Welcome! Well, the agents console is probably the best place to start right now. Here is the address where you can login to the agents console...http://join.failtechnologies.com/

But first you will need to contact Inno Ellis at inno.ellisSPLATfailtechnologies.com
Just say that you are a part of the experts team and would like to become an agent.
You will need to pick your username and include it on your email and your password will be emailed to you in the reply.

EDIT: Sent mine in as well. Just so everyone knows, my name during this excercise is Jose Lichtenbach. I am a Cuban/German immigrant living in Canada. I have six toes on my right foot and have been in prison recently due to an unfortunate incident with my neighbor's goat.

Hi! FYI that I've sent back my employee forms. I'll be working as Jane Johnson, a reference librarian for UW-Eau Claire. I don't have any other character attributes made up, so I figure I'll wing it. Smile

I asked about the Cliffside inconsistencies a few days ago and never posted their response. here it is:
Quote:
Well..... the Twiiter account isn't ours... We were still on the planning stage of creating the Facebook and Twitter account... So, we haven't really seen that there already is an existing Twitter account with the same name. Also, the old website from the same URL isn't ours... Probably someone related to the Twitter account, or are actually from the same people. However, let it be known both the old website (since 2009) and the Twitter account aren't our and is completely unrelated.

On an interesting note, it's a great find of what you guys have found. Maybe we could just work around this, since as you may know that there's something within FAILTECH completely related to this Liver Regenerator... And they all still fit into our timelines and plot. What do you say?

-- FAILTECH ARG Team

P.S. I brought up this concern to the team, and as I was typing this message one told me that the old website used to be served on GoDaddy's servers by a guy named "Darin Booton" and the domain wasn't supposed to expire until later this year. (ARG skills in the works here) However, we suspect that the website could have been an illegal portal for unregulated or illegal drugs and which could have then caused the website be shutdown early (and the domain released before expiration) due to spamming and for the said pharma. Link here for the whois history: http://who.is/domain_archive-com/cliffsidelabs.com/

Inno posted some optional secondary objectives on the Mission Tasks page for those of you who have already gotten into the team (I only just sent in my form). Just thought I'd let everyone know in case they didn't already.

One of those secondary objectives is to investigate James Barron's AWOL. I asked Lainsy and here's the reply
Quote:
FAILTECH LAINSY
12:33 AM (2 hours ago)

RESPONSE: ID Tag tracking is accurate and indicates that his ID Tag is within FAILTECH Facility. However, the ID Tag could possibly be not worn by the employee and thus actual tracking of the employee may be unavailable or inaccurate.

For the past 7 days, tracking indicates that the ID Tag has moved. March 10, 2012: Alberta Facility, Level 22, Zone 2 Area B, from there it has moved to Alberta Facility, Level 19, Zone 1 Area B on March 13, 2012 and has been there up to the timestamp of this message.

If it helps your investigation, employees cannot move across different levels and zones without their ID Tag. I actively track their location using the tag and verify their identity when they show up on elevators, and secure doors.

Is there any other query you'd like to execute?

Ask LAINSY about the places that ID has been and moved to. Also, perhaps you could have LAINSY ask another employee to check the physical status of James.

I asked LAINSY for James Barron's bio:
Quote:
Employee summary: James Barron
ID Number: 405022
James Barron was hired on November 2007 and has worked under Team Kappa of the Advanced Medical Solutions Research Department. He has then been moved to Team Epsilon in June 2010 to work in the major research project being worked on by the team. He is currently a Senior Researcher. System notes that James Barron has last been seen to work on February 23, 2012.

I'm asking LAINSY for James Barron's recent logs up until his disappearance, we'll see if LAINSY comes up with anything.

I just turned in my protein report. The task says that three people need to complete their first task (apparently the same report for everyone) by the end of today. Am I the third or has no one else done this yet other than Posse and I? The task is still marked as incomplete.

EDIT: After I got the confirmation that my report had been received I checked again and the task was completed. Also, Althea sent some info on what the research is aiming to accomplish:
Quote:
Now that you have some knowledge regarding how protein and muscles work together, let me introduce what our research is about. Our current research tackles the muscles' ability to absorb protein, specifically how it absorbs protein. You see, we have developed nano-machines, which are most organic in nature, which we have designed to be able to assist and manipulate muscles. However, the current issue is that muscles no not merely absorb them, which is why our research is currently focused in try to fool the muscles that these nano machines are proteins that it needs to absorb for repair or growth. The vision of the project is that these nano-machines are an alternative way we could speed up muscle repair and growth without any side-effects. Essentially, we're making "steriods on steriods" but without any side-effects from the use of steroids or any similar chemicals/drugs. The most basic use of this is to help out people suffering from dieseses that makes them loose muscular mass.

The nano-machines are nearly of the same technology LAINSY runs on. Deep down at the molecular level, our cells in our body use small organic machines to perform operations. One of which is used to replicate DNA. Our nano-machines are inspired by these small machines, but the only thing stopping us is that our body seems to reject the nano-machines and thus we need to find a way to make our bodies absorb them. It is a very ambitious project and everyone in the team really wants to see it through. Personally, I feel like we're close to completing this project.

I just turned in mine, and got a reply fast. Althea seems to be out of the office and has sent me the same explanation about the report, duke. Quite an interesting research! haha

Aha! LAINSY retrieved some of the recent logs of James Barron:
Quote:
RESPONSE: Two log entries found for the past 30 days with his name.
Log entry number: 00000591F0, dated: February 22, 2012, Log Author: James Barron and Joseph Dillinger, Log class: Manual Entry
Log entry number: 0000058EE3, dated: February 15, 2012, Log Author: James Barron and Joseph Dillinger, Log class: Manual Entry

Note that one of our tasks was to acquire file LOG00000591F0.log? So I've got a request in to LAINSY to retrieve it. Hopefully there aren't any speedbumps in the process.

EDIT: Spoke too soon! LAINSY sent back:
Quote:
RESPONSE: Log entry 00000591F0

Date of entry: 02/22/2012

Author: James Barron and Joseph Dillinger
Summary: Protein absorbtion test failed
Full Entry: Muscular tissue is still rejecting absorbtion of the nano-machines. The live subject absorbs the protein culture we supposedly use to aid the absobtion of the nano-machines, however, muscular tissues still selectively rejects the nano-machines. Bonding modification is recommended to allow seemless absorbtion of both protein and nano-machine.
SYSTEM NOTES: Attached autogen log verification failure. Re-upload of the original autogen log file required to lock-in this log entry.

I think that system note means that the log's been messed with somehow. I'm asking LAINSY what it means.

EDIT #2: Okay here's what the "system note" means:
Quote:
RESPONSE: That is a log entry system note. It means the log entry has been manually been entered into the system, however, the verification file which has been automatically generated by relevant systems that has been used is either corrupt or has been tampered with. Until a verified autogen log file has been attached properly, the entry will still be editable by the log author. However, if the log entry is an automated log, it is automatically locked in and verified as it is automatically filed and logged by my systems and me. Manual entries, however, are a little different. Dependant on the type of log being entered, an autogen log file may be required to lock-in a log entry, however, vertain log entries no not require the autogen log file as it may not be generated at all.
So it sounds like the log entry is still open for editing, or maybe something happened to James Barron (i.e. he disappeared) so that the entry couldn't be locked in, or whatever. I'm going to attempt to post this up on the External Agents and see if this might be useful. It seems too innocuous of a file, though, so I'm not getting my hopes up.

I started thinking about how to go about the task prior to that one: Gain L2 access. My first thought was to go back to the L2 directory from E1 to try and get hints/refresh my memory on what gives an employee (or intern) L2 privileges. However, e1.failtechnologies.com/admin/l2 redirects to the current homepage placeholder, as does the same link minus the e1 subdirectory. Am I forgetting something about accessing the admin directories or is their episode preservation system screwed up? If the latter is the case, does anyone remember anything about L2 from E1? I know we had a largely different crew then, but some original players are still here (other than I).

Well, I'm still here! But I can't really remember how the levels go... I could remember that Level 7 is like the highest available for the "non-top secret" stuff, while beyond that is like the top secret stuff... I could also remember that Level 1 is like the new employee level... Or not? I can't really remember, not even the login...
