I think I have explanations for these. In no particular order: Weather, people need water to live, planet's full of it. Razz

Which would make it all the more interesting if The Operator drains water from his victims to dry out and shrivel up. Which could explain why It doesn't like water (helping his victims) and also why Tim (and possibly Brian by the looks of his closet) seem to be hogging the water in the house. All the more interesting is the fact that the plumbing wasn't running when Jay arrived in the bathroom.

This may be why TTA is obsessed with water. The Operator's (speculated) draining process may have had an effect on TTA's shattered Psyche and created a reverse-Rabies effect (instead of fearing water, obsessing over it.)

Interesting...

What if it's something almost poetic: the Operator was born by fire (the forest fire, maybe he was the criminal that burned on the tree or WAS one of the trees) and the only way to be defeated is by fire's natural enemy: water.

oh man! I love the idea of him being some enraged tree spirit, though i think it is unlikeley, it would explain his slow movements, and the fact that he likes hanging around in forrests.

It's raining in Entry #34, when the shack is empty. Then it's nice out in Entry #35, when the shack isn't empty.

There was a discarded water bottle at the bottom of the red tower in Entry #21. (Around 2:30.)

After J wakes up in Entry #27, one of the first things he finds after leaving the hotel is a water bottle that was left in his car. (Around 3:55.)

It starts to rain during Entry #31, which is in Rosswood Park but contains no distortion whatsoever.

Numerous TTA videos from the first season reference water, though I can't be arsed thinking of which specifically.

Brian's excellent taste in art from Entry #20 is a painting of a fire. Brian is also probably the first to disappear during the original Marble Hornets film production. Possible connection?

Nice observation on the painting! looking back, there are SO many clues about the connection of fire and water. a lot of people noticed tta's videos had water in them, but it seems it's even more important than that, it's just more sublte in jay's videos.

it's interesting to note that the operator isn't in #34 or #35, but Tim is, I think it is obvious at this point that he is either being controlled by The Operator or working with him willingly. if the former it would make sense his controller wouldn't be active in the rain, if the later perhaps he has developed some sort of hydrophobia.

I'm pretty sure, in that interview available for viewing pleasure on Youtube, that Troy or Joseph flat out admit the Operator doesn't like water. It's so blatant, I think they regretted ever mentioning it. I will have to check of course.

I would just like to tell everyone I remembered this wrong. They say he loves fire, and so I must have assumed he hated water.

Again: birth by fire and death by water.

It sounds like something a college film student would come up with, which makes it perfect for this theory.

Good catch on the fire portion of the connection. When watching the news vid of Jay's apartment fire it does appear that the news camera has some tearing at 1:10 which implies Slendy was there.

But there also tends to be distortion with Masky when he teleports. I personally think it was Team Masky/TTA who burned the house down, since they are more physical in their motives with Jay. Slendy, on the other hands, is more mental abusive.

wether or not slendy was the one to actualy start the fire, he was probably there during the news report (which i point out in my op) masky's distortion doesn't really include tearing, thats a 0 thing (yea i'm totally sticking with that). also I can't think of an instance where distortion occured because of masky while he was off camera. Since a masky is Tim, it should follow that the other's are regular humans, and any distortion they cause is probably indirectly because of 0.

But why would Slendy want to burn Jay's house down? I think TTA/Team Masky have more of a reason; they want to keep Jay moving and finding answers. Also, we see similar tearing in the entry 23 (around 0:51) before we see masky, and as far as I can tell slendy isn't in the house. He is in the Basement of DOOM.

Again, all we've seen slendy do so far is rape people's minds and possibly control them to do his bidding. It doesn't make much sense for the fire to be caused by slendy

EDIT: Also, saying that ANY distortion is beacause of slendy, are you implying that Masky is working with slendy?

fire

It crosses my mind that the Creepy Basement of Doom was all concrete with metal fixtures and lots of dirt and debris. Could there have been a fire there at one point? If the structure was mostly concrete and metal, it would have been shelled with lots of debris but still standing. Or maybe it was destroyed for inhabitation, but after the fire was gone, and stuff dragged out, that was what was left. Even less dangerous that way, less likely for structural damage.

I also originally thought that maybe TTA/Maskies took advantage of Jay deciding to head to a hotel that first time and tried to trap The Operator and burn the place down, but after reading the last two pages I don't think I buy that anymore. Maybe if TTA/Maskies were trying to stop The Operator and didn't know how, but that's the only way I can see that working.

Actually, though the creepy basement was dry in Entry #22, weren't there all sorts of dripping sounds in Entry #23 when J goes there? Yet he -does- encounter the Big O. Hmm.

Okay, the water bottle things are silly. People need water to live! Why is it so weird that people drink water when their thirsty, especially since pop labels appearing could be legal trouble. But the rest of the theory does sound viable. But I'm pretty sure there has to be a large body of water, because slenderman running away from jay with a squirt gun would just be sad.

Wher are people getting the idea that water hurts The Operator? If anything, it seems like TTA wants to escape water.

Remember, Noah's Ark wasn't a submarine. It was built to avoid the water.

I don't know why, but I found myself laughing way to hard at that.
