I have been thinking more about the cross-over between The Inferno, Wonderland and MDT.

The link to the inferno would depend on who Virgil is (Chris even tweeted this)

Virgil was- A guide
- A resident of Limbo
- On a devine mission to aid Dante to find Beatrice
- Intelligent

-DNC- Fits with the intelligence part and he is a resident of Limbo (he seems to be part of the group yet an outside, both physically distant (as seen in the meeting and in the bar) and mentally). However, he is not very fitting as a guide, while he has led Chris, he has often been very obtuse and I would say killing Kathleen rules him out as a guide.

-Adams- Now Adams would be my choice for Virgil. If we take the traditional Catholic veiw of Limbo then paste that over MDT as a whole Adams would fit. He is part of neither camp, yet goes between them both. His mission is not devine yet he seemingly has an outside reason to stick with Chris despite "the boys at the station" going against him. Also, I would say Adams knows more than any of the other options, Virgil was sent to aid Dante as he knew of the first and second circles, much like Adams knows serial killers. Virgil's stand out moment is when he informs Dante that Saten poses little risk to 2 travellers such as themselves, Adams has often tried to keep Chris and Kathleen safe by finding ways to make DNC less of a threat. Adams is also the only person to have left recently.

Something interesting about Adams is we know DNC has done something to, or knows something about him (based on the note he sent him). Yet Adams has kept going while still telling Chris to stop. In theory Adams is on the traditional heros journy. He is out to avenge or over-turn a great wrong. This would fit with him being from Limbo, he can not achive his salvation until he has atoned for what he has done.

Overall the progression of Inferno might be relevent. Virgil guides Dante to heaven where Beatice guides him to meet God, and Dante accepts this God.

We know DNC has used the Devil tarrot and an image of the grim reaper to describe himself, and it seems our new pulling force is Emily. In theory Chris could follow this pattern, having DNC lead him to the gates of heaven to allow Emily to carry him to god.

But in this case who is god? Well I would say the leader of this (Scientology based?) group. The action that allowed Chris to reach heaven was the rejection of temptation, by not killing Don.

However, this is MDT so I would predict this may be warped, as in DNCs eyes Hell might be the better place to be. Also is going to "god" means reaching the leader of the group then for Chris this could be worse.



Now if we look further into Wonderland we can see yet more links to the game.

It seems DNC knows his Carrol, as very early on he tweeted me a link to this image:

While on the surface it seems a refrence to my username on twitter it is actually a rather interesting image.

It comes from a 1915 silent movie adaption of the book, its not very well known and that image is not one that is quick to find via google, its one that would have taken some quite deep searching.

The fact that Alice has come back into it after this time shows that DNC knows about it (the fact he cuts up Ravens shows he may just like this era of books). The use of the Cheshire Cat in the twitter puzzle is interesting. It doesn't need to be there, in theory it could have been a text tweet or a .jpeg of text, the fact he decided to give us that image suggests it has meaning.

Also the fact he chose the 1950 Disney depiction of Cheshire shows a lot, rather than show an obscure image from the 1915 version like he did to me, he shows the most famous the one that the vast majority of the player base would know.

Apart from Cheshire being a guide much like Virgil he also represents a much more passive idea. Often Cheshire is cited as the definition of Chaotic Neutral thinking. Really no one in this story is Chaotic Netural. It is debatable if anyone is truely Chaotic, DNC is planned and calculating, Chris is often unplanned but not Chaotic.

The whole of Wonderland is often seen as playing with the impossible or surreal, which does fit with MDT. We have things that seem normal but are not, be it family dynamic, masks, crime, all of them are things we know with their rules inverted.

We could link Cheshire and DNC, both have been very passive towards Chris (yet we can not call DNC a passive party in this plot) but what he is known for is sitting around, sarcastically sniping at Alice, taking pleasure in her confusion. DNC seems to be like that (at times) His image in memory of Kathleen, his recent tweets mocking the speed of Chris' hunt all put him in a Cheshire position, the knowning party mocking the newcomer.

Its interesting to note, this is one of the first times a refrence from a DNC video has crossed into twitter, The Raven of Nevermore, has come into the twitter puzzle.

Also it pays to mention that DNC has also shown us a rodent skull (it seems like it may be a rats) but could this be a refrence to Alice's Dormouse?. The Dormouse is more famous for the line from Jefferson Airplane "Remember what the dormouse said: feed your head, feed your head"

You could say (with some fringe logic) we have all the members of the hatters table, the mouse, Alice (Chris), The Hare and The Hatter (DNC and Don). Again, if this follows it could almost be telling Chris he is out of his depth, he is without his Virgil, lost not in hell but in Wonderland, at the table where his version of logic no longer works.

Jono - Excellent theories! I'm really sad I missed the chat discussion when all this took place, I bet it was a blast.

Since it seems like the game is at a lull right now (as this thread moves further and further down the list) now seems like a really good time to start putting things together in the big picture and forming theories that we will need to approach the next (last?) part of this story.

I wonder if we still get the prizes even if the Kickstarter doesn't get funded? Cos I would totally buy merch, and I know a few of my friends who are fans who'd love some too. XD I'm working on saving up the $150 to donate, got $100 saved up, just need to do some chores for the $50 and pray that nothing comes up that I need to pay for, like car problems or something. ;-; Need to actually go to the bank and get it on my card first though. :p
