The thing that I keep coming back to is the IM message. How are lions, and tigers and bears related to this???? What birthplace are we looking for?

That is a little sad. Good PM should NOT use information from uF to influence his/her game nor his/her emails to players. Character responses should be only on player emails or posts on an in-game site, NOT from posts here in uF. uF is out-of-game and should be a SAFE HAVEN to discuss data, information, collective puzzle solving, free from PM intervention (and no character should reference uF posts since TINAG means the characters do NOT know they are living in an alternate reality).

"Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh My" is something Dorothy said as she traveled down the Yellow Bring Road on her way to Oz to see the Wizard. This portion is just before going into the forest (where she would soon run into the Cowardly Lion.

Well, he never did mention anything to do with UF, it's more that he effectively used my username to find me here, then used the fact that I put my AIM information on my profile to find me that way. It's actually pretty smart, if you ask me. I've seen other PMs hint for new players to come here, as well as using what's said to track where they are in solutions, just to see if further hints should be given. It may not be good practice for keeping things realistic, but it certainly keeps the PMs from losing their minds from worrying about whether their puzzles are too hard and why people can't figure them out.

Double post because I have a solution and a new puzzle.

So far, we know that the top image is of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The bottom image is of the cover to Lady Gaga's single "Alejandro'.

Looking back on it, I'm sure that his line "Lions and tigers and bears, oh my" was a hint to me that the conversation really was in-game. We talked for quite some time, actually. He gave me some background information, asked a lot of questions, and gave me a few hints. I can put up a log if you all would like to see it.

So, on to how I got the solution. Spoiler time!

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
A list of what the images and code tell us:
1. Philadelphia
2. Alejandro
3. Dorothy and her goal
4. The Lion and his goal

Our hints:
1. You're looking for a person.
2. This puzzle has nothing to do with paintings.
3. This puzzle has nothing to do with birthdays.
4. This puzzle does have something to do with a birthplace.
5. That is Lady Gaga.
6. That specific image of Lady Gaga is very important.
7. This puzzle has nothing to do with slippers.
8. It would appear that music is very important to this puzzle.

Conclusions
1. Dorthea = Dorothy. So, by extension, Alejandro = Alexander
2. Birthplace is most likely Philadelphia, since Dorothy's goal was to go home.
3. The Wizard of Oz is a musical, therefore there must be a composer (pointed out to me, I didn't get that one).
4. The Lion's goal remains: he wanted courage.

And the solution itself:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The person we are looking for in this one is Alexander "Sandy" Courage, who happened to be the composer for the theme of Star Trek. Turns out the "bring lotion" bit was a hint at "Sandy".

This is what happens when I have nothing to do on a Saturday night...

Anyway, here's what I know about that mp3:

The music is from The Planets written by Gustav Holst, more specifically "Mars".
A list of what I believe I heard spoken:
1. Chelsea
2. Not veterinary
3. But young, male employees
4. Item three on the magic ____
5. Aberdeen(?)
6. Subjugation of becoming
7. Item one on collection two

Also, the image given on the original link is another combo. The first is a white dove, typically used to represent the Holy Spirit of the Christian religions. The second is an image of Betty Blythe in one of her most famous roles as the Queen of Sheba.

I hope this helps someone, 'cause my brain is just about fried with all the stuff I've been working on today Sad

i dunno... back when we were doing the part with the actors and their hometown locations, i sent what everyone else sent here as a answer and it was apparently incorrect, and i got this reply back:

Quote:
Perhaps it would be less embarrassing if you finished reading the thread before you posted this incorrect answer.

Tevan Aelaan

the fact that he mentions "the thread" seems to be a breach of in-game terms to me. i'll be sitting the rest of this one out and watch from a distance as this is turning out to be a little too OOG for my tastes.

I get the distinct impression that this is a first-time PM...maybe everyone could cut him a little slack for now?

On my first listen I thought #4 said "Item three on the magic word", but now the more I listen to it I'm unsure. I think #5 is Aberdeen which is a city in Washington State where Kurt Kobain, frontman for Nirvana, was from.

Now *that* would be weird, seeing as I actually don't live that far from Aberdeen Proving Ground. I suppose we'll see...

Yep saw that too...along with Aberdeen, Scotland and Hong Kong and California etc. I just went with the first thing that popped into my head when I heard Aberdeen and what with all the music clues we've been getting made the most sense to me. Who knows though...we could be looking for Aberdeen (a band out of Los Angeles) or Aberdeen (a film starring the dude that played the math professor in Good Will Hunting). I guess we won't know until we figure out how all this fits together with the other clues. Who knew that there were so many Aberdeens out there...

Both Dove (chocolate) and Sheba (cat food) are brand names of Mars Inc.

If you listen to the mp3 in stereo, you'll hear that the first few pieces of speech come from the left speaker, and the last few come from the right speaker.

I think that "Not veterinary, but young male (or mail?) employees" may make up one whole sentence. If so, we might have two lists of three:

Left speaker:
1. Chelsea
2. Not veterinary, but young male/mail employees
3. Item three on the magic word

Right speaker:
1. Aberdeen
2. Subjugation of becoming
3. Item one on collection two

Chelsea and Aberdeen are both place names in Great Britain (and other places I'm sure). In addition, they both give their names to types of food: Chelsea Buns and Aberdeen Rolls.

According to the properties of the mp3 file, it is titled "boldlytowar"
