Jay: Clueless or really clueless?
You decide

Im not entirely sure why he would, in the text of the video, have any wonders as to why alex is acting so strange, after the events of entry 49. or 48. or any of the entries since 38, really.

It's called denial. Jay and Alex were friends, likely close friends if they were working together closely on Marble Hornets before all the Slender stuff went down. Jay doesn't want to believe his friend has gone bad. He wants to find a reason for Alex's strange behavior. More than anything, I think, he wants to find out it is not Alex's fault, that he was Slender-controlled or something and that's why he's been so violent and stand-offish.

Although, a great twist would be if Jay is actually the bad one and he's been acting dumb to lure us all in and makes us complacent. Twisted Evil

We gotta keep in mind that this Jay, the Jay from the seven months, hasn't seen any of Alex's chestcam footage. He never saw the Slendy encounter in Entry #43, Bruce's murder, etc. Surely the present-day Jay is much less clueless now, having seen all of that footage.

It makes me wonder if 7 months Jay is going to end up watching the 56-42 tape though.

I'm referring to present-day jay. In entry 50, he says he wonders what alex wanted to do, staying behind in slendy's woods... after he saw alex murder someone, seemingly in some sort of strange sacrifice for slendy, and after he reviewed tapes where alex chilled with slendy while jay ran, and after he's seen alex get incredibly violent and threatening towards himself and others.

I would wonder to, the fact Alex murdered some one makes this more mysterious, also we have evidence Alex has not in the tunnel during the entry, so where was he.

More importantly, Jay: bad ninja or really bad ninja?

Although he did do a successful robbery now, so maybe he took a level in ninja since the last few videos.

In all seriousness, present-day Jay is probably still trying to piece things back together--the idea of waking up one day with no idea what happened for seven months is going to mess you up. Once he starts watching the videos, it's still not going to feel like his real memories. It's going to feel like he's watching a movie of someone else's life.

And let's not forget his mind might still be screwed up from whatever wiped his memory. So it may be difficult for him to piece things together, far more difficult than we who don't have that obstacle.

Please don't lynch me, but despite the applause handed out in the #50 thread, I can't say I think past-Jay is getting *much* smarter. He stole the tape--the one Alex already knew he wanted--the day after being told Alex's front door key was missing, and that Alex suspected he had it. He didn't bother to replace it with a different tape, despite knowing that's what he wanted before breaking in. And his searching leaves a lot to be desired. And he doesn't check the porch or the parking lot before strolling on out. =\ And that knife. I carry a bigger one for crafts and shit in my purse. C'mon dude, get something that at least looks intimidating!

That said, he's come a long way from S1. I agree with those who have said that pre-memory-wiped Jay doesn't have enough info to be as suspicious as he should be. It must be so weird for present-Jay to watch himself walk into such a scary situation unawares.

I mentioned in the #50 thread that I think Alex's sensory input (and perhaps logical thought processes) are hampered by The Operator's influence. I really hope we're not seeing the same from Jay... That would lead to ominous conclusions. Confused

Right now im gonna defent Past Jay by saying What else is he gonna do? he really has no other option but to continue on in his investigation. untill all this is over he can't have a normal life and if he has to start breaking into houses to get it done who can blame him. Plus he can't just avoid Alex he's the only one who has the slightest idea whats going on. So its not really that Jay's clueless its just he has no other options.

Oh I agree he's in a shitty spot. But at least replacing the tape with a blank one would keep Alex in the dark for longer, which would help the whole having-to-work-with-him thing.

I think Jay is still in denial that the Operator even exists... has he ever once mentioned Slendy or wondered what the fuck he is?

Well, he did ask why Alex didn't run from it after Entry 46 "After seeing what was behind him"
