(False) E-mail Reply: L3 to letter sent in September

Bold my emphasis. I sent the original e-mail to L3 on September 4th. This is the response I received on Nov. 23.

Dear Sirs,

It has come to my attention that you were or may be seeking one Jake Starkey, of New River University.

This letter is to offer my services to you in whatever capacity you feel I may be qualified.

And so I ask you, Has the Time Come? I'd like to get cracking.

Give Reggie my best.

Sincerely,

Steffeny

It it sure that this message is originated from LLL? It is possible to "fake" sender of an email message. It seems a "little bit" weird for me.

I've looked up the originating IPs from those mails. One is from one of the regular players, the other is from Asia.

To the first person who sent the mail as LLL: that's totally freaking lame. Do not impersonate in-game characters. Didn't we already learn this lesson? Rolling Eyes

Also to the first person who sent the mail as LLL:

I strongly suggest you read the following article.

http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/business/6764516.htm

Florida has enacted a cyberstalking law effective October 1, 2003 which is defined as follows:
Quote:
Under the new law, to cyberstalk means to "engage in a course of conduct to communicate, or to cause to be communicated, words, images, or language by or through the use of electronic mail or electronic communication, directed at a specific person, causing substantial emotional distress to that person and serving no legitimate purpose."

The point is it should not have been done at all in this case. The perpetrator is a known individual and will be dealt with.

Yes, it should never have been done at all. However the email address wasn't faked. The proper account was used, just broken into.
