You know what I meant. It would probably be lighter in terms of complexity of story and continuity, regardless of its tone.

Definitely, they wouldn't write themselves into as many corners.

I'm not so sure about either. Their comic shorts seem more like exercises to help them hone their craft and to gear up for something bigger. With Marble Hornets they clearly got caught up in something that was much bigger than they'd expected, but even the comic shorts helped them to write and produce MH, and now that they've done something complex but dramatic, I could see them trying a fairly elaborate comedy series (if only by the standards of what they've done so far). I doubt it will be Craig Digsby, Joseph's fictionalized self from "Joseph Listens to Jazz", and The Grapefruit from "Joseph Touches a Grapefruit" sharing an apartment above an Applebee's and running a posdcast.

Bear in mind Troy was making comic videos before MH on the THAC channel (which have since been deleted???) But you're absolutely right about them exercising on the THAC videos while making MH. Doing a comedy every now and again lets them blow off steam and take a break.

Some are out there on I guess Troy's friends' channels. The earliest ones are... odd. There's one where the guy who's the Rosswood hiker with the headphones in Entry #31 and the guy who plays the priest in the one THAC short about Tim meeting an "unconventional" priest at his girlfriend's sister's wedding, are some sort of top secret spy operation who accidentally call Brian (played by Brian) and inform him of a potential terrorist cell operating in his pants. (Was funny to see Brian knock Troy off a bike and then steal it.) There are also vids of Troy and Tim or of the trio playing horror games and ridiculing the hell out of them.

My point was that I think they were always planning to try to do something big on YouTube, but Marble Hornets happened first and happened to be it. I'm looking forward to both series that'll be forthcoming.

EDIT: I didn't mean to suggest above that MH is the only big thing they'll ever do together--just that they were ramping up to a big project but that MH took off and established their reps and fame early.

EDIT2: Did "Troy Shaves His Face" remind anyone of Scorsese's "The Big Shave"? No? OK.

As an artist I totally agree with this, sometimes a large piece can take you months or even years, but doing smaller, less intense works along the way help keep you from pulling your hair out lol It's also good just for practice and to experiment.

Oh, God, yeah. I keep several notebooks going and two small ones on hand just in case an idea strikes. I banged out the rough treatment for the first act of a screenplay during an insufferable lull at work. It wasn't very good, but it was still more productive than doing my job, lol.

When I say "less elaborate", I mean mainly that there aren't likely to be compelling story arcs of the variety that will have people whining about wait times. My point was about release schedules alone. I'm sure it's not going to just be "X Verbs a Y: The Series" (not that I'd mind that, I do love the X Verbs a Y shorts).

yep. I wouldn't mind if they kept on the X verbs Y videos because I feel maintaining a story driven mystery series AND story driven comedy would be quite demanding. This goes back to the blowing off steam point, if both projects are reliant on a lot of effort then they might start another side project, and even if they don't this could put strain on their schedule.

You know personally, I thing the reason we get so twisted up about the wait between entries (besides wanting to know what happens next, of course) is the premise. We're supposed to go with the pretense that there really is someone out there with a camera filming as his life gets turned upside down by some unknown supernatural force, and it's happening in real time.

I believe if their next series drops that and goes in with everyone understanding that it's fiction and we don't need terms like 'in-game' and 'out-of-game' to discuss it (that is, it's a series and not a pseudo-ARG) it'll be much easier on everyone. We might still complain about waiting a month for the next episode, but it wont be because we're supposed to believe someone spent that entire time tied up on the floor. Or sitting in a darkened house, chugging coffee and waiting for someone to show up and start a deadly confrontation.

Nor will they require some of the filler entries which existed more for IG reasons than OOG- they can, if they wish, take a more conventional cinematic approach for storytelling, which could allow them some more freedom in some ways.

In other news, Morphsuit is using pictures from Marble Hornets and presumably other series to advertise their Slenderman costume: https://twitter.com/GeauxJoe/status/472442242255187968

That's awesome!

Seriously, though, I hope they hang 'em high.
