New York Is Devistated
Hurricane Sandy

All Of Long Island which includes parts of New York City are in bad shape due to Hurricane Sandy which occured Monday 10/29.
Downtown Manhattan is flooded. The subways are under water and pretty much the whole stock market area.
Staten Island has been hit extremely hard. Lots of flooding in many communities miles from the shore.
Queens and Brooklyn have all southern communities flooded. You might have heard that Breezy Point had a massive fire inwhich 110 homes were burnt to the ground.
In Nassau & Suffolk counties all of the beach front communities have been flooded.. Sand & water have been pushed in for miles in all communities within a 1/2 mile inland.
It is Thursday 11/1 and a lot of areas are still without power. I am thanking God that I have power now.

Schools are closed all week pretty much every where.

Communications by phone both land line and cell are impossible.

If you could donate to the American Red Cross we would thank you.

I gave a small donation but was just thinking of $10,000 buried there. I so wish we could find it to help those who are in desperate need.

Thank you Tresbien.

Most of Staten Island is a mess.

All the neighborhoods near the bays, inlets and channels are a real mess all over southern New York. Not just the ones you keep seeing on the news.

I live in Long Island and it is really hard to find gas. There is none in the city at all. Over 90% of Long Island lost power. So many areas are still without.

We are also running out of any type of food that has to be refrigerated since a lot of stores lost power.

I am thanking God that I have power since yesterday. So many are still without.

For anyone needing further motivation to help, the NBC-Universal television networks are broadcasting a benefit concert tonight and live-streaming it at 8pm eastern (5pm pacific)

I haven't read all that's been posted in the past few days, but I am so thankful to the PMs for taking this step to help those in need. I look forward to reading the solve over the next couple of days. Thank you for an amazing journey!

Well things are moving really slow and in some areas not at all. The south shores of Queens, Brooklyn, Nassau, & Suffolk County are still a mess. The Eastern side of Staten Island is still a mess. A whole neighborhood community there (SI) is being torn down. So that is quite a lot of people who now have to look for homes now.
Our national elected officals apparently don't care about NYers. They were and some still, are blocking any sort of aide to help these people.
Yet, New Yorkers pay far more into our Federal Taxes then those who live down south so, go figure that.
We still have a lot of homeless people who are being kicked out of hotels because FEMA money has run out.

We're New Yorkers we survived 9/11 and a million other crazy disaster type things and I'm sure we'll survive this.
