I inferred that Daniel knows where Edmund is, which seems to be true since Dan was kidnapped. so I sent an email to Helen in which I wrote "You know that your father is alive."
I just worded the sentence wrongly, I should have wrote "Did you know that your father was still alive?"

so this was on the secure page:
Code Name "tornok" reports that he suspects that Daniel Fitzpatrick knows his father is alive and potentially where he is living.

Code Name "cowril" reports that she overheard SAIC officials (old timers) talking about the case. Here is the conversation:

Official 1: Do you recall the Fitzpatrick case, he was working on our project?

Official 2: How could I forget that disaster, it took 15 years to recover from that!

O1: Yes, it appears as though his cover has been blown again.

O2: Oh no!

O1: And get this [unintelligible] outed him! The FBI and U.S. Marshalls had to be brought in on the whole thing - he's on the run! The FBI has orders to [unintelligible] or [unintelligible].

Code Name "trueplay" reports that he trailed Daniel until he was "kidnapped" off the street in broad daylight by masked men in a black van. [ed. note: I know it's a cliche, but it really happened].

Code Name "asgard" reports that he received a tip from someone at the Pentagon that the project that Edmund was working on was resurrected 12 years ago. It's still Top Secret "need to know".

Code Name "tinker" reports that he received a email from an anonymous source. He hasn't forwarded it to us yet. [ed. note: he may have been compromised]

 		so what do we know?
Edmund working for the DOD was switched and put into hiding
While in hiding Edmund contacted Daniel and they have been in touch ever since
Daniel was kidnapped recently, I'm going to infer it was the government.
whatever Edmund was working on was a disaster that took 15 years to clean up
the Feds have orders to blank or blank him: capture or kill?
12 years ago the project Edmund was working on was resurrected and is deemed TOP SECRET
did I miss anything?

Jason -

Daniel did not know for certain that he was alive until you posted it on the VI wiki. We found out our Father was still alive at about the same time.

I know Daniel fancies himself as an expert on accents, but he's not. Don't put too much stock in his answers about them.

All I know about the vacation is we won a contest for free flights/free 2wk stay in the Bahamas.

As far as him not contacting us, that's not strictly true. When our mother died we were sent by our "uncle" Robert several presents and gifts of money. I learned just before this investigation started my Father never had a brother. If my suspicions prove true that "uncle", was in fact my dad!

It doesn't make up for leaving us, but we should hear my father's side of the story first. Where is he? How do you know he is alive?

I replied back asking if she still had the address of "Uncle Robert" it could be a big clue as to where Edmund is

 		Maybe he's being forced to tell everyone he's okay? That happens in a lot of victim situations to get people to back off.

 		Is anyone taking the opportunity to be a full investigator? It sounds awesome (communicating by snail mail and e-mail with other investigators, etc.), but this is my first plunge into ARG so I'm nervous. XD

Do any of you see something odd perhaps in the email? It does sound to me like maybe someone else is the one who wrote it. Like it was a joke about death or something, like 'going on vacations permanently' or something...but I was just wondering if I'm way off on this.

The whole thing seems really odd. Where did the "Arty" nickname come from, if this is all on a professional basis? Has he always gone by "Dan," I think everyone's been calling him Daniel.

And, since he was seen to be "kidnapped" (in quotes in the post, which makes me wonder how certain it was that it wasn't a setup), it's even odder.
