Glad to see winners from unfiction!
-------------------------------
I think they need more areas ARG involved in the Midwest, also.
Most people don't realize how much sprawl is in Chicago-Land area.
I'm just outside of Aurora, the second largest city in IL, per population.
But Aurora is still considered a suburb of Chicago.
It's about an hour away from Chicago (city) on a "good" day.
Most days I hear about a nearly 2 hour drive due to traffic congestion.

I'm just sayin'...

hey all - yep I managed to nab the Toronto drop Smile Honestly didn't think I would... took quite a few minutes of contemplation and confusion before I tried on a whim.
The earlier hint gave the approximate location (between nathan phillips square downtown and the horseshoe [tavern] along queen). So I booted it down, had so time to spare so picked up a geocache, then walked along that stretch of Queens, and opted to wait near the halfway point. Made note of a few possible landmarks - including the Silver Snail (comic book / gaming store). So when the hint came, I cheered, as I was only a couple of blocks from it, hehe. Ran down, then started looking for a blue jay..thing.. 'where the silver snail meets a blue jay and the queen'? umm... silver snail is on queen... I checked other street names, stores, store signs (maybe a blue "J"?) but nothing seemed to match the hint... other drops could be anything from finding it hidden somewhere to finding a rep and speaking the password. The only thing concrete, really, was the silver snail and queen. So I chanced it and went to the store and asked if they knew anything about a Super 8 contest... the moment the cashier smiled I knew Smile hehe
The rest is history. No one else had been yet so I was first. woot!

I should have worn my Super 8 shirt - didn't think of it until later. Oh well.

It was a productive day in the end. $28 round trip bus to Toronto paid for the signed bluray and poster, and the snail also threw in a $10 certificate to the store. I helped out a homeless man, then a few minutes later found a quarter which gave me enough remaining pocket change for a hotdog Smile
Spent the rest of the day walking around the city locating some more geocaches, heh. A last walk along the harbourfront was a great way to end the day!

I'm curious to know though how many people were actually playing in Toronto! Seems like there weren't as many playing this mini-hunt as other campaigns and such.

At the first location I literally got there a hair too late!!! It was a food truck festival (faster than fast food) in Santa Monica at Pennsylvania and 26th (Liberty Bell and 6x 4+2 st.)

At the second location...there were people camped there. I was hoping that at first sign of the Super 8 folks, the winner would be whoever said the password or asked first...no matter if somebody was camping. The location was Gallery Nineteen Eighty-Eight on Melrose...the people we were supposed to ask were the proprietors of the gallery. They gave it to the person who got there first (by camping there)...IMO it wasn't an even playing field. At both locations I got the theatrical poster...I now have three of them, but no signed Blue Ray Sad

I decided to hold off on the location by bad robot HQ and took a trip to Melrose because I was planning a trip to Amoeba anyway.. like you said as I drove by it was packed! I heard at gallery 1988 was a pick out of a hat.. because someone who I saw on twitter stayed there for 3 hour and was still assed out.. I found out where both locations were around 10-10:30 in the morning by a unnamed source but as you were so confident.. nothing is a for sure win in LA lol

Kind of funny you mentioned that people were camped there. The drop that was supposed to be in Phoenix was actually in scottsdale. The runner up stated there were people at the train park at 745am that the drop was held. The clue went live at 8am AZ time, but no one knew to ask a specific person and say a password. so many left, and a lucky person picked it up at 9am, but super8 didn't tweet it was found till 30 minutes later, leading people to believe that it was still there (me). Plus the previous days clue of it will be close to Lincoln villege apartments put the drop in Phoenix, and yet the drop was actually in scottsdale, at least 15 miles away from the Lincoln village apartments. How then were people camped out at the train park at 745 am waiting for the clue to go live, with clues leading to a phoenix drop. IMHO, this was done too fast and didn't seem fair for a bunch of people because of the clues and people somehow finding out where the drop would be before it went live.

Fortunately for me no one was camping out where the clue was, and no one really knew where it was.

After the clue about the mockingbird, it was pretty obvious that it would be on the street named Mockingbird east of the expressway (clue 1).
I honestly thought it would be around the Angelica theatre (an indy film theatre) or the area around it. So I parked it outside the train station.
I was a little worried because some of the other clues had pointed toward convenience stores, and comic shops.. all of which were on that road.

Luckily, when the clue went live, I had remembered seeing a skate shop somewhere in the shopping center around the station. I thought it was a Pack Sun, but as i walked around outside i noticed another skate shop and immediately bolted for the door.
I walked in and said Mint, asking the three teenagers in the store (employees) if i was in the right place. They said yes, but the promo person wasn't there! I couldn't believe it. I stood around and waited for about 3 minutes until a group of 3 kids ran in shouting Mint.. the lady was still not there.
I have to admit that this worried me a bit.. Shortly after, the promo girl showed up to all of us staring at her, the kids started shouting mint again... wondering if she was the one. She asked for the manager, who was some 18 year old kid.. and luckily asked who got there first. I DID! lol so she handed me the DVD.. took some pics, handed out 5 shirts and I was out of there.

Another Hide and Tweet in Chicago

The company that hosted Chicago's Super 8 Hide and Tweet is having another one.
They have 10 Blu-ray / DVD combo sets that are not signed.
I hear they will be given away at two locations in Lincoln Park.
5 per location?

Hi guys, Chainsaw here. I couldn't even do this, but I would like to congratulate everyone that won some prize. Especially those that spent a lot of time on this ARG, and didn't get an RP prize.
