Yes, I should update everyone. I have all ten constellation keys, and a total of nine test facility keys.

I just got back from the local Albertson's in Redondo Beach. No icefly gum but I did notice that someone had been scratching the plastic on some of the gum. OK, fess up - who's been at my Albertson's? Laughing

Went to Wal-Mart, Rite-Aid, Walgreens, and 3 gas stations (South Louisiana.)
No one had any. And I'm poor, (indigent, zero income, notarized statement to prove it..)
So if you have spare keys, I'd do graphics work or whatever in return. I also have a single invite left to Diaspora that's worth at least 2 codes.
*shrug, sigh*

Just updating that I found "Iceflied" Cobalt triple packs at the Walgreens at Astor Place, NYC. Every other convenience store I've been to in the last couple days only sold singles without Iceflies, so I'm now sitting on a stack of 12 Cobalt, 1 Prism, 1 Rain, and 1 React2. I'll not need to buy gum again for the next 10 years..

In about a block radius: Publix, CVS, and Walgreen's didn't have codes.

Kangaroo station did. LOTS. If you have one near you, good odds I think. Caveat: their packs are more expensive! $1.79 Razz Bought some anyway, will look elsewhere for more.

We better all hope the prize for all this (if there is one) isn't a lifetime supply of gum! Got that covered Wink

Indeed^

I bought single packs, and spent two days finding them, so I really doubt I would find some more unless the game required it... just keep searching. Don't be afraid to look weird in a store; explain it to anyone nearby.

I'm pretty annoyed at this.

I don't think an ARG should require someone to purchase a product. Or maybe I'm just annoyed that my local stores don't have any icefly gum! I've checked twice now at Safeway and nada. Tomorrow is my birthday so I'll get more time to check other stores. Hopefully I can find some icefly packs otherwise I feel like this arg will be dead to me...

Well it is an arg for gum. The idea isn't to increase sales for a movie by spreading word of mouth, but to increase the sales of a commodity. I'm actually really not surprised.

I'll just be upset if there is a lot more of this because I'm going to have enough gum to last me till next year by the time this phase is over.

I don't mind buying the gum...but the availability seems to be sparse. At least today from one of the forum posts I know what to look for. I haven't looked at the local CVS yet.

I guess since this isn't a "contest" they aren't beholden to the "no purchase necessary" laws?

Hopefully i can find some icefly packs here, otherwise it seems like I won't get further in the arg which is pretty disappointing.

Everyone starts out with 3 keys if they're smart enough to watch the genesis swf. We don't know what they're required for yet, so I'd hold off on the nitpicking. Smile

Paying to play?

I agree with the frustration about having to buy items to play an ARG; isn't one of the main functions to uncover clues by deduction? Granted it's only gum, but with some people racking up 10+ packs we're now talking somebody's wages for a couple of hours (not that I haven't spent <10x that on some ARGs in the past...) But it seems like 42E has broached a slippery slope with this one.

And is anyone else sorry to see that the best John Locke could do post-Lost is a gum ARG? I shudder to think of Hurley doing one for Hanes....

Like others have mentioned, so far this is an arg based around chewing gum (I know, we all hold out hope for some movie/game tie in...but right now it is gum). Wriggly went to the right people (42E) considering we're all going bananas for some codes. I am not offended that the goal is to sell some gum. Not only do I get a product I can use (I have a niece and nephew who will tear through gum like a wood chipper), but I get to participate in another cool game.

With that said, I am terribly frustrated with the lack of Icefly packs in my area. I have been to Walmart, 4 gas stations, 2 major grocery stores, 1 liquor store and have plans on widening the search in the upcoming week. I have bought 3 duds of the 3 packs only because I thought I had the right expiration date (obviously I didn't). I am fighting both time and the possibility that if/when I do find some coded packs...I won't even be able to read the ancient Sumerian text (poorly printed codes).

I am playing for the sake of playing, I am hoping there is a cool reward (like a limited edition Icefly hint hint), I will keep playing even if there isn't. Until then, I chew on!

Indeed. Play for the love of having fun if anything. =)

Also, Duke delivers that line way better, even if he ripped it off. =p
