I think by "jarring" he meant us. It would be jarring for us to go from something like Marble Hornets straight to a comedy from the same guys. It would be like a director well known for dark horror suddenly releasing a romantic comedy.

For some reason reading this made the idea of having David Fincher guest-direct one of the final Marble Hornets entries pop into my head.

I think it means it's long past time for tea.

Oh--and, yes, SilentMedusa, I think you're right about what Troy meant.

Yesss. It'll be interesting to see what they do when they take what they learned from Marble Hornets. I wonder if it'll be another found footage series.

An almost entirely found footage series, I hope not!

But a mystery that integrates found footage in areas in creative ways, I hope so.

I wonder if they'll pick something else from the Internet -like, say, a creepy pasta-, or use something from their own imaginations.

98% of creepypastas are garbage. I'd prefer they make something new.

You're probably right about that. Although, just to play devil's advocate, I think they could make a great adaptation of say, The Rake.

adaminator1, your comment is not only spot on; it recalled to me both the Sonic.exe creepypasta and Troy's podcast rant about a particular Sonic game being akin to a "shit pizza." I hope to God the next series isn't about either.

They could, yes. But as so many of the Slendervlogs that came after and were at least in part inspired by them have integrated The Rake, would the Marble Hornets guys wanna travel that well-traveled road?

I'd be curious to see something bending a little more towards ARG than Marble Hornets. Just a little, of course.

Yeah, I'd like to see them carry one through--sort of (I'm actually not much of a game fan--I love MH as a series). That's one of the problems with MH. It started off as much more of a game, and the way it shed the game aspect screwed up the viewers' sense of time in the series (if Jay spent a month on Tim's floor bound with zipties, I think that once he was released, TO's thrall or no, he woulda booked to Chick Fil-A or Sonic before booking to the old college).

I just want to see some (not-so) subtle MH references in it.

"Hey Joseph, did you see those tapes lying around?"

"What tapes?"

"You know, the video cassette ones."

"Dude, it's 2014, no one uses tapes anymore."

I think they should go even more retro and use a Lumiere camera.

(I won't post David Lynch's short film commissioned in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Lumiere Brothers' invention because I wouldn't want to get flagged, but you can find it on YouTube--it's fantastic.)

If Troy could, Troy totally would.
