I suppose they've been preparing and lying in wait for the better part of a year, if not longer. This is definitely feeling bigger and bigger as things start to come together.

I find it odd that a company that's been around for a while with this kind of technology has only made a website a year ago? For ARG terms, having this all set up a year ago is very prepped, but for a company, that's slacking.

Countdown

Okay, so I found some relevance to the 1 year registration dates: I went and read the project prep doc on the veilnanoscience.net has posted:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Counting Down to Project Mnemosyne
We're glad you've decided to pursue your interest in Project Mnemosyne. Within you will find a wealth of information about the project and where you can go to find out more.
Surely, the first question must be "When does Project Mnemosyne" begin? The simple answer is one year, but so much time and effort has gone into developing this project that it seems difficult to say it! But yes, exactly one year from now, you will be joining us in beautiful San Francisco if you choose to be a part of this world-changing experience. The countdown shows about 22 days left so this could line up...

Got a response from the support email for Presidio. Not much to report, but here is the correspondance

ME: I am having a difficult time accessing some of the pages on the site. Is this perhaps related to the 'minor security breach' mentioned on the homepage? Specifically, I am having trouble logging into my student account. Thank you for your time, I hope to hear from you soon!

Response: Hello.

We appreciate you contacting the IT support department here at the
Presidio Institute of Technology. Due to an abnormal increase in
support contact, we are unable to respond at this time. We apologize
for any inconvenience.

-Presidio IT Support

Here's the strange part. I sent it to supportSPLATpresidioinstitute.net, and as you can see, it was signed Presidio IT Support, but the name on the e-mail is Malcolm Willard, a.k.a. the sitting director of the Nanoscience program. Strange to say the least, possibly an oversight by the PM, nevertheless, thought it warranted mention. Also, if you want to see this yourselves, e-mail the support address, the response was instant so I think its automated.

And the plot thickens!

Glad to have another participant.

EDIT: I changed up the email to Presidio Support, and got the same response.

Oh, and btw this is definitely a trailhead, I remember some posting a few months back asking for addresses for an upcoming game(Don't remember the rest of the details sorry), that's the only thing that I can remember giving my address recently.

The only time I've given my address out was in the main thread (the player recruitment thread), so I'm assuming that's where it came from.

EDIT: I take that back, that's a lie. I've never posted my shipping information on uF. Peculiar.

Alright, so, first activity of the day - just received a reply from Theresa about the letters and numbers that we found bold-faced throughout the packet.

Theresa wrote:
Damian,

Thank you again for contacting me. I've been receiving quite a few emails (which is why I'm back in the office before 8:00 AM) about the materials we sent out. I'm aware of the letters, but to be quite frank, they don't have any significance to me, but I wasn't involved in putting the materials together either. I did run it by the HR office manager, he of course had no idea.

At this point, the only thing we are aware of is that someone pulled some sort of prank by switching up the order of the pages and bold-facing a few letters to say something.

All of the files on our servers do NOT show anything like that. As far as I know, the PDF on our website was what they were supposed to be packaging up with the materials.

Anyway, I appreciate you trying to help. Maybe if you could figure out what it's supposed to say, we can find out who did it? Not that I'm for getting people in trouble, but this is a project that we've worked on for a long time, and someone screwing around with something like this is childish and immature.

For that, I apologize on behalf of the company.

Please take care.

So, there we go. Guess we've got some cracking to do.

Could it be as simple as taking the bolded letters and replacing the 3 with a C, the 5 with an E, to give "Cory Weter"?

Hello Mr. and Mrs. Silva, my name is Josh Argeris. I don't hope to take too much of your time and I hope this e-mail finds you well. I am doing a little research about Veil Nanoscience, and more specifically, Dr. Alec Veil. In my research I found that Dr. Veil, along with Dr.'s Miller and Bradenburg of Veil Nanoscience, were once under your employ at CBALtech. If at all possible, I was hoping you could share some information with me about this particular time in your companies history. Specifically, what led to the departure of the aforementioned Dr.'s Veil, Miller and Bradenburg. Any information at all regarding these three, be it personality, job duties at CBALtech, so on and so forth, would be of great value to me. I would also like to thank and congratulate you on the work you are currently doing at CBALtech. Your malaria research will help millions of impoverished families in the parts of the world that must deal with this vicious disease. I thank you for your time, and await your reply with bated breath.

Sincerly,
Josh Argeris

Mr. Argeris,

This is the second email today that is requesting information on Veil Nanoscience. We are not in the business of discussing our competition.

So Joe's kinda a dick. Far more interesting was this...

Mr. Argeris,

Hello dear. Thank you for the kind words.

Unfortunately, I'm not at liberty to say much about Dr. Veil and his company. I will always consider him a friend, always much more so than a competitor.

Because of that, I try to stay away from getting caught up in what they are doing over there. Dr. Veil, Dr. Miller, and Dr. Bradenburg were our top three researchers. Alec had the vision, Donald had the courage, and Hope had the brains. Those three were incredible.

I'm sorry that I can't help you further.

What's with the difference in tone between Alice and Joseph here? Obviously something happened, probably involving Veil's departure from the company (maybe he porked Alice) but whatever it is, it left Joey a lot more bitter than Alice.

I also received an email back from Ms. Markovich. Nothing really of note in it, only notable for what it didn't say. I asked for information about Mnemosyne, as well as Dr. Veil. She didn't mention Dr. Veil once in the email. I'll post it if someone wants to read it but it doesn't seem like anything relevant is contained.

EDIT: In terms of next steps, what do I do here? Like I said, first ARG. I think I asked the right person the right question, where it seems like Alice is our friend. So do I push for more here, or leave it be and be excited we appear to have a potential ally for use later?

Um, this looks weirdly professional for an ARG. Are we sure this is going to be an ARG and not an actual thing?

I know it sounds kinda speculative with the nanotechnology, but we're sure this is gonna be an ARG, right?

This is defiantly an ARG, I live in SF there is no presidio institute of technology also the street that Veil in lists as it's corporate address doesn't exist. This looks super fun, I can't wait to see what will unfold ^_^

I also live in sf, and I found out that there are no streets named Project Park and that the zip code 90013 is in Los Angeles. Maybe they're based in LA and they're gonna do a live event in SF?

Very interesting responses you've gotten - I do support the idea that Veil might have porked Alice, lol. Seems she's got a soft spot for him. She could be an asset.

On my end, like I said, all I've gotten is a hint towards solving the 3Oryw5ter and seeing if it helps pinpoint who pulled the joke on the packets that were mailed out.

EDIT: Whoever mentioned the 'Cory Weter' thing, that's closer to something legit than anything I've gotten. I shot Theresa an email about it. Who knows, you might have gotten it.

Was taking a look at the HTML on the veilnanoscience.net page and found
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
some embedded links to a blog account: http://www.blogger.com/profile/10454467081706844706
Not really much there but it's listed as a Veil Nanoscience account

I'm trying everything I can on the 30ryw5ter problem. I did notice that it has the same number of characters as the word "mnemosyne" but no luck on a key or anything.
