That musical sound is very distracting... and some of the morse are hardly heard...

Well, my attempts at cleaning the file up have made the beeping more prominent, however, the two beeping tracks blend together beyond recognition as a result.

Dan is hitting the sack tonight. I've promised him a translation within an hour. I want to keep that promise.

Yes! I've edited out one of the interfering frequencies! Almost cleaned up and ready to read!

I've got this thing edited so well, but my translation doesn't make sense. Grr...

Wow, you guys move so fast! I've been stalking this thread for two days, and I've hardly made any posts 'cause you guys are whipping through all this like there's no tomorrow. I feel so useless, but in a good way. XD

And this whole thing started at last sunday? or was it monday? Not sure, but yeah... It's really going so fast right now...

Any luck with the morse I can't listen to it anymore because I keep getting distracted by the tones... it feels so catchy and grabs my focus when the morse code sound gets lower...

I've got the Morse isolated. I tried not to smooth the frequency too much this time, and it looks cleaner than before. Sounds about the same, but I never did this by ear entirely.

Edit--It appears to require a Caesarian shift of 12. No key. It should be a URL. This is what I got (only the first part makes sense, it seems to suggest www.reboot--)

http://www.mediafire.com/?47fs1cb3u8d52nt

What I got (use the second part, it's repeated like the first signal):
Code:
.. .. .. ...- -.. --- -. .- .- .- .- ..-. -.-. .... . - - .-.. -. --. --- -... --. --. -..- .-. -.-- ..- .. .- ... .-- -- ... -.. -.-. --. -.. -.- .. -.-. ..- -.- ..- -.-- -... .-- . -- .--- -- --.. -.-. -. .--- . -.-. .--. .-- -..- ...- -..-

get sleep my friend, however, the file you uploaded was.. incomplete. You can just re-upload that tomorrow.

this seems like a hard one. PMs got to be making it real hard to move from L6 to L7 since L7 is where all crazy stuff's got to be. I'll look over this before I head over to sleep, too.

I'm kind of useless with ciphers and whatnot, but is there any chance the code from the audio is in the dial tones, instead of/in addition to the morse? for some reason i don't feel like it was put there just to confuse us. I don't know how one would go about decoding that though.

ETA: the file is 'L6dtfm' and dtmf is the term for the dialing signals on an analog phone.... I'm not sure if that's a clue to what we're supposed to look at, or a red herring, though.

Well the DTMF inside the file decodes to

Code:
1111226361204141711661011AAA1001112021120201120036111310202102202512211111121111113312271711

(using this site http://www.dialabc.com/sound/detect/index.html)

However i'm not sure if it recognizes all the tones correctly as there is a lot of background noise in the file.

The numbers above might be a phonepad cipher, seeing as there are many numbers being repeated. (Numbers 1 and 0 dont give any letters though and the AAA is also kind of suspicious... though that may also have been some wrongly recognized number)

Any new ideas? I have considered whether the telephone codes are playing some kind of tune, perhaps a nursery rhyme to tie into the previous codes?

Also, level 7 is still inaccessible - should we be focusing on the FTP server?

Great Scott!! No doubt that we are all in so many different time zones that we keep this thing going at all hours. I'm going to have a look at the morse again and see if there is anything that we may have missed in the other files. Maybe Genus has left us a message back there somewhere since we moved on. Has anybody contacted Daniel since we found the mp3?

Ask Punxtr how he separated out the Morse code. If the phone beeps are important, maybe he can coax those out, too.

Remember, Dan said that the login prompts on levels 7 and up have been disabled. I agree that we need to focus on a) the FTP server, and, if that's really what it is, b) whatever URL the Morse code points to.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the ftp address we're looking at the ftp for the site itself? Should we be looking for another URL? Maybe the URL we're currently trying to decipher?

I think you are right Minz. I don't think that the converter read it correctly. The morse is somewhere around 500 hz and the tones are around 1000 hz. Anybody got some good equipment available to narrow it down a little more and isolate the dialtones? It looks a lot like octal like before, but doesn't work out correctly. I'm still working on the morse.
