How about, like some games based off of movies and shows I've seen, you're some fictional character that maybe knew Jay and Alex (Maybe an extra on Marble Hornets?). And it could take place in that span of time between seasons 1 and 2. So basically, you're in the original town of MH, but Jay and Alex are already gone, and you're gonna try to find out why they left.

For some reason you can't see Jay's entries on youtube (some unknown technical difficulties?). The story begins with you getting a package on your doorstep containing a tape with entry 1 on it. Written on the tape is something like "DEFENDTHIST, otheark" (For those to lazy to decipher, it's FINDTHEREST all scrambled up.) and that could be the first "Decoding" minigame.

Also, the Operator should be somewhat like a dementor, you know, from Harry Potter, and by that I just mean you should be able to repel him, but you can never actually kill him. Although, the repelling should also have a downside, like the more you use the repelling device/ability, the more likely it is that he will show up in your house, and when he has been in or near your house, your mental stability begins to plummet and the repel ability has less effect on him when your mental stability is low.

Those games are never any good, though, because you have to take scissors to the established canon in order to fit some random new player character in there.

Hey guys, I've been thinking, and how about we relocate all of the HUD elements (sanity/sickness meters, number of tapes left, etc.) to the camera screen? Then there would be a button to bring the camera screen up to the player's line of sight (like OffsetServbot said) so that we could not only check the meters but also see distortions in real time.
What do you think about it?

It's unfortunate that we'd have to wait until the series is over to create this game if we were going to. Still too many questions left unanswered, like who totheark is, the non-Tim masked folks, what the hell the Operator symbol ACTUALLY DOES, etc.

This is starting to remind me of Eternal Darkness, which I actually finished, but man I loved that game. I still get it out from time to time to screw with unknowing friends.

Actually, I have a friend who I introduced to the game. It pulled the "I ACCIDENTALLY YOUR WHOLE MEMORY CARD" gag on him and he almost died.

As as the style of the gameplay goes, I definitely like the FPS style, though I think the camera should be "held" down and to the right (so that most of the camera itself is actually off-screen, but the camera's screen is visible), and of course the "aim" to bring it up to zoom on the screen.

As far as any HUD elements, it seems we have a few "vital stats" going on:

Physical Health (I added this because it's important: Timasky at least DOES have a violent streak.)
Mental Health, "Sanity" (Affects some of the things you see, and also affects the Operator's actions, see below. At 0% sanity, you black out, and wake up elsewhere.)
Sickness (This builds up, rather than ticking down like sanity and HP. At higher levels, it actually drains HP and sanity slowly. This, too, can affect the Operator's actions)

Camera Stats: If either batteries or tapes run out, your camera turns off. While your camera is off, you can't detect the Operator or Maskies, and you can't recall anything that happens. Certain plot elements will utilize this: for instance, the entry in which Jay encounters Masky for the first time--he couldn't remember anything after his camera stopped recording. In addition, your Sanity will drop while you have no camera running, and you black out at 0% Sanity.)

Battery Level (if your battery runs out, your camera turns off.)
Current Tape Min Remaining/Extra Tapes (If you run out of tapes, you turn your camera off, since you can't record anything)

I mentioned earlier that--aside from plot-point related encounters--your Sanity and Sickness levels can affect TO's actions towards you. At high levels of insanity, TO will try to possess you (ala Alex in Entry... 43, right?), and at dangerously high levels of Sickness, he goes in for the kill (asofyet-absent tentacles and all.)

Thoughts?

Well, that wouldn't work so well, because the player would be able to remember that stuff just fine. You need to go off of what the player can experience.

Also, we still don't know for sure that The Operator possesses anyone.

Personally, I think this would work better just as a Slenderman Game, using elements from MH (such as the camera and Circle thing) and other Slenderman stories.

This would be far, far better than if we based it solely on Marble Hornets, as it would allow for greater artistic freedom.

Plus...we already would know the story, if we based it on Marble Hornets. Why the hell would we want to play through something if we already know what happens?

We can also add another thing to the list of what happens when Slenderman appears: Hallucinations. The player begins seeing/hearing things that aren't there, and the only way to see what's real and what isn't is to use the camera. The hallucinations themselves can be throwbacks to the original mythos, relating to children. (Hearing laughter, seeing children trying to get you to chase them down some dark hallway, etc.)

Why do you want to watch the Harry Potter movies if you've already read the books? You already know what happens.

I don't think I explained it well enough: why should we just base it on Marble Hornets? I'm sorry but while Marble Hornets works as a series...to take the plot and slap it on a game would be a horrible, HORRIBLE idea. There's no replayability, the plot itself was designed to follow a very small set of characters. It's one of the main reasons why game-adaptations of movies fail so often: they take a plot that wasn't designed for gaming and stick with it, rather than trying to make their own story in the universe. You can only make the plot work by making it very, VERY linear.

Now, an open-world game? THAT would be fun. THAT would be scary. Instead of going through a plot, your goal is to just evade the Slenderman as much as possible. The game ends when he gets you/kills you/whatever he does to his victims.

There'd be characters, maybe we can put the MH cast in there somewhere. They'd give you hints and possibly help you. The system itself would have to be unique, as to never have you "play the same game twice." The system would have to work so that you'd form your own story.

There's so much potential in a Slenderman video game, we shouldn't be limiting ourselves to just Marble Hornets.

^I mentioned on the previous page that there could be three main "chapters" where you play through MH, EMH and TT, followed by a big mode that combines a lot of different Slender Man stories, plus new ones made for the game.

^I'd be happy to portray the protagonist of my slenderblog.
And what about a secret mode where you play as Slender Man?

@Randoman:

Yeah, something like that could work. It gives people a chance to play through established stories and then branch off into their own. Perhaps it could work as a series of "flashback" sequences? With the player researching all of these (in which we would go through a sequence in which we controlled the various characters of these series), and then through all of this the player somehow becomes Slenderman's next victim?

This all seems so brilliant...If anyone is serious about pursuing this idea, I'm actually a voice actor for all sorts of Flash animations on the internet (have been for about four years now), I'd be way more than willing to record lines for misc. background characters, vocal effects, etc.

I would love to provide voice acting. Especially if my character is in it.
