 Amateur Photography Club
Ghosts, darkrooms, photography . . . it's all good!

Forgive me if this is redundant, and if there is already a thread on this. I have received two e-mails regarding this in the past couple of days, and the first one I'm afraid I initially threw out because I thought it was spam:

http://amateurphotographyclub.com/
Twitter: @AmateurPhotogs
Another URL found in the "about" section of site: http://chalkandpaper.com

There is no need to repost the e-mails as the content is all on the website and its blog so far. It appears to be a brand new project.

On the primary website, there is a series of numbers at the bottom:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
05 18 18 22 01 15 18 96

Furthermore, on the second URL above, I found this unusual chunk of coded text under its "About" subheading:

APC

IUHRRGAEHGHUMPSKHVMBLEOTTOCIROPE

ORKFAEEDTMUORYBHYPWYIAUEDTETNTNS

RHAMWYRRGIHARTACIATEIOAITAOAMOTM

POBOTEOOEEANETPOPLAPOATUELPSNTPC

AEENYNHOR

[edit - let the folks know what the spoiler is so they can decide if they want to open it or not - kona]]

I also got followed by them on Twitter and I was like pshhhh. I just got the 'assemble the photos bury the dead' email but I was literally on top of a mountain at the time. A mountain in Arizona. COINCIDENCE???

I also think it smacks of Saranna, but I guess we'll have to see.
Dear PM, if it is you, please send me to Sedona, I need an excuse.

Ok I just hopped on this wagon, signed up, got the confirmation email, and then this;

Dear APC Member,

si

When you have all the pieces, return them to me.

Sincerely,
The Webmaster

I'm guessing you've all had the same by now, so, since I'm plundering blindly in the dark here, any ideas?

Just got followed on twitter by this club. Tempted to jump in on this, but slightly hesitant to do so if it is attached to the other ARG mentioned in the first post of this thread. New to ARGs, so I'll bow to your guys' experience: worth jumping into this if it is involved with that Tarot ARG? Am I likely to get something out of this if they are related, as I know nothing about the other one? Is it worth catching up with the other one or is it too far developed by now?

EDIT:

Quote:
I received an inquiry as to whether or not this ARG is related to another ARG and I just wanted to clarify that this is a brand new ARG and in no way related to any previous or existing ARG.

Sincerely,

The PM

I would rate the likelihood of it being done by the same people as 'very high' though.

Jehosephat -- this looks like a great one to jump into as a first ARG. We now know it is not related to any prior ones, so there is no back history to worry about.

SubZero -- I got the same kind of message today, after a delay of a day. We got different letters, however, which makes me think that there is a bigger puzzle that we'll all get pieces of.

Ofiuco -- I am learning so much about Arizona these days via ARGs!

Interesting . . . As a long shot are we to assume perhaps that each of us on the members roster need to work together on this one, getting all the pieces could involve gathering everyones letters and making sense from that . .

Me too, yellowmazine, me too.

BIG EDIT: I am dumb, but next time, can you guys post that you solved that puzzle already? :D On the plus side, did you know? You can use a Railfence cipher applet to cheat on word searches.

Also, my word was 'edu'.

sent an e-mail to the APC. Interestingly enough, I got that oog email saying the ARG was unattached to other ones too... despite never actually giving them my e-mail address. Guess they must have got it off these forums...

Interesting. Well the find 10 puzzle has already been resolved on the blog in the comments to that post. It was the ten words found in the crossword and Frank confirmed it http://amateurphotographyclub.blogspot.com/2011/04/seek.html#comments , there were also exactly 10 comments ironic huh.

So I am guessing in the end we will all piece together our letters to form a word or phrase perhaps.

And doesnt anyone else find it a bit unsettling that our details are openly available on the "About" page of the website? I can clearly see everyones email addys on the members roster, minus Frank. Of course.
