Why is there no more Rake content?

I've noticed that the Rake has not gotten much attention, nor has it spawned any vlogs, like Slenderman. My question is..why is there no more stuff about the Rake?

I think it is because The Rake is not NEARLY as "mysterious" as Slender Man is. Nor as iconic or ubiquitous. It has much to do with Slender Man's means of "attack." Or more specific, his lack of attack. Slender Man watches. He causes paranoia and anxiety.

Pretty much, what I mean, is that mysteriousness and cryptic nature of Slender Man spawns ARGs because it intrigues and scares people. The Rake, while scares people, does not cause nearly as much intrigue.

At least that's how I see it.

Re: Why is there no more Rake content?

There aren't any vlogs that I know of, but there are actually several blogs that are devoted to him as well as a few Slendy blogs that use him prominently. Unfortunately, I've lost track of the Rake blogs, so hopefully someone else has those links.

Auribus Tenere Lupum features an on-going conflict with the Rake

Short video of an elderly lady recounting her encounter with the Rake:

Have not watched this yet, but it's a found footage film about the Rake:

The Rake's partnership (?) with slendy is not implemented by other vlogs for two main reasons.

1) It's very much an EMH trademark now and 2) We still don't know what The Rake's relationship with slendy ACTUALLY IS.

Elementary, my dear watson.

(Just read the question through again...it's probably because he's not a clean slate to build on like with slendy...he's merely a brutal force to throw around)

The Rake definitely has his own innate mystery, that can be exploited quite well at times.

However, the real reason is that the Rake is a much harder costume to make. Slenderman, you can hammer together out of common materials, but the Rake is quite difficult.

You could very much say that Slender Man was a trademark of Marble Hornets.

This proves my point, really. People don't really know what else to do with The Rake because he's really written into a box. He's just so much less interesting in every way.

Well, I'm inclined to disagree with those who are "surprised" there's not a lot of other content, especially here.

It'd be like a single series introducing Freddy Krueger (whose relationship with slondors we aren't sure of until they reveal) and then other series implementing him on a whim.

Pretty much this. You can put a suit on a rack and get a styofoam head to put on it pretty easily. Making a naked guy with big weird eyes that moves constantly is a lot harder to slap together on a budget

Also, the Rake tends to viciously maul the people it encounters, so not a whole lot of repeat value in that.

The Rake is a lot more mysterious and subtle than many of you believe... like others have said, he's not in many vlogs because his costume would require a lot more than Slendy's.

I highly disagree with this. The Rake is very straight forward in his original mythos. Any extra "mysteriousness" people give him is making their own version of The Rake. Which, there's nothing wrong with that, but you really can't do much with a murdering psychopathic monster. He's scary in the way a Tank from L4D is scary.

I want to know why the rake was worth making something out of anyway. The original creepypasta was really boring.

People found him as creepy (or more creepy) as Slender Man. I think it was how directly hostile he was, which is more terrifying to people. Some people like to be terrified, others like to be creeped out, some like both.

The Rake is definitely more horrifying than Slender Man.

I don't give a flying fuck about the original mythos. It sucked, and what others have expanded on it is much better.

I guess that's another thing Slender and The Rake don't share. Slendy actually had good original Mythos. Makes him more consistent.

A couple things:

-I believe the Rake to be just as mysterious as the Slenderman. He's kind of our Bigfoot: you know it's there (maybe) but you never get a clear shot. Plus not knowing what it wants makes it just as mysterious as ol' faceless.

-The fact that slenderseries do not incorporate the Rake is because EMH did it already. Leminnes tried to make a case of it, but MH did NOT invent SM, they perfected it. EMH did NOT invent the Rake, but they incorporated it into a SM series (which can still be done by someone alse, but it would be shunned as a wannabe copycat). To prove my point: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=chGtsL4fxTA

Now, I would like to see The Rake as its standalone mythos. I really don't see why not. As I mentioned earlier, it could work very well as a search for Bigfoot or Blair Witch type of series...
