That audio file came to me in another e-mail from Mr. Graham. The text of the message said: "Üç gün sınaq başlayır qədər." It's in Azerbaijani, and according to Google it translates thusly:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Three days before the trial begins.

I will do more digging tomorrow, and I will play with this audio file in Audacity. Sounds like it just needs to be reversed.

Good of Control to begin directing people back to uF. Maybe I'll hop on Skype tomorrow and see if it makes contact.

Perhaps even more interestingly, I got an e-mail from Mr. Graham's recently arisen corpse after I liked his post.

I figured out the code at the end of the email.

Vigenere with key "thedarknessishere" gives the email address JsmithSPLATIntermineLaboratories.co.cc

The Darkness? hmm...

Well, I have seen the darkness...first hand. I can only tell you so much...but I know that Intermine Laboratories is about to begin its first phase of testing...I wonder what happened to the freedom of PRESS...it won't be available for quite a while.

Alright back in the game I shall be. Looks like I'll be resuming my role again dears. Once the holiday passes I'll be able to focus a little better.

Great solve, LatentMoths. And as always, it's great to see the mole, DZombar.

I finally got a chance to run the .wav through Audacity. Basically it says to "forget the past," and that they're starting over.

I haven't managed to come up with any passwords for the Press page. I think it's strange that they are advertising in-game for their out-of-game sites.

Edit: Email from John Smith includes a maze image with no apparent "finish line." The image is titled "70565mabth.png." I thought this might be an indication for the password on the Press page, but no variations I've tried so far have been successful. I'm not sure what the Alamo reference is in the subject line...I Googled "alamo macbeth 70565" and got an Accelerated Reader quiz list (and an ad for Alamo car rentals). None of the search terms appeared together. Clearly I'm going about this all wrong. ^^

Sorry to double-post, but I wanted to bump this. Got an e-mail from ipressSPLATinterminelaboratories.co.cc. I see I was bcc'd, so I assume everyone else got the same thing.

"Hint hint," said the birdie. Rolling Eyes

Subject: re: Famous Battles

Thank you for your inquiry in the Intermine Press. We appreciate your interest in our product. At the current time, we can only reveal the information that we know personally as facts, but here is what we know:

The Battle of the Alamo (February 23 – March 6, 1836) was a pivotal event in the Texas Revolution. Following a 13-day siege, Mexican troops under President General Antonio López de Santa Anna launched an assault on the Alamo Mission near San Antonio de Béxar (modern-day San Antonio, Texas). All but two of the Texian defenders were killed. Santa Anna's perceived cruelty during the battle inspired many Texians—both Texas settlers and adventurers from the United States—to join the Texian Army. Buoyed by a desire for revenge, the Texians defeated the Mexican Army at the Battle of San Jacinto, on April 21, 1836, ending the revolution.

Of course, this occurred Almost 300 years ago, so it seems to be irrelevant at the current moment. Thank you for your inquiry.

Sincerely,
Lipsum Moralis
Daniel Brown
InterminePRESS.

The Alamo was all over the first reboot, which I had forgotten. The only other apparently pertinent detail from that "phase" was the idiom "line in the sand." I've pulled a post from page 1 that talks about it.

Apparently the phrase "line in the sand" is linked to the Alamo. From wiki:

In the United States, the phrase is most commonly associated with Texas history surrounding the Battle of the Alamo, as it is attributed to Colonel William Travis, commander of the Alamo defense forces.[1] In the waning days of the Battle (somewhere between March 3–5, 1836), with Mexican General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna having the Alamo completely surrounded, Santa Anna sent a messenger to Travis demanding surrender, or else everypony in the compound would be killed. According to the legend, Travis called the Alamo defenders together, explained that defeat was almost certain, and read the letter of surrender; Travis then (having chosen to die instead of surrender) reportedly pulled his battle sword, drew a line in the sand of the Alamo, and asked for volunteers to cross over the line and join him, understanding their decision would be irreversible. The legend states that all but one of the defenders (including Jim Bowie and Davy Crockett) joined Travis on his side of the line; Moses Rose being the only holdout. Travis then responded to Santa Anna's letter with cannon fire, whereupon Santa Anna replied by playing El Degüello.
