The way Alex suddenly stands at point blank range when the camera comes back on is no coincidence. Something major happened in the gap between the tapes, and that something is why Alex took Jay into the forest.

At the end of 38, he's walking towards Jay.
In 50, after he changes tapes, Alex is standing right in front of him.
There's just a gap where he's walking over to Jay.
It'd complicate everything if something else happened. Especially this far in the season.

I suppose it's possible body culture is that different in the US, but over here in Scandinavia you just don't stand that close to another person unless you're going to do something that requires bodily contact.

Body culture in the US isn't normally that close. Given that Alex and Jay know each other well though (even if they aren't happy with each other), I'd say it wasn't too bad.

However, when he went to change tapes and Alex started coming towards him, I started freaking.

So they have actually done some cool studies and yes, Americans take up more of one another's personal space than most other countries. That said, Alex looms a bit. We don't know why. Presumably it will be revealed in the foretold Jay+Jessica episode and show that Alex has ill-intentions.

Or maybe he just needs a hug?

I really like the idea of Alex walking Jay aimlessly around the woods until his camera runs out...it would definitely explain why he didn't bring his own camera for a change. But when the tape cuts back in they seem to be in a pretty logical position for Alex having just approached Jay and Jay having just changed his tape.

Jay doesn't really react like something just happened and he's not any sort of confused that would indicate he'd lost his memory. But I still want to hold onto the possibility of SOMETHING happening off tape. It's still really strange to me that Alex would just let Jay leave after coming out all that way.

Maybe Alex didn't expect Jay to bring extra tapes for some reason...

Maybe that. Although it seems like Alex should know from personal experience that carrying around a buttload of tapes is just an everyday part of having The Stalk.

I'm thinking that it's not the camera that caused Alex to abort whatever plan he had. He probably hadn't expected Jay to have really involved Jessica at all by this point. I'm betting that most of the walk was spent mulling over whether Jessica would notice Jay's disappearance, and what his new plan should be. In the end he figures he can just do "it" another day when they're both there, so he can cover his tracks.

What "it" is, specifically, I don't know. But I will say this: this event is probably what causes Jay to lose his memory, given that Jessica lost hers as well. So, it would be consistent with both Jay AND Jessica coming back to Rosswood another day and having some sort of thing done to them.

Thought on "NoEntry"
pedantic pedant is pendantic

We've seen several instances of magical doors --you go in, but you don't emerge from the other side...or other types (closet, etc)
So what if the "noentry" reference is to the tunnel...
Well I was going to say that nobody comes in from the "far" end of the tunnel, but then there's at least BuddyRoo Bruce.
OK--well, what if the tunnel there is a sort of portal to Slendyland and we're supposed to read that he can use the tunnel as an exit from there, but mortals cannot use the tunnel as an entrance to go there?
And Slendified people with their essences "extracted" have or feel a need to 'return home' to Slendyland...but can't use the tunnel as an entry to it?
So maybe 'noentry' is a hint that there's a clue how to get back to where they never belonged?

Proffy thinks too damn much.
EDIT: Proof of the above: editing for clarity and spelling.
Also, I love foood's season 2 ending, just saying and didn't want to post "me too" like some brain-dead AOLler or make a Weird Al reference needlessly.

It's entirely possible that instead, it was chalked in, since trees are central to Slenderman mythos, and Alex's OP ghost story.

If it really was chalked in then a "crime scene" comes to mind, even though present!Jay said he found nothing of the sort and past!Jay didn't seem to notice them.

Also, keep in mind that Alex may have appeared to be closer to Jay because the field of view on Jay's camera is narrower than typical human vision.

Wait, didn't Bruce come in through the same side Alex did, as well as the camera-holder in Entry #29? Also, I'm certain that Jay came in through the "far" side in Entry #50, and is the only one to do so up to this point. I might be wrong though. The lighting kinda throws me off a bit. Either way, I'm being kinda nitpicky.

As I see it, Jay entered the tunnel in #50 from the same side Bruce and Alex used in #49. Jay does walk through and exit the other side though, where he sits on the grass a minute to collect himself. He then goes through again, in the opposite direction this time--he's headed back toward the Alex&Bruce opening when the camera cuts out.

Of course, he's chasing Tim at the time. So when Tim goes in, does he go through, exiting out the mysterious side? Or does he vanish, like Jay did from his bedroom door way back when?

On your other points, I agree. Jay is the only one to have gone through that tunnel opening.

I'm not 100% positive it's the same side of the tunnel, since...we don't really see the other side for certain, but side by side:

It kind of looks like the same side of the tunnel from different angles. But I'm not certain.

I'm pretty sure it's the same side in both pictures. I see nothing that suggests otherwise.

And here we observe the wilded Masked Tim in his natural habitat - thick forests and rain tunnels.

The Masked Tim survives off of offerings left by its elders, the Hooded. It spends its day grooming its beautiful sideburns and contemplating its next hunt.

We have startled the creature, and it runs for shelter. Observe it's unique limp.

It evades us, and we are left cold and confused. We wait in silence, hoping it will return, but unfortunately, it does not.

Join us next week for the exploration of a den of the magnificent Wild Kralie, here on Jay Planet.
