"La Serena"

This seems to be making the rounds. I don't know the source of it, so someone please chime in officially as to where this actually came from.

I'm hesitant about it because it screams of dubious 4chan sources, but you never know with this game...

Can someone out there confirm the authenticity of this?

Greetings Mr. Dubrovin,

I want you to know that we support your ...efforts to hunt down and kill
these menaces. We thought the following phished e-mail received by old
junko.jSPLATmail.ru account might interest you.

Always,

The Internet Hate Machine

Sisters of Origin,

In OS room of Martinstown @ Curragh:

LA SERENA

Oh Czarina

Chic Bomb!

LAIBACH

Reeking Joy

Unbekannte?

"Martinstown @ Curragh" seems to refer to a bed and breakfast in Ireland.

"La Serena" ("The Serene", feminine tense) is a city in Chile, a town in Colombia and a historical territory in Spain. It's also the name of William Jennings Bryan home in Coconut Grove (Miami), Florida.

"Oh Czarina": Beats me, but "czarina" is the wife of a Russian czar.

"Chic Bomb": Beats me.

"Laibach": A Slovenian avant-garde music group, strongly associated with industrial, martial, and neo-classical musical styles. Also the German name for Slovenia's capital city, Ljubljana.

"Reeking Joy": Beats me.

"Unbekannte": They tell me it's German for "stranger"?

Wasn't this confirmed as valid in the SL thread by AAT? Maybe I misread what he wrote.

Thanks, Steve-O! BTW, the strange phrases in the email lead me to think there are some anagrams.

I initiallity had the same thought, but I've tried anagramming everything (even combinations of words/phrases) and I have nothing.

It's 100% valid. I know, seems fishy, but it's valid.

By the colon in the first line, it almost seems like the rest of the list is something contained within the room at the bed and breakfast.

What would "OS" be? Maybe the inn needs more investigating.

We have anyone in Ireland? Smile

It looks like there are only 4 guest rooms at Martinstown House, each "individually designed" but not individually named as far as I can tell. There's also a common morning room, common drawing room, common dining room, common kitchen, garden, a farm, and an adopted pet donkey named Clancy. Nothing that really could be easily abbreviated to OS.

http://martinstownhouse.com/the-living-house/

Maybe OS refers to the characteristics of the room rather than its name or function?

edit: OS = OutSide? there's an outdoor icehouse.

Hey guys.

First weekend of the semester. I finally have time to check in and see what everyone's been up to. Somehow I managed to miss whole "Do we have anyone in New York" thing. Embarassed

Anyway, I'm hoping I can contribute something now. Following Nighthawk's lead, I've been googling the terms in that strange email. For a while, i wasn't turning up anything new, but when I googled Martinstown Curragh and flipped through all of the travel sites, I found a strange newspaper article. It doesn't quite seem real - but I checked out the site, it's a legit British paper.
What do you think?
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1538969/Ireland-welcomed-Hitlers-henchmen.html

It sounds straight out of Inglorious Basterds. It's about a crazy Nazi soldier, who --- wait for it ---
Quote:
escaped from prison, fleeing to Spain before buying a farm Martinstown House, near the Curragh, where he lived for a decade.

I'm not sure
a) if this is for real
b) if this has anything to do with anything

I guess this is what you get when you google two random sounding Irish place names.

If it's real, it's almost unbelievable. What kind of Nazi would buy a house in Ireland AFTER the War? Was real estate in London too pricey? It's like Osama bin Laden looking for a penthouse near Wall St. I guess the whole blitz and everything were just a part of a vast real estate scheme.

Does this page seem legit to you?

I'm mainly lurking because I'm enjoying the "What PMs do badly/What players do badly" stuff. But, here's one that perhaps wikipedia doesn't have.

In some spanish-speaking countries, "La Serena" is a euphemism for a prostitute. As I'm just lurking the META stuff, I'm not sure if it relates to the game or not, but to me, it might explain the first part of the e-mail:

Subject: La Serena (aka the prostitute)
Then the e-mail talks about "efforts to hunt down and kill these menaces"

Just a thought.

Sooo, sirens? That's also water connected. Don't get drowned by listening to their songs, then...

On Dubai site, Rhea is referred as courtisane. Perhaps she is the Sirene?

Also, guys, could you briefly relate to me where from did this email actually come? Don't have so much time to catch up with all news.
