Random theory: Presumably Jane is his daughter, and Alec, Jane, and his unnamed wife were heading north past exit 77 on October 9, 2000 when there was an accident that killed the wife and did ... something... to Jane.

Alec stepped down as CEO of Veil Nanoscience about 5 months later, in March of 2001. Now I'm wondering if his return to Veil and the memory tech is an attempt to bring back his daughter's memories. Which makes me even more worried for the test subjects in ward 5.

(I was writing something slightly different when the info about exit 77 was posted. There's also a route 77 in Jersey, so I was thinking that.)

Well, THAT was largely a waste of time.

I asked Joseph about Alec and Veil Nanotech, and he didn't... really take it well. He answered me rather curtly, with limited information and no real new information, just ominous foreshadowing. Here's what I asked:

Dear Joseph Silva,

I have been working on the article we discussed prior, and I'm confident that you'll like it. I do, however, have a question that would be entirely off the record, if you were willing to answer it.

I understand this is a sore subject, and I don't want to anger you. But recently a friend of mine, a private investigator of sorts, has been investigating the company Veil Nanoscience, and he's been uncovering some rather disturbing stuff about the place. A friend of ours who worked there, a young man named Cory, found some rather disturbing information and then suddenly vanished. A good man, with a fiancee and friends, suddenly just disappearing out of the blue. Something happened, and it's going to keep happening unless these affairs are dragged out into the light.

I know that Alec Veil once worked under you, and he worked on researching new technologies in the company which I'm guessing caused CBALtech a great deal of grief about when he left. I don't know what those projects are, but please, if you know ANYTHING about Alec Veil or what his company is or was working on, you could save a lot of lives and do a lot of true good by telling me.

Please. I know CBALtech does good work. And I really respect you a lot for it. And I can prove what I claim, if you're willing to trust me. But please, for the love of everything, help me.

Mr. Zobot,

Dr. Veil is not someone I prefer to discuss at this time. He is obviously, if what you said is true, pursuing the same thing he did when he was here. Here in Princeton, we have morals. We have real, tangible objectives.

The fact is, yes, Dr. Veil was a bright mind that worked for us in our New Jersey complex. He went too far. Too far for my comfort and too far for humanity.

He didn't want to see the facts.

That's all I have to say about the matter.

Nothing. I WANT to press him more on it, but I worry that if I do we'll dry up what could be a potential future source of information. He might refuse to talk to anybody.

And I don't know what else to do!

Maybe if we had some compelling evidence to show him that he NEEDED to tell us, or some evidence of Alec's wrong doing...

Oh, Lord did I pick one hell of a time to disappear for a while. Okay, looks like I've got a weeks worth of catching up to do. I don't have nearly the free time to spend on this that I did at the start (new job whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat) but I'm gonna do my best to keep abreast of what's going on here, and pop in as often as possible. I'll go down the impressive list of discoveries and see if I have anything to add or speculate tomorrow. AWESOME WORK GUYS

Korinthian, is she mailing the contents of the packet to you, or uploading them somewhere for us to peruse?

Also, I couldn't help but smirk when I saw the enlargement email and the email from the African prince. Very classy, haha.

I doubt Veil would tell anyone where it was he was going. He probably is going to the memorial site of his wife's death since the anniversary is in 3 days but where else he goes is a mystery
