Mmm... thanks guys. That lays my fears to rest.

Not really sure what we're supposed to be doing right now except waiting for more info, but this looks really exciting so far. You can really tell a lotta work has been done on this!

So I emailed Alice as well, and received pretty much the same response. Theresa also answered a question I had initially sent infoSPLATveilnanoscience.com, which was apparently forwarded to her. So far, no real concrete information.

As for the jumbled letters, I spent most of my class time today anagraming "eorwyster", converting the letters into numbers instead, and trying it that way. I got a few name possibilities, but there are way too many options to just start throwing questions at Theresa or someone else about them, and none of the names even come close to the staff list that was mailed to us in the packet. Running out of ideas for this thing.

EDIT: Also, since computers are far smarter and more efficient than I, here is a full list of possibilities for that anagram.

Interesting. I was just about to leave for my last class when I got this email from Theresa.

Damian,

If you don't mind me asking, I'm on lunch break and was curious as to why you are so interested in the letters/numbers? I mean, I'm interested too, don't get me wrong. I'd kind of like to see whoever did this disciplined.

But, 99% of the emails coming in today have been asking more about the project and the company. Some have mentioned the letters, but you seem to be very involved.

What am I missing here?

- Theresa

It seems I've piqued her interest in some way. Maybe this will lead to something.

I did that earlier today oddly enough, I didn't report here because I didn't find anything on the list that really stuck out. I did google Rye Towers and Troy Sewer because they sounded like locations, but to no avail.

Yea, like I said, I haven't come up with anything substantial on it. Now someone mentioned that those letters match up to the same amount in "Mnemosyne" - I haven't looked into any correlation or possibility of using it as a key or anything. I'm interested to see what Theresa will say in response - maybe it'll lead us to something.

EDIT: Anyone else feel like we're missing something with the Safety Concerns page? I mean, I can see where the paragraph about Safety Concerns fits into the page, but is the smudges and the rest to just be discounted as printer error, or is there something legible to be seen between those lines?

So I waited until this morning to email presidio about the security breech and got a reply a few minutes ago:
Quote:

Hello Madison,
Sorry for taking so long to respond. As you know, yes, we did have a minor security breach. We are still investigating. For now, please report to the Office of Student Records in the Administration Building for any matters related to your account.
Until this is resolved, many links on the site will not work. We are doing out best to fix this issue. Thank you.

- IT Support

The email was from: supportSPLATpresidioinstitute.net but it wasn't a specific individual that replied.

I noticed on the map of the campus for presidio that all buildings have numbers, so maybe the code has something to do with that... I don't know. Just thought I'd share. Very Happy

Well that's interesting for a number of reasons. For one, the response was different than the one Thermal and I received. Secondly, the links are working now. Yesterday, I tried to navigate the site and got 404 links on everything practically.

New post cause this is actually somewhat good information.

Theresa wrote:
Damian,

Well, I think we have the same goal. I'm not sure what your reasoning is, other than sheer curiosity, but mine is to find out who is messing with all of the work we've put in. Do you have any friends, relatives, or acquaintances who also got the package? We certainly did send them to a certain target demographic, so maybe ask around?

The HR office is actually in a separate building within this business park. I don't know most of the people who work over there. I've called them, but they don't know anything apparently. Although, of course they would say that, right?

Anyway, since you're so interested, my only advice is to try and find some other people who got the materials. Maybe you missed something? Maybe they did? If you can get me a name, if that is actually what we are looking for, I can do an employee search. It's against policy to give employee names, but Dr. Miller will want to know who did this, so I'm willing to bend the rules a bit. Plus, it's YOU giving me the name anyway.

Cory Weter came back with nothing. I don't want to raise too much suspicion over in HR, so until I have a confirmed name that works there and would have access to the printer and documents, I can't do anything.

- Theresa

There's some solid information, finally. Unfortunately, I don't have any friends or relatives who got the same information, but I do have the rest of you chaps. I think, in all honesty, we should pay attention to all our different packets. I know only a few of us here received them - I'm hoping that other people who have didn't just pitch the folder thinking it was some scam, and I hope that the ones who did keep it eventually find their way here.

So to the others who got a packet, cross-reference it with the one I uploaded and see if we can come up with anything different.

Now, there's a chance it's not a name we're looking for, too, judging by how she worded that sentence. Either way, anything extra that I don't have in my packet, but someone else has in theirs, could be huge.

I tried to contact presidio about the PITPortal ID and received this reply:

Hello.

We appreciate you contacting the IT support department here at the
Presidio Institute of Technology. Due to an abnormal increase in
support contact, we are unable to respond at this time. We apologize
for any inconvenience.

Ok, so, while it may not be important, I'm making note of it anyways.

Theresa said to look to make sure I didn't miss anything, or if someone had something different. Well, the only real page that stands out is obviously the Safety Concerns page, and I started looking at mine more in-depth.

Now, it's impossible to see in the scans, and I wish I could make it look better, but I probably can't. However, there are things faded towards the middle of my Safety Concerns page that the scanner did not pick up. I'll go through it now.

Quote:

Safety Concerns

We insure the safety of all recru---its during the testing process. Veil
Nanoscience is fully respon_#77 (possibly respon_#//) for any accidents or injuries that occur while you are undergoing any procedures
of every month.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------- (weird scan lines and uninterpretable jumble)

Your safety is our number one concern.
Veil Nanoscience. Your safety is our number one concern.
Your safety is not our concern///#

And the rest is just those weird scan/printer error lines. Now, notice the last line? Creepy lol. Also, that ///# part comes up twice (though, as I said, the first time might be #77, which makes sense (Chip-77)). I'm drawing blanks, but it's something we didn't have before.

EDIT:

So, looking at it again, and with the help of people from the IRC, we thought of maybe turning the letters back into numbers, since we already have 2 numbers from the pages.

CORWYETER = 3-15-18-23-25-5-20-5-18

Now, that could be useless. Who knows. But it was something to try.

Also, and we have mixed feelings on this so far, but if everyone else could take a look at the State of California certificate that is uploaded to imgur, and if you look towards the bottom at the "Provisions of California", I have mixed feelings on if that 'P' is bolded or not. It looks thicker than the rest, but at the same time, it doesn't look out of place enough - as if it were unintentional.

IMPORTANT wrote:
!EDIT 2!: Upon looking through the packet again (I started holding each page up to the light, checking for watermarks), I've discovered something new. On the back of the State of California Certificate, in the bottom left corner, is a handwritten 19.

Now, if we're on the right track with Letters = Numbers, then a 19 could either be an S, or if taken separately, a A and an I. I think these guys would be above l33t speak, so I won't go into those conversions, although, it is a possibility.

Now:
CORWYESTER = 3-15-18-23-25-5-19-20-5-18

OR = Cory Wester.

Edit 3: And, as a note, if we use those numbers to match up buildings from the map of the Presidio Institute, we get..

3 = Health Science Building (Note: Health Science faculty page is down still)
5 = Carver Hall
19 = Forensic Research Building

Now we're talking. Alright, I'm gonna pore over this new info while I wait for MY MOTHERFUCKING PACKET!!!

That's right baby, I got an e-mail from Theresa saying, among less notable things, "HR must have noticed that you were showing a lot of interest and weren't on the previous mailing list.

Anyway, thanks again for your interest. You should be receiving the materials in a few days."

Hell yeah.

Lol @ "Multiple posts of intrigue".

I just sent Theresa another email, asking her to look up a Cory Wester. Fingers crossed - or else I'll be a bit stumped, to say the least.

Edit: F5'ing the shit out of my inbox. C'mon, Theresa, reply.

We're missing something, we've got to be. This is the opening puzzle, this should be easier, no?

We were missing something. Hopefully, that 19 on the back of the California State Certificate page was it.

EDIT:

Boom, baby! Thanks to everyone for helping figure this first puzzle out.

Damian,

So glad to hear back from you. We do have an employee here named Cory Wester. We will investigate this further. It seems like you're onto something Mr. Rivers. Thank you for noticing the faults in the packet.

-Theresa

Looks like we got our perpetrator. I'm assuming Theresa will get back to me with details tomorrow - I'm pretty sure she's going home for the day.

EDIT 2: OH SHIT, CHECK IT OUT.

Cory Wester

I found the dude on Facebook! He's an Executive Assistant to the HR Director. Oh snap.

Hot damn!
