[OT] Bruce Boxleitner will NOT be at Dragon*Con 2011

Bruce has confirmed his return to Dragon*Con this year (Labor Day weekend in Atlanta).

Questions for the group:
1) Are any UFers going to be at Dragon*Con?
2) What FL item would you have Bruce sign? I think it would be ubercool to have him sign the FL pin, but don't see how that would work out, realistically. Any suggestions? I have many of the items, but no FL posters.

8/25 Update: BRUCE HAS CANCELED HIS APPEARANCE.

It appears due to a divorce filing from Melissa Gilbert, Bruce has canceled his appearance. My best wishes to both of them for a possible reconciliation or a speedy and painless separation.

I'll be there! (Ahhh! Under 70 days to go!) He canceled out of MegaCon in Florida earlier this year so I'm really pleased to have another chance.

I haven't decided what I want to have him sign, but I'm considering my Arcade Aid poster. Wish I had one of the Operation Tron/Flynn Lives posters because THAT would be a nice piece to have.

Other than that I've got a Captain John Sheridan figure that's been waiting for an autograph for years. Very Happy

We need to meet up at the Con. Smile I still have my wife's AA #666 poster, but I don't really want to transport that around. I may have him sign the Digital Frontier prop book...decisions decisions...

We should! I know I could probably entice a few of the ladies going with me to have a mini Flynn Lives moment.

I might even have my Tron costume wired up by then ... maybe.

I'm not going, but just thinking about your question, I would probably get the Encom badge signed, probably on the back of it. I think that would come off looking pretty cool.

Nice! And yeah, I would have a ton of Bab 5 stuff to get signed.

This will be my 5th Dragon Con. Bruce was at Dragon Con last year. Really nice guy. I got a classic picture of TRON signed by him and a picture with him. I like the idea of having the ENCOM badge signed. I also have some of the same accurate foam discs they used on the costumes in the original film. I might have him sign one of them.

A friend made me pair of postcard sized sketches of Tron and Rinzler. Another friend is fairly close with a free-running group that Anis Cheurfa hangs out with and thinks he might be able to get the Rinzler one signed by him ... if he comes though for me I am definitely bringing the Tron one to Dragon*Con to get signed by Bruce Boxleitner.

And I am getting those puppies framed as a set. [/nerd-alert]

Also: 37 days to go! Daaa! My Tron costume is so close to being done I can almost feel myself being sucked into the Grid.

I thought about doing one after last year's D*C, but gave up at the cost of EL stuff I'd need. Plus I never have really sewn anything before. Smile

I DO have costumes for D*C, tho!

I'm not really much of a seamstress, though I did sew my Sith and Tron robes, I'm more of a thrift store junkie and "combiner".

It's the electrical that's killing me on this costume. The cost is not so bad but making it work the way I want it to is holding me up. Originally the concept was I'd have two sets of lights, one white and one orange, that would flicker from one to the other when I flipped a switch. In the small scale it worked great ... in full size not so well. :/

I had to set it aside before I pitched the whole thing out a window. So now I'm working on a outfit for the 25th Anniversary Masked Ball.

One month left!

Tron panel at D*C with Bruce!

According to the preliminary schedule grid found here, Bruce will be part of a Tron panel at 1pm Friday during D*C!

The panel is titled:
TRON revisited with Bruce Boxleitner

I don't see any conflicts for any other panels I want to see, so I'll be there unless anything changes. Smile

He's doing a Babylon 5 one 7pm on Saturday.

I just wish that William Shatner's panel (on both days no less Confused ) is immediately before Bruce Boxleitner's. That's really heck on my filming schedule.

At least Carrie Fisher's got moved otherwise I REALLY would have been pushing it Friday.

I saw the Shat with Nimoy a couple years ago. As a result, no real desire to see him again...I've seen enough ST actors rehash the same stories that I don't have any desire to do that again.

On the other hand, I have never seen Bruce speak, so I'm going to be at his panel for sure. Smile And maybe for the B5 panel, too. Smile

OK if somebody is gonna be filming those I would really, really appreciate it if a link to the videos could be posted here, if at all possible.
