I think that, with the new blog post, Slender man harvests little children, and uses them as fuel for the door. I think that when the door is used, if kills a pair. Accounting for the dead children.

That's hardly practical. If it takes two children to fuel a use of the door, what would be the point of bringing one child to the forest? Either he's using up children faster than he's collecting them, or he's finding a way to collect children without using the door, which would imply that he doesn't need it to travel... so I don't see the point. Unless this is just some small facet of a much larger scheme, where Slendy's collecting children to fuel the door for someone else's use... but he doesn't seem the faithful pet to me... :/

No, I get the feeling that if there is a connection between these events, it's not quite so directly cause and effect. Maybe Slendy left them there as a warning... Left the open-sided hourglass there to let them know that their using the door is why he killed these two. Not because they needed to die, but because Jack and Serah needed to know that they're not allowed.

[This was originally an edit; moved for convenience's sake. Sorry if that's uncouth.]

Oh shit, it knows. Is this a Battle Royale?! Each pair is in competition, and when one solves a challenge, a losing pair dies? Or had Brandon and Emily gone through earlier, tried to get out (loosening the doorknob in the process), and died in there, with their bodies spit out when the door was next opened? Fuck. High stakes.

*deep breath* I guess the hourglass symbol is DYLT's (X)...

Perhaps it's Slendy's retaliation for them using the door. "Use this door, I kill your friends."

I know what you mean. My stomach dropped. Wish I didn't feel some of that responsibility myself.

The more I think about that fucking tableaux... and Jack's codes getting through, the creature surrendering the blog, running and hiding in the forest... it all feels like a twisted game. Remember when J&S saw the creature and it didn't see them, and someone suggested it was just pretending not to notice?

Whether it's the creature vs. the kids, or the kids vs. each other with the creature acting as arbiter/audience, I don't know. But I'm getting the feeling things are going to get much more awful. I hope I'm wrong.

Your idea gave me an idea, in that this is the doors way of GPS. Perhaps the door sends you to places based on the fauna that is present in the picture. Like redwoods to California.

This reminds me of how the D'ni wrote descriptive books to link to the best fit age. The link established is not specific to time or space, either.
is that good?

Punxtr, great call on figuring out why SlenderJack wanted tree pics, especially certain kinds of trees. I'm glad I sent him a picture of a tree from where I USED to live rather than my current backyard Wink

On a different note, I've been google-searching for information about Aokigahara. I remembered a mysterious monk being mentioned in the video about Aokigahara posted a while back. A few websites mention a monk as the first recorded suicide in the forest. It apparently took place in a cave…making me wonder if there was a connection to our protagonist hiding in a cave/recently finding dead bodies there. Here is a link to one of the websites I came across. Hopefully I don't totally scew up posting a link... /n00b

Jack can contact the rest of the group, right? I assume they all have phones like he does? I wonder what would happen if they got everyone together and opened the door so that they were all together, nobody alone for Slendy to slice up. Maybe if they could find a picture in somebody's pocket and daisy-chained their way through the door holding hands they could all escape...

It suited the D'ni, but they were a race blind to the evils of their traditions. It suits the Slenderman, but he is evil. It probably won't suit Jack & Co. very well.

chaos, I hadn't considered that they might all have phones. If they do, that could be a big help. They should definitely try to at least warn the others somehow about the door and the creature; everyone's already afraid of it, but AFAIK, it hadn't hurt any of them directly before. Maybe you could email or comment about that? I sent a basic game-face email after the last post, but I'm 0 for 3 on the email front. Maybe you'll get a response.

Read that article, JacKay; the monk stuff is intriguing. And this part gave me chills:
Quote:
"Your body will not be found," he writes. "You will become a missing person and slowly disappear from people's memory." The book sold millions of copies.

Maybe it's a cultural thing, but that just sounds so much worse than "only" suicide. Like Todd in John Dies at the End, just... erased. Gives you an idea of the desperate atmosphere this place must have.

The monk thing reminded me, I was reading up on Aokigahara awhile ago when I found this:
Quote:
Networks of ancient footpaths pass timidly through the shade, guarded by armies of stone statues (Jizo); guardians against the unseen but certainly felt consciousness hidden in the shadows of the trees.  Many of them so ancient that their features have been worn smooth by the weather.

(Article here.)

More about Jizu (found here):
Quote:
Jizo is the protector of children, expectant mothers, firemen, and travelers. Most of all, he is the protector of deceased children, including miscarried, aborted or stillborn infants. In Japanese folklore, Jizo hides the children in his robes to protect them from demons and guide them to salvation.

Then I remembered this quote from t3hkender, back on pg. 12:
t3hkender wrote:
EDIT: I did a little research with the kanji on Google. The "Jyu-San" ("13") could also be pronounced "Juzou" which means a statue. I don't think it's the right kanji for statue, but it kind-of fits considering that most of the time, Slendy doesn't move much.

I'm not convinced this statue stuff is relevant; the Dark Tower Black-13 makes more sense to me. But there it is anyway. Sorry for the long-ass post.

I left him a comment under the name Rini. We'll see if anything comes of it.

Update today. We hear from Serah. And it looks like the Dark Tower theory is being acknowledged. Serah at least seems to think it has some relevance.

Kinda wish I had finished that series, but I had the damned ending spoiled for me on an unmarked spoiler once.

Sorry if I don't remember, by why is 19 letters important?

I have no clue, really. My first ARG had everything to do with the number 19 as well, and the Dark Tower stuff, but I never figured it out. All I think of is this song I know: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPWUrtuDau8

Which doesn't help. I guess Serah is taking over for now.

Nineteen is a significant number in the series, it pops up everywhere.
