He just took his glasses off because they were uncomfortable or something.

His vision obviously isn't THAT bad if he can get around without them. And he has pockets. So I don't think this needs to be debated. Worst-case scenario, it's a minor continuity error.

I'm in the middle on this. I don't think it's a continuity error. There was a clear cut in the tape where time passed where he could've taken his glasses off IG... the main question is whether it's relevant, and that's where I'm in the middle. I don't know if it's relevant or not, and if it is, we won't really know it until it's obviously relevant.

OT I just noticed I'm a veteran now Very Happy
I believe this is my first non-boot post (is it a time thing, or a post-count thing?) ^^

I don't know. If his vision's OK enough to get around on a park trail without tripping over sticks or walking into stray branches, he probably wouldn't be wearing glasses around his apartment. Maybe someone forgot his contacts when he showed up to film, but I'd much rather believe he slipped his glasses off so they'd not get slapped off by a struggling Jay, or crunched into his face if the tailing Masky chucked a rock at him.

Regarding the key...

My thought, halfway through the entry was this: Alex seems pretty sly. I'll bet that key doesn't open his door, but is just a way of luring Jay to a particular place. Obviously I was wrong on that count - however, I suppose now Alex knows for sure Jay has the key. Quite how that'd benifit Alex, who knows. Someone suggested (forget who but it was a cool idea) the tape Jay found was a dummy - blank, or a videoed message from Alex. Or a rickroll.

And... Jay still has this key now. He could, quite potentially, attempt a return to Alex's place (there's surely enough stalking footage to figure out how to get there) - in fact, thats quite a good possibility for how the series returns to the present.

My biggest questions...

1. WTF is with one solitary tape? I mean, neither of the times Jay has been in Alex's room have we seen more than one tape, despite Alex obviously still doing a lot of filming (see the handheld in #45). They could be boxed up, but why keep one out? Especially if its particularly incriminating and you've got people trying to sneak into your house. The other comon suggestion is that ALex is making good on his promise to burn all the tapes - the lighter hints at this - but again, why save this particular one?

2. What was the point in bringing Jay out to the woods, then deciding "meh, off you go, I'll just chill here"? If Alex suspects Jessica knows too much, he'd have suspected that from before they set off - why would he suddenly decide they need to come back from her? Perhaps he had plans to try and kill Jay, but chickened out? Maybe we've seen Alex trying to cover up a moment of humanity?

I'd still fall in the camp that he didn't much care for Jay coming out, but did it to lure the masked team out - though to what ends I don't know. We know Tim makes it out of the 7 month gap alive, so Alex can't have done anything too lethal to him. It just seems... strange to take Jay on a seemingly purposeless hike.

Bleah... too many questions!

ALso - The only character we've seen smoke (IG at least) is Tim. Just food for thought...

Really hasn't been a lot of action which is a little sad. It used to be hard to keep up with everything, now it's like "Oh yeah that Marble Hornets thing"

I really find it hard to believe that Jay and Jessica were "dating" by the time of this entry. I mean, Jay's life at that point was pretty much revolving around Alex (and no, not like that), when would he have time for dates? A normal social life, even? What does Jay do in his spare time anyway?

Anyway, regarding Jessica, judging by the way Jay worded the message it seemed to me that they had been keeping in touch with each other when it came to Alex. It was probably meant as a "back-up" for Jay, I think: in case he didn't come out of the woods at least someone would know what happened to him.

Also, during the successful!ninja secene I was totally expecting Alex to appear super pissed at any moment as soon as Jay turned around. The entry might not have had any "scares" but it definitely built up the tension. I kept pausing the video every 5 seconds.

May be watching this tape leads to memory wiping? This is why J doesn't post #51 yet Smile

The glasses may or may not be significant. However, one of the first things Alex did after killing Bruce was to retrieve his glasses from where they'd fallen. Maybe he removes them now if he's expecting violence. Jay certainly was -- he made sure he had his knife.

I have to think that Alex knew perfectly well that Jay had the key, and that the tape was most likely a plant.

Clearly, Alex's insinuation about J & J's relationship was just that. Or he was implying they're in some kind of conspiracy against him.

I kind of take umbrage with the thought of it being an ARG, just because it's not exactly... well, gamey. We're only involved to the point where Jay can clarify things for us over Twitter, pretty much. We don't change/affect the storyline in any way, shape, or form. It seems more like an Alternate Reality Series with a slight bit of interactivity.
I agree that the game aspect isn't really a thing.

On the other hand, MH is very much based on the premise that this shit is really happening and Jay is really going around doing stuff in real time. So if there's something that Jay could do almost-immediately, and which he declares he's about to go do, it really isn't too much of a stretch to expect him to do it that much more quickly than the usual week+ gaps between Entries.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
And as others have pointed out, there's nothing in this entry which would have requited mail-ordering a prop in (which I imagine would have to be something fairly specific to get them to mail-order it rather than just going to a store and buying it, since the USPS has screwed them over at least once before. I imagine the guys would be VERY reluctant to rely on mail-ordered props unless there was literally no way they could acquire them locally within budget. Which makes me suspect it's for Entry 51/52, which makes me suspect that the delay in releasing 50 was in order to give them time to release 51 quickly after it.

So all the above makes me think that the people expecting an entry very soon aren't completely off-base. At the very least, the MH folks (through Jay) have given very clear signals that we are to expect an entry damn soon, and they haven't put out any clarificatory tweets saying we should be patient. If an expectation has been created that the next entry is going to come out sooner than usual, I don't think the audience is entirely to blame when all they've been doing is applying very reasonable interpretations to the stuff they've been told.

Jay the character's favorite basketball team had just won an important game, and labeling the tape "56-42" was an ad hoc and arbitrary expression of his smugness about the successful ninjutsu feat he just performed.

Alas, that's the most sensical hypothesis I'm able to come up with.

1) The book. I'm not convinced that this is important, it could have just recurred for the sake of continuity--Alex would have the same stuff in his room since last we saw it. Also, someone said they thought they saw Slenderfolk on the cover? The image is actually part of a Georges Seurat called Circus Sideshow. Look at the left side, compare it with the back cover of "Listen" at 12:24.

I knew the style of the cover looked familiar. Kudos to Owlish for tracking it down. Given the musical subject matter in the painting, I'm going to guess that it is in fact a textbook (albeit probably an out of date one). As I said before, unless there's something secret tucked into it (TTA account password info!), there's no way to tell if it book is significant.

It's where Alex puts his WEEEEEED. That's why he left the apartment, needed to meet his dealer. Wink

Judging by his wheels, he is the dealer.

...did I just solve the entire series?

The Operator was once a tall man with a cocaine addiction. His dealer gave him what he thought was really great Russian coke, but it turns out it was radioactive ash from Chernobyl. The radiation severely deformed his face, and caused his body to emit large amounts of electromagnetism and radiation. He's pale because he hid away for so long in a state of madness. The business suit is the last thing he wore before the incident.

Tim dabbles in a variety of experimental drugs - his pills are actually laced with LSD. Him and his friends wear masks and cause trouble when they're tripping (A Clockwork Orange, anyone?). Then they met Big Slim in the woods, and he started following them. He liked Alex's house a lot. Alex was getting stressed out, so Tim shared some of his stash, and Alex grew more and more paranoid.

Jay doesn't handle his trips very well ('Return' video? Seven month long blackout?).

Clearly the entire series is a PSA for not doing drugs. Razz (Whoever mentioned that in this thread or whatever thread that was mentioned in, please give yourself credit - I honestly don't remember who posted that or when, haha.)

So *that's* why Alex hangs out in The Blessed Forest... He's tending his crops!

[But srsly, I lol'ed]

So, fellas, i think this entry is underrated. Okay, there was no slendy, or blood at all, BUT this entry gives us a stable point in time. Now, jay has some clue about the timeframe, and from that point, we can order the tapes.
