if it's 5... then it could be "emily" or "orein" which I did try previously and failed at.... but those two words are teh most relevant once for the cipher that I could remember at the top of my head.....

EDIT: "genus" is also possible....

Figuring the five digitals there.

I'll take a look at those as well. Thankies for bringing them up, zeighy! \(^_^)/

One more frequency pattern I had noticed after going back to previous Vigneres in the level 7 folders was that once both the passphrase and key were correct, the frequencies of the letters tended to be very close (almost always exact) to the frequencies of a complete solve regardless of whether the key and/or alphabet had been further altered. I'm not quite sure why, but hopefully, it applies to emily too.

well, if this was the cipher that emily unlocked in 24 hours of what the challenge should have been that the cipher could take a year for a human to decipher I'd certainly say it really might take us a year... hahaha,

I'd say we can feel honored if we are able to solve it.

I asked Ruby about how manually restarting the glink directory (with the Orkudusu files) would work:

Ruby wrote:
RESPONSE: To manually restart the process that created the glink directory, you will need to provide the credentials of the process owner, Genus Orein. Otherwise, using any credentials of higher security clearance, you can purge the process, edit the process, or restart the process.

So, anyone in favour of the manual restart?

EDIT: Solved or not, I think we all deserve some cardboard cake for the hours (days even?) put into the emily cipher.

*gobbles up a handfull of cake and grins sheepishly* Cake is good! What would happen if we restart /glink? I guess we could try it and see. The problem would be getting those credentials. *shoves another handful of cake in mouth*

Indeed it is! *noms on corrogation*
Good point about the credentials. I don't know where us experts fit in with the our clearance. Though, come to think of it, would there be a good reason the process was terminated, and is it a good enough reason?

Also, LAINSY update!

What are the chances of getting a really nice looking frequency on the Vigenere as a coincidence? (I honestly don't know, so I ask.)

Yes, exactly what I'm up to. Emily is in trouble, wait in fact everyone of us on Earth right now is in trouble. There's not much time to explain, Emily is currently in the hands of the Orkudusu, which is BIG trouble.

The coordinates are Sidereus Tracking System. It's different kind of system where there's actually only ONE source, but normal sensors would see five. It's usually not so obvious on first look, but Sidereus Tracking System (or shall we call it STS) can generate an unlimited number of beacon locations to conceal the real one, however, unless you know it's an STS beacon knowing what to do with it is impossible.

To find the real beacon, you need to average the first three lowest coordinates, then the answer to that needs to be averaged with the other two... Then, you'll need to add the first average to the second. Once you get the answer to that, divide it by two.. then you'll get the real coordinates of the real beacon. It's easy to find the real coordinates if you know what to do, however, creating these coordinates often takes a while. But the benefit is the ability to change all the fake beacon locations to make it look like you're moving.

What's interesting is when you have two real beacons broadcasting at the same time, it makes things much more complicated. However, in this case, there's only one, which is why we have five fake locations.

Anyways, it's weird why Pedro and 45459 is not here. I don't even quite understand what happened, but I'm quite sure that you met a future me from where ever you came from due to the way you talk to me like I know what happened and where they are.

As much as you think I should know, I don't know what happened to them.

Also, Winston is on my team. I know he should be a BOD, however, he's part of the much larger organizations that I prefer not to mention right now. We have wiped everyone on FAILTECH memories about him, of course LAINSY could probably remember him, but that wouldn't the biggest problem we have to face.

Unfortunately, time on this part of the universe is not exactly running how it should compared to the rest. Unfortunately, the DSN should be up by now, however it's not yet done on this side. We're done and waiting on the Afyg side, however, we were worried something bad has happened so they sent me back.

I'll spare you the details later. I need to go.

So, anybody have a little time for some math?

For reference.
I'm doing some work now, will give it a shot in a few hours.

Well, this is what I came up with...

15.388892, .333333333, 8.5

Everybody check me to be sure I'm correct. I remember there being a trick that has to do with the negative signs.

Since there are three coordinates this time I assume we are looking at a point in space? I guess we could feed these to lainsy and see if she can tell us where the location is. Any other ideas?

In terms of taking the negative numbers into account, I found this:

"Sidereus Tracking System Explained" wrote:
1) Average first three lowest coordinates, based on their absolute value. Answer to that will be called M.
2) Now, average M and the other two coordinates. The answer will be called N.
3) Average M and N to get the real coordinates.

I came up with (39.417, 3.917, 12.5), although my significant figures are probably off.

Okay, so I did them again several more times and I think I worked out all the bugs.

15.3888922, 1.11110778, 7.6111068

I'm still not getting the same as you, Lystella. Maybe I'm still doing it completely wrong. If I have time, I'll try to post my equations so you can see what I'm doing. Oh, and I totally disregard significant digits, because that's how I roll. I'm a mathematical rebel.

I don't trust myself with math, so here's what I did for comparison:
Code:
// Original coordinates //
56,3,23
-2,5,-9
10,-9,20
71,0,1
-34,5,10

// Absolute values from smallest to largest (I think?) //
2,5,9
10,9,20
34,5,10
71,0,1
56,3,23

// 1 //
( [2+10+34]/3, [5+9+5]/3, [9+20+10]/3 )
(15.3333, 6.3333, 13)

// 2 //
( [71+56]/2, [0+3]/2, [1+23]/2 )
(63.5, 1.5, 12)

// 3 //
(39.417, 3.917, 12.5)

Ok, finally had time to check my old emails for the guidance that genus gave me on this coordinate cipher.

Quote:
X axis is separate from Y axis... compute them separately. Also, by lowest, I mean lowest absolute value... by which you disregard whether it's a positive or negative... however when calculating, you will make sure you calculte it as positive or negative... you only need it's absolute value when checking which is of lowest value...

So try yours again, Lystella, figuring each axis seperately and see if yours matches mine. Interesting message. Sounds like maybe Genus talking to the Jhuku or someone else talking to Genus or the Jhuku.
