TRONsformers
Really Bay?!

Okay so a group of friends dragged me to see Transformers 3 and my girlfriend spent the entire 90 minutes pointing out Tron references.

Did anyone else see them?

No, but from what I heard it was his bitch fest to anyone that didn't like the last movie and it also was sprinkled with old footage from The Island.

I didn't catch the TRON references, please enlighten me.

As for the movie, I thought it was entertaining. It's a Michael Bay film, so you can't expect anything brilliant, but it's a massive improvement over the god-awful Revenge of the Fallen.

I sluffed off the new grid shaped home planet and the spiraling plane with blue light trails as it flew straight up (escape plane with missles following) but then in blue several times in big bold letters was the lighted sign saying TRONG, STRON, & TRON depending on the exact shot. Just sayin'

To be honest, piloting the light jet straight up in order to out maneuver another pilot in TRON: Legacy reminded me of Iron Man, so that's not an entirely original idea even for TRON (Green Lantern used a similar stunt).

As for the reoccurrence of the letters T-R-O-N, it could be a coincidence or it could be an homage. Hard to say because I didn't notice it the first time around. Either way, I don't think it really qualifies as a rip-off, it's at most an homage, at least a coincidence.

not saying it's a rip. Although the flight sceen seemed so close to tron because of the blue light trail
