[META/OOG] Gum Opinion Thread
Share you thoughts on the gum so far...

First let me say that I'm not much of a gum chewer, and to be honest, I don't normally buy gum unless I'm trying to stay awake to study for an exam. However, since this game started my jaw is sore all of the time now!

I imagine a lot of you have markedly increased your gum consumption because of the game. I know I have. I've tried gum I wouldn't have even thought twice about picking up, so from a marketing standpoint I think this was a good idea for 5/Wrigley.

I think my biggest complaint is that, with the exception of the flavors that have mint in them, the flavor just doesn't last long enough, but this is coming from the guy who will smoke a cig down to the butt, so go figure!

I think that's a valid point. For example, I love green apple gum, and I'm always wishing that the flavor of Vortex lasted longer. However, after reading all the comments about Vortex on these threads, I may be the only one who wants that flavor to last longer. =P Maybe tone down the mint and increase the sour....?

Hi guys. I don't like gum at all. Fortunately my brother does, so I managed to buy 3 boxes with him when we were in the Benelux states on a bus tour. No luck... should have remembered there are no codes in Europe. I chewed one piece of Flood though. Tasted the same as any other gum for me.

In Hungary some people have a habit of saying "all Americans are stupid". (No offense intended.) That view is reinforced when I tell them about the game and about people buying multiple multipacks just for codes and then they eat 10 times more gum than they usually do.

I'm not stupid because I would buy only the necessary amount for all the keycodes and then give all the gum to my brother. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Good save, you're not stupid because *insert irrelevant reason here*. I've only bought enough gum as necessary too. What makes you any different?

Whoa, there, Sparky! Wink

Back to the gum thread....

Swerve: Great burst of flavor, but it fades really fast....

I just tried a piece of Swerve with a piece of Rain.... Not so good...

The fruit is all good.

2 combinations I love:

1 Vortex + 1 Prism = "Fruitgasm In Your Mouth"*

1 Vortex + 1 Prism + 1 Lush = "Fruitkkake"*

*Wrigley may freely use these slogans for 5 Gum advertising

So far I've only found Vortex with the codes. I've only eaten one stick as it leaves a horrible aftertaste.
Which is to bad, aside from that, it's a decent apple flavor.

I *like* 5 gum. Got maybe five packs, plus the one they sent me. I like having a pack or two in my purse (fruity for when I'm hungry, or minty for fresh breath). The only superfluous pack I've gotten has been an uncoded React. How, exactly, does this make me stupid?

By the way... how does React taste to you? I think the fruit kind tastes like children's chewable grape Tylenol, especially after mint, or all the other flavors have worn down. Mint type tastes like Cobalt.

It reminds me of Fruit Stripes gum, and I'm always worried the flavor will be gone within the span of a few chomps.

Thanks to this game, I DID indeed bring up my day-to-day chewing ratio. My favorite is cobalt, probably, because it tastes really fresh. I usually enjoy spearmint, but I think there's better ones out there than Rain. The mint version of React I don't really like (and I don't actually think it tastes much like Cobalt). Fruit version is okay.

I want to try Solstice next, but I can never find it no matter where I look around here.

Ugh I agree Swerve is so delicious, but you'd think with how pricey the gum is it would have at least a slightly longer lasting flavor.

Also Rain and Swerve sound like and AWFUL mix!

Has anyone seen any packs of Zing?

I don't chew gum (if they had peppermint instead of spearmint I would totally give it a try) but when I got a pack of Swerve (I think?) in the mail with my ID badge, it smelled DELICIOUS.

My boyfriend apparently likes gum (who knew? I had no idea) and he seemed pretty satisfied with the flavor. He even managed to blow a few bubbles, although he had to explain to me that it's not bubble gum so it doesn't have the structural integrity for big bubbles, multiple bubbles, etc. etc. etc.

The packaging is gorgeous and the smell is great, if a little overbearing. I might pick up one of the mintier flavors to try it myself if there is a peppermint flavor after all. I have a huge weakness for peppermint.

I'm pretty sure Cobalt is peppermint.

Is it? I'm always hesitant to try mint-flavored things because I HATE spearmint but LOVE peppermint. It's so disappointing to expect deliciousness and encounter vileness instead. Sad

I may have to try that out... >.>
