 		I find this very interesting (: I think the obvious thing to think here would be the Zodiac killer... but the numbers don't match, and it's a little too obvious, don't you think.
After all of the numbers were released, I think the easiest thing to go off of would be the CA numbers as they are so high.
I googled "California "24 dead"" and found nothing that did not involve a natural disaster of some sort.
So I went ahead and googled for a missing person report in 1999 (as that is the only year we can go off of) and found THIS. Maybe this can lead to some kind of evidence, if only we knew what year his father was possibly in CA and what county. I'll try mailing him and see if I get a reply.

Edit: The only reason the numbers don't match up are because there are too many, right? This is easily explained as the last confirmed letter from the Zodiac was in 1974, giving him plenty of time to reach the number of victims tallied on the sheet in the book.

Since the mysterious note's video info was the same as the day and place of Stein's murder, I'd say there is definitely the possibility of a connection to the Zodiac.

 		Well, I choose 1999 as that was from the opening of the box video, in which they said the receipts were from 1999. Though I doubt that is the actual year that he took any victims in CA... it could be an earlier year, that's why I emailed him.
And I understand that there are a lot of similarities from the Zodiac case, but I thought he represented his total killings at 37 in his last letter? That'd make his dad's murder number total (if that is what the numbers represent) way higher than what the Zodiac gave. And I know there's still that area of speculation that the Zodiac killer could have gone farther, but that's still just speculation and can't really be used as fact, just an alternate theory.
I don't exactly know how you got the date of Stein's murder from the note though... am I missing something? Or am I looking at the wrong note?

EDIT: Are you talking about the Stine murder case connected with the Zodiac killer? Or is there an actual Stein somewhere involved in this?

 		the Paul Stine case, yeah. The secret video everyone was trying to find for a week, if you look at the statistics for it, it lists the location and date as the same as the Stine murder.

 		The basketball scores look like a grille cipher. Could be that the numbers themselves are meaningless, it's the grille that's important we just need to find the correct grid to put it on. Much easier said than done, of course.

As we can see on this tickets, they're receipts for money orders. They're kind of like checks so maybe, as someone said earlier, someone was really paying his father for... something.

The only real information I was able to extract from them is that Republic Money Orders is a real company, and that it was bought for Travelers Express in early 1989 (not really sure about my fonts here, since they make you pay to take a look at the actual transaction). Were that to be true, we can at least say that this guy made something important enough to keep a record in a safe after 1989, which I know it's not saying much...

Also, every reference I was able to find says that this company is based in Minnesota, but the tickets say Texas. Maybe there are thousands of offices, but, you know...

 		It seems to me like he was laundering money. He had one fake dollar, money order receipts, and a deposit slip.

You take the fake money (probably mixed with genuine) and buy some money orders. Then you cash the money orders and deposit in your bank, then you can withdraw your laundered money.

 		i dont think its money laundering its 3 dollars.. and there are 2 reasons to money launder.. one is being a bank robber and the other is having an income so large you gotta hide from the IRS

It looks like it should be a 5x5 this time. But the sign off for this one is 25 ≠ 26, instead of the previous 24 ≠ 26. Is this just a clue about the grid? Or is it a clue to how many letters are missing from the alphabet this time?

 		Can someone please explain briefly how to use the grid to decode donotcontinue's codes? I got the spreadsheet in front of me and have been trying to come up with the answer to the code from the new video that weakandwounded solved, but it is not clicking for me. I'm pretty new to all this, sorry about being a nub. :l Thanks!

I think there could be some hidden message in the original video from "donotcontinue".

I lined up the characters from the message in a spreadsheet according to how they appear in writing:



Trying to look for patterns, I see a few words appear when reading vertically and left to right, but it could just be coincidence:

D DO NOW ON NO OTN THE CI WOS IN PL TA LIT WN HI UNE

The spaces were my attempt to extract something meaningful. Any other ideas?

P.S. - On a hunch, I checked to see if there were any Youtube users called "downthispath" (doesn't exist) or "noonewillwin" (exists, but seems to be an unrelated user in the Phillipines with no videos).

Donaldson, it does look as though there could be a hidden message there. I like the UEDN outside of the grid, maybe that will lead to something.


Icey, it's kind of hard to explain how I did it - I'm sure someone else will be able to better explain it to you if I cannot. I basically set the grid up in Excel - A B C D E on top and 1 2 3 4 5 on the Y-axis. I left the inside of the grid blank so I could play around with the letters.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Underneath the grid I lined up the code we were given like Jabroni did. The fifth word was "D3C4C4C3A5D2." I noticed the double C4 and figured it would either be E or O. I tried E first and plugged the other letters into the grid, it didn't work. I tried O and it did!


Sorry if that was no help at all, I'm horrible at explaining.

Drug dealers, arms dealers, prostitutes/pimps, mercenaries, hitmen, etc all launder money.

Money laundering is a huge business because there's a million and one reasons to want to launder your money.

He could have been counterfeiting money. Sure there's only three dollars but the fact that one is fake could have been kept as a souvenir or to show how good his bills were compared to real money at the time.

Just because there is only three in the box now doesn't mean thats all there ever was.
