Maybe I'm just paranoid after we found out who we were communicating with through the I Like Trees blog, but I find it a little suspect that a link claiming to let us contact Selznick takes us to a blog being written by someone going through Selznick's file. And that Jim Drake isn't being a bit more discrete about going over his superior's head and posting information he was told to ignore. Any thoughts?

EDIT: Okay, this looks like 2003 Signet revised edition in mass market paperback. Here's the page I found. You'll notice that the cover is SLIGHTLY different than the one of the blog (the layout is basically the same, just with black instead of yellow contrast text), but the cover on the blog is right now being used for the Kindle version of the same text.

I'm going to Barnes and Noble at lunch to see if I can find a copy.

EDIT EDIT: Got the book. Looks right. The code on the blog page translates to: BLACK APOTHEOSIS RISING.

The code is 000-page/00-line/00-word

Okay, sorry to double post, but this was long and I didn't want to triple edit.

Okay folks, checked the thread, along with Black13's twitter (which is also shut down by the FBI), just in case there was activity there (nothing much since the last video)

There are three book cipher entries. The first one was the same as posted in the FBI blog. The others are basically broken, which might be user error again. Hopefully we'll get updated codes, since the original one was resubmitted. Here's what the codes show according to my edition (2003 signet revised edition, mass market paperback edition).

The second: 0150601 0150602 0150708 0150709*

EARTH FROM TWO YEARS*

* Page 015, line seven only has 8 words in it. The next word of the text is "years", but it is on the 8th line in my text.

The third: 0262201 0273810** 0262202 0272702**

ONE ?? OF ??

** In this edition, a full page of text is limited to 26 lines, or 27 if you count the title header line which always reads "The Gunslinger". As such, there is no 38th or 27th line. The second word of the 27th line (if closing the header line) on page 27 is "paused". Which doesn't make much sense.


So, I could have the wrong edition, but I sort of doubt it. This is a commonly available edition of the book and consistent with the picture that Selznick posted. Given the prior history of user error when putting in these codes, I think maybe that the original data might be wrong - particularly since the first code message sort of made sense.

We'll just have to see.

EDIT: In case anyone is wondering, the ISBN of the copy I bought today is 978-0-451-21084-5. It's printed on the back of the book near the bar code.
