obviously expecting some result of the adventure. And maybe the idea struck him to go confront the Operator himself. He wouldn't want Jay to freak out and run off again, as he's been seen to do... so he would have to lie to him. He still wants Jay's help finding Amy though..

Thaaaaank you. *thumbs up*
It would be so much more obvious if he teleported. Way too subtle and I didn't even THINK teleportation when I saw it the first time.
