Where does that take place in the movie? Do you have a rough idea so i can pull it up and take a look?

Yeah, back at that time, it was just Oren Peli doing an indie film, but I'd like to think they'll be careful enough to not override things. We'll just have to see, but I'm going to still go with my theory on the image now. Who knows? Maybe they'll take the prequel/sequel route, and it's Katie herself sitting in a mental home after being picked up? You never know... I do hope they release more clues soon though, I love this ARG

It's right after Micah goes in the attic and Katie is on the bed talking on the phone to someone about the picture. I've always assumed it was her parents she was talking to. I think your theory is solid. And they do need to release more clues soon... I am an Lost fan and I remember all the viral stuff they did with that and it was maddening waiting for stuff to be released.

I just got done playing through it, and never saw it :\
I watched from when they find the footprints, to Micah going up the attic. I stopped on the next night. The only time I saw Katie with the phone is when she was calling Dr. Avery, then explains she's calling Dr. Fredrick.

There was a scene where she was on the bed holding the picture, but I didn't see a phone, or ever hear anything about dad. I'll have to take a better look, as I started from the foot prints, and stopped right at the next night. I'm watching the theatrical version, if that might possibly make any difference?

The scene with her on the phone with her father was cut from the theatrical version. Maybe they did that on purpose? So I guess we're supposed to just pretend like she never called her father?

This is NOT in the theatrical cut. So good eye, again. But chances are, we're supposed to follow what's in theater, so they could potentially make anything happen to her dad.

 		Where can you pick up the original version of PA1??

Also, does anyone think its possible that it could be Kristie's daughter that's in the picture that looks like someone standing in a mental institute? I've always thought that they could go somewhere with the daughter being haunted by the demon in a mental ward. Obviously anyone who comes home to find their family killed and her baby brother missing would go through a tough period. Just a thought though

Unless they had a DVD with the festival version, chances are you're going to have to find it through an illegal channel.

You do prove a great point. I think that if you walked in and saw your baby brother missing, and dad and step mom killed, and I'm assuming she watched the footage... Damn. Another good thing to note into the conspiracy Smile

It's possible she (Kristie's daughter) is the one who went looking for these old videos. Maybe she took them to Darren, who put the one clip on his site.

I actually think this is very plausible....Ali was the one who dug up the curse theory, so it makes sense she would continue to dig for the truth..............

I have two problems with that:
1)How can you tell that isn't just their house? I mean, you can't really tell what's happening in that picture at all.
2)Why backmask and lower the pitch on something as entirely random and completely unrelated to the story as a trip to grandma's house?

Besides, that image is what we're talking about in the first place, that that image might be from the mental hospital they were sent to during all this, a theory that is a) actually interesting and b) has something to do with the story.

I gotta ask, did you even read the previous couple of posts? You gotta play the game, you can't just guess.


I actually went back and watched the previous two movies recently, and in two, Katie mentions to Kristi she doesn't want to see "what happened to mom" happen to Kristi.

I wonder if their mom gets messed up by the demon and put in an asylum of some sort, or something similar? That's what the image strikes me as just looking at it, and then thinking about the conversation in two, makes me think it's their mother sitting there.

Then you have the phone conversation. My girlfriend and I think they're saying "tell mom we love her". Could it be dad is calling home to check on the girls why he's out for a visit to their mother in the mental home, or whatever it could be? Hrm.

I've thought that since the beginning. They started the site for some reason. They need to have an "excuse" as to why a set of VHS tapes are making it to the theater so to say. I strongly believe he'll be a character, if only for a cameo.

One of the videos, (I'm not sure which one) shows here hugging the girls at one point. Isn't she sitting at the table with Kristi in the trailer for a brief second that's shown? I mean, sure, I get a weird vibe from her mom (her dad seems like a cool guy, actually, and I'll be upset to see anything happen to him already), but I can't quite say she seems distant. Then again, we've seen her on camera two-three times so far in total, so that's still open as a possibility.

I'm wondering if the demon might "hop" between the women in the blood line.

Is it just me, or is Kristi (the younger child) the more creepy one this take around? I think they're definitely trying to play on that. That's what seems to hint to me that the demon taps in to perhaps both of them (maybe even the mother as well) through out the film. Hence.... they have very little memory of their childhood. They can remember the spooky stuff, like a shadow standing over Katie's bed... but in PA2, they make it quite clear that they don't remember much.

Doesn't Martine mention that Kristi won't have any memory of being possessed before they do the transfer to Katie? I also strongly believe that the night Katie got out of bed in PA1, and Micah found her outside, that she was possessed, if only for a short period. Hence why she had no memory of getting up.

Just some more for me to throw out there.

 		The demon definitely came from their mom's side. That was the big deal with 2, Kristie had the first baby boy in generations.

 		I wish we'd hear back from Darren soon. This seems like a long time to wait. Thank goodness we have all these trailers to go through!

The cut scene with the father really has me curious. Cut for time? Cut for new story ideas? Hmmm...

 		Another thing to point out is the fact that the VHS tapes even survived. If the house we are seeing in the trailer is the one that ultimately burned down, how could these tapes have survived? They say in the two movies that they lost everything in the fire, including the picture of Katie that apparently managed to survive. If it does turn out that the tapes were thought to have perished along with everything else in the fire, and Ali (or whoever) finds them... Does that mean the demon wanted her to find them? And if so, why did it save these tapes and presumably that picture?
