How many of you have seen the game "The Walking Dead"? If you have, you will know that it is a story driven, chapter based journey that tailors itself to the player. Your actions affect the entire game. This is how i think this slender series to go.

It wouldn't be about any series in particular, because theres no way to tailor the game to you if you have to worry about whats cannon and whats not.

Characters and proxies can be based off of MH, TT, EMH, etc. but not them specifically.

Hints can be turned on and off(like in the walking dead)

There will have to be some kind of "only the camera can remember" setup, so say... you complete a mission, fade to black, you wake up say... 8 hours later and you have to piece together what you can from fragments of non distorted footage, which puts in motion another mission/side quest you can choose to complete.

Yeah, ideas, it would be fun to try to make this game Very Happy

I love point and clicks. I'm kind of actually really interested in this since it doesn't seem like it'd be as hard to make a point and click compared to other games. I might have to check out how to make them.

Umm, I'm taking a game creation, and Video game grphics class at my high school next year. If you have any ideas, send them my way, I can try to make this reality.

I mean I've taken web dev, c++, and programming/logic classes so I think I have a better shot at it (no offense) because i'm pretty sure it can be coded in HTML if it's 8-bit (since i'm no artist it'd have to be)

plus, this site will teach you more than any high school class can offer: http://youcanmakevideogames.com/

I didn't read the whole thread. Has anyone made the obligatory dating sim joke yet?

Wait... pravado you think you can make a point and click game with multiple possible endings and pathways with html? I think you need to retake those classes, and actually look at the site you linked...

Back on topic a simple point and click would probably be a good choice for your high school class brdardin. Likely cover all of your bases for the class final project as well. Just don't over complicate it as your first game. Making multiple story's and outcomes will take a lot of time. In a game like this you would have to create a film for every possible line of events.

I'd try to stick to 3 paths, "succesful" "neutral" "negative". I'm going to go with marble hornets as an example. Like you go to da house. You find nothing, you walk in walk out and move on with your life. You don't discover the pills, which in this story are a magic cure for slendy sickness. a few chapters later you keel over coughing while being chased by slendy. You didn't solve the mystery of the pills so he gets you, which would be the negative. Had you discovered the pills you get away from him, but nothing good happens otherwise, which would be neutral. If you had also discovered a paper with a hint on it, you'd have noticed something while running away from slendy giving you extra hints for the next event, which would be succesful.

Hell no, that's Java as far as I can see.

EDIT: It's actually JavaScript, on closer inspection, but it's definitely not HTML.

EDIT2: And if you want it even less in depth than that game, I'm wondering if you want any content at all. In Onslaught you play basically the same level every time, using basically the same weapon (with a few different variables for damage, reload, width, etc.), fighting basically the same enemies (save for some extra hp, speed, or maybe a different move pattern). In fact, I think I could knock out the same game (except for the graphics) in about one or two afternoons, depending on how interested I am.

You would have a hard time doing it just using HTML, but browser-based is totally possible, especially with PHP and/or Javascript. Give it a shot.

Sure. I'm busy the next few days, but I'm looking into it. Graphics will literaly be white geometric shapes on a black background and there'll probably be two different enemies and three levels, since that's all I can be bothered with, but it'll basically be the same thing.
