I took some time this afternoon, booted up sonic visualizer and transcribed the DTMF tones manually.
The most striking property of the tones was that they were grouped in triplets and seemed to be in the 100-200 range. As we have already seen those in the code for level 5 i put them into an octal decoder :

Code:
111 111 111 126 104 117 116 101 101 101 101 106 103 110 105 124 111 114 116 107 117 102 107 107 130 122 131 125 111 101 123 127 115 123 104 103 107 104 113 111 103 115 113 125 131 102 127 105 115 112 115 132 103 116 112 105 103 120 127 130 126 130

And it gave me :
Code:
IIIVDONAAAAFCHETILNGOBGGXRYUIASWMSDCGDKICMKUYBWEMJMZCNJECPWXVX

Which is practically the same string punxtr had before.

As it seems the string is encryted in some way, we may need to focus our efforts on breaking that.
Maybe keyed Caesar Ciphers or some other substitution cipher can be applied to decypher this..

Wow. Great job Minz. Exactly what I was thinking. There are only two letters different between yours and punxtr's. But why would the same message be sent twice?

Dial tone, morse frequency. Sorry, my file must not have saved properly. Since you got near the same thing as me, we need to find a Caesaer key, or something.

There is also this theory. We decode the dial tones but only at the morse frequency, around 1000 Hz

New tweet. looks like we don't get to hear from the CEO, after all:

I've emailed Dan about it. Dude was breaking down last night, worried over his friend.

Hey Godder,
What were the two letters that were different between the two signals?
(I'm out of key-less encryption methods to try, so I'm just looking for any possible clue here)

Just to be certain, I tried using the whole string as the FTP password.
It didn't work.

Information overload. We now know the basics to each of the 58 levels of the Antarctica site:

Quote:
Hello, just got back up and my staff briefed me with the updates on what they managed to do while I dozed off. So far from here all is good. They managed to get through the life support systems and trigger the emergency communications. No word about Genus, yet, but the people inside the facility are ok. However, all of them are locked out inside the living quarters at the lower levels of the facility.

The facility has 58 levels and levels 1 and 2 are transportation storage (we have choopers and other vehicles in there) level 3 is a buffer space level (pretty much empty) for level 4 which is the Explosives Testings Bay. level 5 another buffer space level and then levels 6 to 15 are Class 5 research and development. levels 16 to 22 are Class 4 R&D. levels 23 to 30 Class 3 R&D and levels 31 to 39 are Manufacturing and Materials Processing. levels 40 to 45 are Class 2 R&D, and 46 to 50 are Class 1 R&D. level 51 is then a buffer space level, while level 52 and 53 are offices. We have the living quarters as completely separated from the facility underground, however the only access points are at level 52 and 53. We have the living quarters separated so that in event that anything happen in the facility, employees can stay there and be safe. It is completely self contained and can independently operate. However some functions still rely that it to be connected to the facility and to LAINSY, but most (and all required life support) functions are built right in.

Level 54 is a buffer space level, and levels 55 and 56 are safe locks secure containment and storage. level 57 another buffer space and level 58 is LAINSY's mainframe systems. It's way down there. Below her is the self-contain power generation and other systems that keep the entire facility self-contained requiring nearly no help from the outside world.

I hope those information help you understand the facility more. The employees inside are at the living quarters however they reported that in Saturday night, a 1S2L (1 short and 2 long) buzz was triggered at levels 52 and 53. Everyone was at the living quarters (it's the weekends, they don't like working at weekends) and were safely contained by LAINSY to prevent and contact. They also report that LAINSY safely contained the problem at levels 50 to 54. So those levels right now are locked out. And then Sunday morning came and then they report a "continuous long buzz" however, they did not hear any alert messages or instructions. They say it stopped buzzing at around Sunday night and from there they haven't heard anything about what's happening outside their living quarters and they are still locked out.

My technicians and engineers are working on a way to get in so it shouldn't take long.

Regarding your success in the morse code, I'll have some of my staff take a look in it. Most of them aren't as busy as a few hours ago so they can go and take a look. Some of the programmers that I requested (and don't need anymore) are arriving in a few moments, so maybe they know something about these encryption. I'll make them work on it so that their trip here wouldn't be such a waste.

Also, I wasn't at Fred's presscon, and I don't know what he had a presscon about. Maybe he had it to keep the news getting out and brief the media about the situation? Not sure, I'm still to hear about that. They say the presscon was at Chicago and right now, I'm at the Antarctic and I was only made aware about it when it was done.

Update me when you have something, or I'll update you when anything comes up.

A very informative email!

Has anyone asked him about the FTP server yet? (I'd rather not be redundant and waste his time) If not, then I'm going to send him an email seeing if any of his crew have a valid FTP login. I'll tell him that staff logins don't seem to be blocked there (it will accept genusorien, we just need a password), and that it might shed some light on the origins of what's going on here.

Good call Duke. So there was a biohazard alarm in the offices sector and then a high alert level alarm that should have been followed by instructions, messages, or directions. Interesting.

Ok, email sent.

EDIT: Reply:
Quote:
We tried what you say is an ftp server at our website while connected from an external network (not on the FAILTECH Network) and it does give a login prompt. However, by the nature of the security design, the website and secure file storage areas of FAILTECH are only accessible if accessed within the FAILTECH Network. However, because of the issue we are experiencing right now, the file storage is inaccessible in the FAILTECH Network.

We will look onto that once we resolve this one.

So it looks like our priority for the time being is, in fact, that stupid string of letters. Let's hope his programmers are smarter than we are.

Yes. It seems this problem is far worse than expected I have had my staff contact my facility design team to help me out if ever I missed something about the facility that I should know which could help in getting us inside the facility. I feel like I am missing something here that I should know.

If I or the employees inside the facility got it right, the biohazard contamination is contained at levels 50 to 54 so access to the levels below that would be impossible until the biohazard has been cleared. Whoever did this had a very good knowledge of the facility and has planned this well.

Maybe we're missing something here as well? I don't think the PMs will give something this hard without even having any clues about it... I'll check the other security levels to see if there's something relating to this might help.... As far as I can tell, the PMs has not provided anything that is completely useless.
