Skinny Bob grey alien vids?
What does the ARG community think about it?

Since I am both a believer in intelligent life beyond earth (which really isn't as far fetched as people make it out to be) as well as a fan of ARGs, I just thought I'd ask the community what you thought of these vids of "Skinny Bob" and others, the codename for a supposed grey alien that was secretly recorded by the Soviet KGB.

My question is, if it's a hoax, what is a hoax this good doing on youtube? Viral vid perhaps? You guys know alot about that, right?

Without looking at this particular video, I can answer your question. Many times a person who has film production skills just wants to show off, maybe as a way to get future employment, or simply as a hobby. There is no such thing as "too good for YouTube" as you put it, because even professional special effects teams put their demo reels online, and corporating marketing campaigns use YouTube all the time, hoping their message will go viral.

In any case, if the video has no "call to action" or a way to follow up, then it just sits there and waits for people to buzz about it. I've frequently seen people here turn a simple "weird video" into a game which was never its intent. The internet is filled with a lot of weirdness -- and a lot of fiction.

ok, now that i've looked at this particular link, i see it was the first of 8 videos uploaded by this person, and the rest of them appear to be pieces from an old tv show.

Thanks for your response. Just wanted to say that that is not the original poster of those videos. The original poster is ivan0135 and was first uploaded by him on may 1st. It's been kind of a youtube sensation so a gazillion people have reposted it, like u said, but still no word about where it's actually from (unless you believe the KGB emblem on the beginning of the film).

I just thought it was interesting because if it IS a hoax, it is the best quality I have ever seen... and this is coming from a person who thought the movie Avatar looked fake as hell. Wink
